Anthony Fauci, long a highly paid government employee charged with medical decisions who advised Joe Biden on the COVID-19 pandemic disaster that is thought to have come out of a virus lab in Wuhan, China, that was working on making diseases worse through "gain-of-function" projects, now is under investigation.
And authorities are trying to document the connection between government funding for the EcoHealth Alliance, and its subsequent funding of gain-of-function work at Wuhan, and the evidence that COVID came out of the Wuhan work.
And then analyze Fauci's statements to Congress that the U.S. never funded any of that type of work.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, in an interview, said the work is focusing on gain-of-function research, at Wuhan, and if and how it was U.S.-funded.
"We are working on that," Gabbard said, in a transcript by the Independent Sentinel.
The report said, "Dr. Anthony Fauci used tax dollars to indirectly fund the Wuhan lab's gain of function research. He is under investigation for perjury, for lying about it. The evidence is smoking gun level. However, he was pardoned by Joe Biden Autopen as Joe was going out the White House door. But there is some question if that is legal."
Gabbard was asked: "Let me ask you specifically, because we already know that Eco-Health Alliance was partnering with this Wuhan lab to create, to do a gain and function reset, right? We just have never been able to have somebody say. And it was that exact experiment that led to this covid bug, but have we gotten there? What's the new thing that you're digging in on?"
She answered, "We are, we are working on that with Jay Bhattacharya, and look forward to being able to share that hopefully very soon."
Interviewer Megyn Kelly said, "OK, that specific link between the gain of function research and what we saw with covid-19. I mean, that would be extraordinary. Because just so the audience knows if that's true, if it was Peter Daszak's research with the Wuhan so called bat lady, that caused this pandemic, then we did fund it. Then Anthony Fauci helped fund the pandemic."
"Things that he denied over and over and over to Senator Rand Paul's questioning. That's right, under oath. It under oath, exactly so it is, is it any wonder that he sought a preemptive pardon for anything during a certain period of time by President Biden before he left office," Gabbard said.
Gabbard warned it's not just the past, but such gain-of-function work continues to bio labs all over.
"Who knows what kinds of pathogens are in these labs, and if released could create another COVID-like pandemic. And for that, I was called a Russian asset. You're, you know, trumpeting Putin's talking points, all of this nonsense, simply for speaking the truth and stating facts that, by the way, are still on U.S. Embassy Ukraine's website today, about how the U.S. has funded these bio labs in Ukraine."
Gabbard said, "But in order, to my point, in order to prevent another covid-like pandemic, or another major health incident that could affect us in the world, we have to end this gain of function research and provide the evidence that shows exactly why and how it's in our best interest, the American people's best interest, to bring about an end to it."
Fauci, at the height of the COVID pandemic, boasted, in a warning to those who had differing opinions, that if they were arguing with him, they were arguing with "the science."

In a 2-1 ruling Wednesday, the D.C. Court of Appeals has ruled that President Trump can move forward with slashing billions of dollars slated for foreign assistance via USAID, reversing a lower court's preliminary injunction.
Roughly $2 billion had been held back from the U.S. Agency for International Development as part of the work of DOGE, the Department of government Efficiency.
As Fox News reports, the lower court judge had required the Trump administration to resume its payments on nearly $1.98 billion in owed funds for USAID projects previously approved by Congress, after the Trump administration froze them earlier this year. The issue has been held up in federal court for months.
Writing for the majority, Judge Karen L. Henderson, a President George H.W. Bush appointee, said that the plaintiffs lacked the proper cause of action to sue the Trump administration over its decision to withhold the funds, or what is known as impoundment.
Henderson said the plaintiffs "may not bring a freestanding constitutional claim if the underlying alleged violation and claimed authority are statutory."
"Nor do the grantees have a cause of action under the APA because APA review is precluded by the Impoundment Control Act (ICA)," she added
Henderson was joined in the majority opinion by Judge Greg Katsas, a Trump appointee.
Fox noted that it was not immediately clear whether the plaintiffs in the case would seek to have their case reviewed en banc— or by the full panel for the Democrat-majority U.S. Court of Appeals in D.C.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi responded on X, "In a 2-1 ruling, the DC Circuit lifted an injunction ordering President Trump to spend hard-earned taxpayer dollars on wasteful foreign aid projects."

