Former President Barack Obama is the golden child of the Democrat party, but not so much for one congressional hopeful who is trying to create waves in the party.
Democrat congressional candidate Justin Lecea recently tweeted that he hoped Obama would get “the most malignant cancer imaginable,” creating quite the outrage.
Calling out Obama
The attacks against Obama have generated significant backlash for Lecea. In the now-deleted tweet, he said “I just want you to think about all the people who have and will die because Obamacare is pointless and your entire presidency was a waste. If god was just you would get the most malignant cancer imaginable.”
He recently went on Twitter, releasing a series of tweets to justify his comments. He replied, “Y’all are defending a war criminal who was in authority during the deportation of over 3 million immigrants.”
Lecea stated the issue of medical care is near and dear to his heart and that while the delivery of his statement may have been done in a “crude” fashion, “the motivation” for his statement “came from a place of deep suffering and anguish.”
For those Texans supporting Trump thinking that Lecea is a better option than Castro, think again.
In a recent tweet, Lecea referred to Trump as a war criminal and wants him to stand trial for his crimes…
Going to be out tomorrow helping to support the local impeachment protest. Trump is just as much of a war criminal as every president and administration since Reagan and deserves to stand trial.#ImpeachThemAll https://t.co/PQVu0PtykQ

While he may not like Obama, he is clearly about as radically leftist as it gets and if elected, he would surely join up with the ranks of The Squad to create more problems for Trump.
Lecea is running in a blue district of Texas currently represented by Rep. Joaquin Castro, the twin brother of the presidential candidate, Julian Castro.
Castro is currently in the midst of his fourth straight term. Unseating Castro will not be easy, especially considering all the additional attention he has received due to both the impeachment hearings as well as the fact his brother is running for president.
It won’t be impossible, though, as many moderate Democrats have clearly had enough of the establishment running this country.
That is the exact angle Lecea is taking, as he is attacking Obama in the hopes of distancing himself from the usual players within the party. It did distance him, but probably not in the way he wanted.
