A top aide to Kamala Harris said that internal surveys revealed the VP was never ahead of Trump in the swing states, and that the campaign was relying on hope leading up to the election.
Harris was "surprised" to see herself in the lead according to public polls, according to David Plouffe, who had previously stated that she began the race trailing Trump, as Breitbart News reported.
When asked about the surprise, he attributed it to the release of public surveys in late September and early October that revealed leads that had previously been invisible.
Plouffe, who advised President Barack Obama's successful campaigns in 2008 and 2012 spoke about the race on the Pod Save America podcast on Tuesday.
Internal analytics, Plouffe said, showed Harris tied with Trump in Wisconsin 47-47 and Trump leading in Pennsylvania 48-47.
"I think we were, you know, we were hopeful. I don't know how optimistic we were, but we thought, okay, this is tied," he said.
Also, Plouffe conceded that Harris's debate performance, which they deemed excellent, did not have the desired impact on the margins.
"I think even after the debate, we might have gained what, 0.51. It wasn't a race that moved a lot," he said.
He conceded that turnout was lower than anticipated in some areas but said the campaign had hoped that undecided voters would switch to Harris.
"You know, you've got to have undecided break your way more than your opponents, and you've got to get a little benefit from turnout, which we weren't able to do," he said.
Plouffe conceded there was no progress in the race after spending more than $1 billion on the campaign.
There was a discussion on the reliability of polls after Plouffe made his remarks, considering that the reporting on the polls was so wildly different in a number of outlets and from a number of pollsters leading up to the 2024 presidential election.
Despite repeated criticism from Democrats who felt the polls were too optimistic for Trump, pollster Rasmussen Reports used the news to bolster their claims that their polls were the most accurate.
"Plouffe said the campaign’s internal polling NEVER HAD HER AHEAD OF TRUMP," the poll company wrote on X, highlighting results. "You mean, internally, it looked something like - this?"

The news that Vince and Linda McMahon are no longer together was recently disclosed in a Washington Post article that was published this morning.
The article was a profile of Linda McMahon. In a statement, Laura Brevetti, who represents Mrs. McMahon, confirmed the news of the couple's separation, as The Daily Mail reported.
The news that President-elect Trump had declared that he had selected Ms. McMahon as his choice for Secretary of Education in his upcoming cabinet came just a few hours after the announcement was made public.
Neither of the McMahons has ever made a public announcement regarding their marriage or their divorce before.
According to a report that appeared in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in 2022, Vince and Linda had separated but had not ended their marriage. Neither of the McMahons made any comments regarding the report at that time.
With the exception of the initial confirmation, no other information was provided concerning the separation, nor was it specified how long the McMahons have been apart together.
From 1980 to 2009, Linda McMahon served as the Chief Executive Officer of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Prior to that, she was the administrator of the Small Business Administration during the first Clinton administration, starting in 2017. She resigned from her position in 2019 to take the helm of America First Action, a super PAC that supports Trump.
McMahon is also the chairperson of the America First Policy Institute, which is a think organization that supports Trump.
TKO Group Holdings was formerly led by Vince McMahon, who also served as the company's Executive Chairman. In January, after a lawsuit that had been filed by Janel Grant became public, he resigned from his position at the corporation.
Grant, who worked for WWE between the years of 2019 and 2022, has filed a lawsuit against Mr. McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and the entertainment business as a whole.
All of the charges have been refuted by Mr. McMahon. In addition, Mr. Laurinaitis has indicated that he was a victim and has denied any misconduct that may have occurred.
McMahon was nominated by President-elect Donald Trump for the position of Secretary of Education in a statement issued just days ago.
“It is my great honor to announce that Linda McMahon, former Administrator of the Small Business Administration, will be the United States Secretary of Education," the President-elect wrote in a statement, posted to his Truth Social account.
"For the past four years, as the Chair of the Board at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), Linda has been a fierce advocate for Parents’ Rights, working hard at both AFPI and America First Works (AFW) to achieve Universal School Choice in 12 States, giving children the opportunity to receive an excellent Education, regardless of zip code or income. As Secretary of Education, Linda will fight tirelessly to expand ‘Choice’ to every State in America, and empower parents to make the best Education decisions for their families.”