The chief of Washington's Metropolitan Police Department is being severely ridiculed online for apparently not knowing what the phrase "chain of command" means when asked about President Donald Trump's federal takeover of the District of Columbia to stem crime.
During a news conference Tuesday, Chief Pamela Smith was asked by a reporter: "Can you tell us what the chain of command is now?"
Smith's only response was: "What does that mean?"
The reporter continued: "Well, is it [Attorney General] Pam Bondi speaking to the mayor … or you, or how does this work?"
That's when D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser jumped to the microphones to rescue Smith who stepped back.
"The president has requested MPD services snd our home-rule charter outlines the process," the mayor explained.
"The president designated Attorney General Bondi as his proxy to request services through me."
During Tuesday's White House media briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt indicated the chain of command is Trump, Bondi and DEA Administrator Terry Cole who will be working with the MPD.
According to the police chief's official biography page, "Smith has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia.
"She is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy (Session 265). She is currently pursuing her Master of Public Safety Leadership at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law."
"She's also a sought-after speaker and panelist for many platforms focused on women in law enforcement, leadership, diversity and inclusion, and more."
Social media users wasted no time slamming Smith for her apparent ignorance to the "chain of command" question, saying:
"How the heck does a Police Chief not know the meaning of chain of command?"
"A brand new rookie cop knows that!"
"She's emblematic of pretty much every D.C. official."
"I guess D.C. is run entirely by black women because they have such a great track record of controlling black teen males."
"Unbelievable! I thought for sure she was the most qualified person for the job."
"As a woman, I have never seen so many incompetent liberal women (who hold elected positions) in my entire life."
"Can't wait until city officials are hired based on competency again."
"Another 'box checker' hire for the D.C. police department."
"Oh my goodness, another shining example of hiring to fulfill DEI quotas, I'd love to see the hiring process and interviews, I bet they are a hoot."
"She's a DEI hire whose sole accomplishments are DEI projects and hiring other DEIs. She didn't know the chain of command before this change, and the first thing Bondi should do is fire her, and all DEIs, then shut down all DEI projects."
"When diversity is the priority, disaster is the result."
"Is there any normal police chiefs left? Or are they all gay woman?"
"And that, folks … explains D.C. in one sentence."
"Why are all the police chiefs in the country old women that look like dudes?"
"I thought this was a joke! That it's real is even more funny!"

Just hours before announcing plans to clean up Washington, D.C., of crime and slums, President Donald Trump took aim at his fiercest critics, including Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.
Trump urged the Texas Democrat and others to take a cognitive exam to demonstrate their mental fitness, or lack thereof.
"'Congresswoman' Jasmine Crockett is a Low (Very!!!) I.Q. Individual, much in the mold of the AOC Plus Three Gang of Country Destroying Morons – Only slightly dumber," Trump said on Truth Social.
"Each of these political hacks should be forced to take a Cognitive Exam, much like the one I recently took while getting my 'physical' at our GREAT Washington, D.C., Military Hospital (WR!).
"As the doctors said, 'President Trump ACED it, something that is rarely seen!'
"These Radical Left Lunatics would all fail this test in a spectacular show of stupidity and incompetence. TAKE THE TEST!!!"
As WorldNetDaily reported Sunday, Crockett is now comparing Republicans in America to both the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis, while a journalist is exposing shocking "blight" in her own "ghetto as hell" district.
Crockett's comments came during an interview with MSNBC's Ali Velshi on Saturday.
The topic initially focused on the Texas gerrymandering controversy, as numerous Democrat lawmakers have fled the Lone Star State to prevent redistricting pushed by the GOP.
Crockett began by calling it "racial gerrymandering."
"It's not just even the fact that it's gerrymandering. I want to be clear, this is racial gerrymandering, specifically in the state of Texas," she explained.
Velshi noted: "Do you hear the stuff they're saying about Gene Wu, by the way, talking about Asians, like how he's connected to the Chinese Communist Party, like the racism? They're not doing a great job at keeping it, you know, keeping the lid on that pot."
Crockett responded: "No, I mean, honestly, when Trump came in the first time, they started to lift the hoods. Once Trump got in a second time, they decided the hoods were off. And listen, I'm perfectly fine with it because I want to know where you stand.
"I want to know that you're a despicable human being who lacks all morality, but wants to go around and teach and preach Christianity. I want to know who you are, because then I know how to deal with you.
"It is unfortunate that that is where we are, and it is one reason that it is so difficult for minorities to even try to listen to Republicans, because they consistently coddle people like neo-Nazis."
Meanwhile, journalist Benny Johnson traveled to Crockett's district in Texas, and on Saturday posted video of what he discovered.
"What I found shocked me. Business in collapse. Food lines. Trash everywhere. Skyrocketing crime. People are really hurting here," said Johnson.
"Jasmine is OBSESSED with attacking Trump. But what has she done to help the people of South Dallas?"
"It's ghetto as hell, it's broke and hard to look at," said Johnson. "So much blight."
"The people living in South Dallas were kind to us. They were warm and gentle. And they deserve better than a code-switching theater kid playing a hood rat representing them in Congress."
Last Tuesday, President Trump called Crockett "a very low IQ person" during a phone appearance on CNBC as he said "the Democrat Party is self-destructing."
"You have this woman, Crockett. She's a very low IQ person. Somebody said the other day she's one of the leaders of the party. I said, you got to be kidding."
The president concluded: "The Democrats are lost. They have Trump Derangement Syndrome so bad that they can't walk. They can't talk. They don't know where they're going."