The conservative talk show host and prolific author, Dennis Prager, was recently hospitalized due to a severe back injury sustained in an accident, as Barrett Media reported.
PragerU, his nonprofit advocacy group and media organization, initially disclosed his medical emergency on November 13 through the social media platform X.
On Tuesday morning, PragerU founder and our dear friend, Dennis Prager, suffered a serious back injury following a fall. He's resting in a local Los Angeles hospital as doctors assess treatment options. We will keep you informed of his condition. In the meantime, Dennis welcomes…
— PragerU (@prageru) November 13, 2024
Afterward, the news was also announced on his official X account through a video statement from his employer, The Salem News Channel, which was read by his colleague and guest host, Mark Davis.
“Join us in praying for Dennis's quick recovery from a back injury!” the November 14 post was captioned.
In the video, Mark Davis reiterated the information that was previously shared on the PragerU post and stated that he had already extended his best wishes for the host.
He encouraged his friends, admirers, and listeners to join him in "praying" for Dennis Prager's "quick recovery."
Davis also announced a roster of guest presenters, including Jennifer Horn, Bob Frantz, and Carl Jackson, who will be temporarily taking over the hosting duties of his designated program, which is broadcast from noon to 2 PM ET.
Dennis Prager is a renowned American conservative author, radio talk show presenter, and commentator, known to have supported conservative causes, nationwide.
He is a co-founder of PragerU, an online platform that creates brief educational videos with the objective of promoting conservative values and ideas. Since 1999, he has been a nationally syndicated radio presenter, broadcasting from Los Angeles.
Prager's syndicated program addresses a diverse array of subjects, such as politics, religion, and culture.
He has made appearances on approximately 400 stations nationwide, actively promoting conservative ideology.
The Rational Bible, Still the Best Hope, and Happiness Is a Serious Problem are only a few of his nine published books.
Along with producer Allen Estrin, Dennis started PragerU in 2011 to make five-minute films that taught students about a variety of topics, including economics and politics.
Those films have been instrumental in teaching teens and young adults about issues surrounding civics and politics in a way that has been frequently overlooked in the public education system in recent years.
The recall that was directed toward the chief prosecutor in Alameda County was successful on Tuesday night, which has the potential to deal a blow to the principles of progressivism in the criminal justice system across one of the bluest areas in the state of California.
District Attorney Pamela Price became the first elected district attorney in the history of Alameda County to be recalled from office, according to the unofficial final results that were provided by the county early on Wednesday morning, as Breitbart News reported.
Even left-leaning locals disapproved of Price, a prosecutor supported by George Soros, for implementing "criminal justice reform" policies.
Even though city and county election officials are still counting ballots cast on Election Day, voters have expressed their support for removing her from office less than two years into her first six-year term. However, it may take several days for the final results to be certified because of the continuation of the counting process.
Price's self-proclaimed "exclamation point in history" as the first Black woman elected to the post ended in a historic whimper with the election of the next president.
Alameda County Board of Supervisors, which consists of five members, will be saddled with the responsibility of picking a replacement to serve until the next general election, which will take place in 2026.
As a result of Oakland's adoption of policies that "defund the police," the city's crime rate increased to the point where Price's own laptop was taken from her vehicle.
Also, Price was accused of engaging in nepotism after she hired her boyfriend despite reservations regarding his previous employment history.
On Tuesday, her counterpart in Los Angeles County, George Gascón, was defeated in his bid for reelection by significant proportions.
In June of 2022, voters in San Francisco also recalled the radical District Attorney Chesa Boudin, which was the first indication of a backlash in the state.
Prop 36, which overturned many of the most problematic "reforms" of Proposition 47 of 2014, which is generally criticized for increasing crime, particularly retail theft and looting, was approved by voters across the state of California with an overwhelming majority.
According to a report that was released prior to the election, there are seventy-five radical left-wing prosecutors who are connected to a rich Democrat mega-donor.
Over the past few years, Soros has been spending an enormous amount of money to elect individuals who advocate for "criminal justice reform" around the country.
This is the first report of its kind to place such a significant amount of emphasis on Soros's role, and it was compiled by the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF).
When the role that Soros played in these elections was first reported during the election cycle of 2018, the Los Angeles Times identified 21 races in which he was involved. The newspaper also suggested that he might have been involved in a much larger number of races that were difficult to identify due to laws that protect the identities of donors to nonprofit organizations that are permitted to engage in limited political activity.
Video supposedly showing Vice President Kamala Harris yawning went viral due to a competing effort that claimed it was Harris, not Trump, who is exhausted.
Kamala Harris can be seen yawning while seated aboard her plane in a video that was shared by the Trump war room, as Breitbart News reported.
Kamala Harris's campaign recently launched an assault against the former vice president, claiming that the 78-year-old Republican presidential candidate was exhausted.
This attack came at a time when Donald Trump was canceling several interviews with mainstream media outlets. 'Yikes,' Trump war room posted sharing a video of Kamala Harris sitting inside her plane and yawning.

"Kamala is exhausted -- cracking under the rigors of a presidential campaign after she was installed as a nominee who didn't earn a single vote," the Trump supporter's handle posted.
Several MAGA handles shared the video and mocked the vice president.
"Kamala's constantly saying that Trump is exhausted.. here is Kamala yawning. She doesn't have the stamina to run our country. They would have to dig her back out of bed just like they have to with Biden," one wrote.
"Has anyone ever seen Donald Trump this exhausted," another wrote.
Just weeks ago the Harris campaign shared a video, asserting that it showed Trump nodding off at a campaign event, asserting that the 78-year-old presidential contender was too "exhausted" to run for office.
"An exhausted Trump appears to be falling asleep during his campaign event," the Harris campaign posted to its X account.
This is just one of many accusations leveled by the Harris campaign on Friday in an effort to portray Trump as "exhausted."
This comes after a story in Politico said that a Trump adviser had told the former president he was "exhausted" and was declining interviews.
"Being president of the United States is probably one of the hardest jobs in the world," Harris said to reporters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, referencing the Politico report.
"And so, we really do need to ask if he’s exhausted being on the campaign trail, is he fit to do the job?"
However, following the Harris video making the rounds, one user responded saying, "Kamala is seen falling asleep on her plane after an easy day campaigning. 18 years younger than Trump, and she can't keep up with him. Who's the exhausted one?"
A former congressman who opposed Trump and Missouri's Democratic Senate nominee, Lucas Kunce, held a campaign rally on Tuesday.
During the event, they opened fire on private property, something that one would assume wouldn't be difficult for a competent adult, but ended up injuring a reporter.
Ryan Gamboa, a reporter, was hurt when something that seemed like a bullet fragment or a deflected round struck his arm. The perpetrators were firing a high-powered rifle at steel targets a few yards away.
On Wednesday, several days following his campaign event, Kunce informed the local sheriff about the incident, according to his announcement.
The Daily Wire was looking into whether the Democrat may have broken the law by not reporting the gunshot incident, so he apparently called the Clinton County Sheriff thereafter.
The event is still "under investigation," according to the sheriff's department, so they cannot divulge any other details at this time.
The internet lit up with stories surrounding the shooting that took place in a campaign where the Democrat is attempting to take over from a Second Amendment-loving Republican who is overall well-liked.
Remember: Guns don’t shoot people. Lucas Kunce shoots people
— Josh Hawley (@HawleyMO) October 24, 2024
Federalist CEO Sean Davis, also weighed in on the disastrous campaign event, saying, "I've heard of campaigns going out with a bang, [but] this is ridiculous."
Hawley spoke out in numerous tweets following the shooting, seeming to take full advantage of his opponent's blunder, offering questions, criticism, and even protection.
"Lucas Kunce sets up a fake range to get a fake photo-op … and shoots a guy. It’s nuts. But it’s Kunce," Hawley said in one tweet.
He questioned his opponent's legal status in another, saying "Serious question. Missouri law requires any person who causes injury with a firearm to file a report with law enforcement immediately. Did Lucas Kunce do that? Failure to do so is a crime."
Hawley marveled at the response from the political hopeful, saying "Kunce shoots a guy and says 'it’s a great day at the range,'" and in yet another tweet on the event offered a possible solution for reporters: "I will provide safety gear for all reporters covering Lucas Kunce. Free of charge. Enjoy!"
Melania Trump has asserted that her son Barron was denied a bank account after the Trump family departed the White House due to "cancel culture."