With the end of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, thanks to the recission bill passed by Congress, which effectively defunded CPB, the Trump administration is reportedly pushing for PragerU to replace previous educational TV in government schools – something that's already happening in some states.
PragerU is a video-based provider of educational material for children and adults founded by conservative talk-show host Dennis Prager.
According to Vox, Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon recently introduced a partnership with the provider, confirmed by PragerU CEO Marissa Streit. The partnership has already created new material for an exhibit at the White House' new Founders Museum.
There are at least eight states that have gone to PragerU for educational material, Vox reported.

President Trump and his administration are celebrating his 200th day as the 47th POTUS, listing many accomplishments realized since his inauguration Jan. 20, 2025.
Notes a White House press release:
"As President Donald J. Trump celebrates 200 days in office, the winning is never-ending – and if his first 100 days were historic, his second set was equally as impressive. From securing unprecedented trade deals and locking in massive investments to unleashing American energy dominance and ending woke culture, President Trump has accomplished more in his first 200 days than most administrations do over an entire term – and the best is yet to come."
The list of "promises kept" begins with the historic passage of Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," which delivered "the largest tax cut in history for working- and middle-class Americans – including No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, and No Tax on Social Security – along with unprecedented tax relief for small businesses, farmers, workers, and families."
Other accomplishments cited include ongoing success on border security, "eight historic trade deals," a windfall in the stock market and strengthening of religious- expression rights in the workplace.
The White House also mentioned advances in AI and cryptocurrency, saying, "President Trump signed the GENIUS Act into law, establishing a regulatory framework for stablecoins and helping to ensure the U.S. remains the global leader in cryptocurrency, and unveiled a framework for achieving U.S. digital asset dominance – keeping President Trump's promise to ensure the future of crypto is American."
Social media has lit up with various images marking the president's 200th day.