In her memoir Melania, which was released on Tuesday, the former first lady laments that she and Barron experienced the "venom of cancel culture" in the weeks following the Capitol disturbance on January 6, as The Independent reported.
“I was shocked and dismayed to learn that my long-time bank decided to terminate my account and deny my son the opportunity to open a new one,” she continued.
“This decision appeared to be rooted in political discrimination, raising serious concerns about civil rights violations.”
She added: “It is troubling to see financial services withheld based on political affiliation.”
In another instance, she stated, "I had an experience in the media sector that highlights the venom of cancel culture."
Melania wrote about the period of time "after leaving the White House," although she did not explicitly reference the January 6 riot.
She also stated that she was unable to participate in a media initiative because the private equity firm that was supporting it "chose not to honor our agreement due to personal animosity toward my husband."
Melania also discusses the effects of her troubled Fostering the Future scholarship program in the chapter.
Melania initiated the initiative following her departure from the White House, stating that she “pursued partnerships to channel donations for scholarships benefiting foster care children.”
However, she asserts that the “leading tech-education company” withdrew from the partnership after her involvement was disclosed and its board resolved to avoid "any public affiliation" with her.
“Despite my efforts to focus solely on children’s education and my willingness to avoid any public association with the program, the school remained firm and terminated the agreement,” she wrote.
The New York Times stated in 2022 that the Melania's Fostering the Future initiative was under investigation by the Florida Consumer Services Division because it had not been registered with them.
In response, the ex-first lady said that the press was out to "cancel" her and her philanthropic work.
It would appear that Barron is unfazed by his failure at the bank; Melania has detailed his success at a New York City university.
“He is doing great,” Melania said during an appearance on Fox News’s The Five on Tuesday. “He loves his classes and professors. He is doing well. He is striving and enjoying to be in New York City again.”
Barron, who is 18 years old, commenced his academic course of study at the Stern School of Business at New York University in September.
Vice President Kamala Harris made headlines following an eventful interview with MSNBC where she displayed a disturbing lack of knowledge and absurd reactions.
On Wednesday, a report published by the New York Times criticized the interview that Kamala Harris gave to Stephanie Ruhle, a host on MSNBC.
The report stated that the Democratic presidential candidate continued to adhere to her strategy of avoiding answering questions directly.
"Since Ms. Harris began granting more interviews in recent days, her media strategy has been to sit with friendly inquisitors who are not inclined to ask terribly thorny questions or press her when her responses are evasive," the New York Times' report on the "takeaways" from Harris' interview read.
Just days after Ruhle defended the vice president against accusations that she was avoiding questions and policy details during her interviews, Harris sat down for her first solo interview with a major network on Wednesday.
"Ms. Harris responded to the fairly basic and predictable questions with roundabout responses that did not provide a substantive answer," the report continued.
The report acknowledged Ruhle's justification and praise of Harris during her appearance on "Real Time With Bill Maher."
It also made note of a recent interview Ruhle did with President Biden in May 2023 and said, "Ruhle did not press him after his stumbling answers and praised him throughout the 14-minute discussion."
The Times further reported that before the June debate, which led to Biden's withdrawal, Ruhle neglected to ask Harris whether she had any knowledge about his health.
"Ms. Ruhle joined Ms. Harris in attacking Mr. Trump ('His plan is not serious, when you lay it out like that') and avoided posing tricky questions about positions Ms. Harris supported during her 2020 presidential campaign or what, if anything, she knew about Mr. Biden’s physical condition or mental acuity as his own campaign deteriorated," the report read.
The New York Times reported that this could be "perhaps why Ms. Harris agreed to the interview in the first place."
Ruhle challenged Harris during the interview about how she would "get the money" to pay for her expensive economic agenda if Republicans on Capitol Hill were to obstruct her attempts to increase the corporate tax rate.
"Do you still go forward with those plans and borrow?" Ruhle asked.
"But we're going to have to raise corporate taxes," Harris responded. "We’re going to have to make sure that the biggest corporations and billionaires pay their fair share. That’s just it. It’s about paying their fair share."
During the interview on MSNBC's "Deadline: White House," Ruhle acknowledged that Harris "doesn't answer the question."