The administration of President Donald Trump has released reams of previously secret government documents that now document the manipulations and machinations of those in the Barack Obama administration to try to torpedo Trump.
That includes evidence that the highest officials in the land, from Obama on down through then-Vice President Joe Biden and twice-failed Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton and more conspired to create lies linking Trump's campaign to Russia, the "Russiagate" ideology, leaving multiple federal laws in tatters.
Those agendas and actions, now revealed, have triggered developing congressional and Department of Justice investigations into those individuals who, reports have confirmed, could face felony counts. They also likely are not protected by a statute of limitations argument, even though the events date back years, because that time frame starts running only when the conspiracy's last events are uncovered.
Now one facet that remains to be investigated – and possibly prosecuted – has been revealed by Federalist, which reported that the FBI never investigated allegations then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch "coordinated with the Clinton campaign to suppress Hillary Clinton's email server scandal."
In that scenario, Clinton was under fire for placing national security secrets on a private computer server in her home.
At the time, James Comey, then of the FBI, bypassed protocols and arbitrarily announced no prosecutor would pursue such a case, essentially giving Clinton a pass.
The details have come out of the Clinton annex, a cache of documents released by Sen. Chuck Grassley, as well as the Durham Appendix, more recently released.
Those documents now appear "to confirm long-held suspicions about how the Clinton investigation was handled," the report explained.
Among the details now emerging are communications between senior Open Society official Leonard Benardo, another foundation figure, Jeffrey Goldstein, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, then the head of the Democrat National Committee, the report said.
For example, one memo explains that during a conversation with Goldstein, Schultz revealed Obama of pressuring Comey, through Lynch, to shut the investigation down, because it was damaging the Democrats and "threatening Obama's legacy."
The report said Schultz stated, "Obama has no intention to darken the final part of his presidency and 'legacy' by the scandal surrounding the main contender from the DP [Democratic Party]. To solve the problem, the President puts pressure on FBI Director James Comey through Attorney General Lynch, however, so far without concrete results."
A later conversation between the two made it worse, ""The political director of the Hillary Clinton staff Amanda Renteria regularly receives information from Attorney General Loretta Lynch on the plans and intentions of the FBI."
The Federalist noted, "If true, this would mean that while the FBI was actively investigating Clinton, the sitting Attorney General was secretly updating her campaign on its progress, compromising not only the DOJ's independence, but the entire premise of equal justice under law."
And the memo states Obama "sanctioned the use of all administrative levers to remove possibly negative effects from the FBI investigation of cases related to the Clinton Foundation and the email correspondence in the State Department."
The report cited original documentation to note that when confronted, Lynch was "stone-faced" and said nothing about the memos.
The report said substantiation for the information in the government documents is yet to be available, but "we do know that other parts of the same intelligence stream — specifically details of the Clinton plan to smear Trump with false Russia allegations — align perfectly with events as they unfolded."
The report said, "That leaves us with plausible intelligence suggesting the sitting attorney general may have secretly assured Clinton allies that the FBI's criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails would go nowhere."
The report added, "Even Lynch's alleged insistence that Comey publicly refer to the Clinton probe as a 'matter' rather than an 'investigation' suggested a deliberate effort to downplay and contain the scandal, an effort further underscored by her infamous secret tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton just days before the email investigation was closed."

The House Oversight Committee has issued subpoenas to Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Merrick Garland, James Comey and many others, establishing a schedule starting in just a few days and lasting through October, for their testimony in Congress.
Subpoenaed for depositions, and their testimony dates, are:
A report at the Washington Examiner charged the questions are going to be about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
"[Rep. James] Comer subpoenaed the DOJ for the Epstein files as the issue has continued heating up over the last several weeks, with a deadline of August 19," the report noted.
Epstein died in 2019 in a New York jail while awaiting further court proceedings on sex charges. Years earlier he had been convicted, and served a light sentence for other offenses.
The issue is not his personal behavior, criminal through that may have been; it's his relationship to many, many high-profile personalities, such as Bill Gates, and suspicions about their behaviors and, in fact, whether Epstein potentially supplied underage girls to them.
The Wall Street Journal just weeks ago alleged President Donald Trump's name was on a 2003 birthday care to Epstein, but Trump has denied that report is true.
Bill Clinton also allegedly was among those sending cards to Epstein.
Clinton's representatives already have conceded he repeatedly was on Epstein's private jet, the "Lolita Express," and reportedly on Epstein's Island, too.
"In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein's airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation," Clinton spokesman Angel Urena told CNN in 2019.
Trump said he rejected an offer to visit Epstein's island, and, in fact, dissociated himself from Epstein.
"I never went to the island, and Bill Clinton went there supposedly 28 times. I never went to the island, but Larry Summers, I hear, went there, he was the head of Harvard. And many other people that are very big people, nobody ever talks about them," Trump has charged.
The uproar over the situation heightened just weeks ago when the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation said there was no evidence Epstein blackmailed people or kept a "client list."
Trump has since said he wants all of the credible information about Epstein released, allowing for the redaction of information that could harm Epstein's victims.
The Oversight Committee has also issued a subpoena for Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend and convicted sex offender in his trafficking scheme, the report said.