Americans have been waiting with baited breath to hear how Vice President Kamala Harris will perform when being interviewed, and those questions (and hopefully others) could soon be answered.
While the Harris campaign wasn't in any way deluded enough to put Harris in front of an interviewer who was likely to do anything beyond pitch her softballs the entire interview, she is, finally, going to be interviewed, as Breitbart News reported.
Alex Marquardt, the host of CNN's "Situation Room" and the Chief National Security Correspondent, made the announcement on Tuesday that the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate will be conducting her first interview as a candidate a joint interview with 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) with CNN on Thursday.
This will also be the first time that the two candidates have conducted an interview together as a ticket.
According to CNN Political Director David Chalian, Harris and Walz will be interviewed by CNN Chief Political Correspondent and anchor Dana Bash in Georgia on Thursday. The interview will be shown as a primetime special at nine o'clock Eastern time on Thursday.
Following this, Marquardt stated that Chalian, in his capacity as Political Director, will have a part in assisting Bash in the formulation of questions, and he inquired about the problems that Bash will concentrate on.
The response from Chalian was that although the economy is unquestionably the most significant problem, there are a great deal of other problems for which "we just haven't heard from her, yet, in this capacity, as the Democratic nominee."
The interview comes as Harris faces the pressure of being the Democrat nominee without actually being voted in by the American people.
It is no doubt not lost on the Harris campaign that she is only leading the ticket because her name was on the Biden-Harris ticket, and the campaign would have lost tens of millions of dollars of already pledged donations if Democrats had put forward any other candidate to be the Democrat nominee.
This has spread fear among many and prompted a dreary forecast from Fox News’ Karl Rove, who said during a recent segment for the station that the optimism seen by the Harris campaign could be misplaced.
The analyst cited polling from earlier this week that suggested Harris is performing worse than both President Joe Biden at this time in 2020 and former first lady Hillary Clinton in 2015.
Fox anchor Brett Baire cited a warning that has been offered to Harris where she was told that the practice of avoiding the media and keeping her policy plans close to the vest could be a move borne out of "conceit and foolhardiness."
Rove responded, saying “She [Harris] needs to be more specific. Let’s not be critical of her by saying she has to have a Democrat Congress and a Democrat Senate in order to get these things done.
"Because the same can be said for Donald Trump; he has to have a Republican Senate and a Republican House to get everything done. But people want to know where you’re coming from, and they want to know enough about the specifics to get their hands around it."
Despite the aggressively progressive tone that Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign has taken, even the left-wing take has left something to be desired among anti-Israel protesters.
Harris campaign learned this lesson the hard way when pro-Palestinian demonstrators engaged in violent confrontations with law officers and invaded an afterparty that was held in New York City to commemorate the Harris rally, as Fox News reported.
In the aftermath of a Harris rally that was held in Harlem and attended by Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City, people were observed following the event and lined the street.
"You set Palestine on fire," one of the protesters was heard yelling.
Protesters who were opposed to Israel were seen in the camera clip making a commotion and putting off smoke bombs: "How dare you," shouted another person.
At prior campaign appearances, Harris has been confronted by protesters, and he has yelled at them to remove them after they disrupted the event.
"You know what, if you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I'm speaking," Harris said at a Michigan campaign event, eliciting static cheers from the audience.
A glaring weakness of the Biden administration, in the minds of many progressives, has been its backing of Israel's war against the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
This comes just about a week after the Democrat nominee attempted to shout down protesters during a campaign speech in Michigan.
Around the middle of Harris's speech, the demonstrators, who were opposed to Israel's involvement in the conflict with Hamas, interfered, causing a pause in Harris' speech.
At first, Harris spoke to protesters by saying she was, "here because I believe in democracy and everybody's voice matters, but I am speaking now."
Harris became more combative as the protesters continued to shout her down.
"You know what, if you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I'm speaking," Harris said, attracting cheers from the audience.
All of those who were participating in the demonstration were eventually removed, but not before a heated altercation broke out between supporters of Harris and protesters who yelled at one another.
The conversation took place during a trip that Harris and her new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, were taking to the states of Wisconsin and Michigan.
The goal of the trip was to garner support from voters who were younger, more diverse, and more committed to labor, in the way that Walz and Harris see the future.
