President Donald Trump long has criticized the leftist ideologies and political slants that are contained in the broadcasts of PBS, the Public Broadcast System funded by hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars each year.
He signed an executive order designating that that funding should halt, because of the bias.
The White House, just weeks ago, confirmed the organization was delivering "trash that is passed as news," and cited 24 examples such as its refusal to cover the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, a report linking crime fears with racism and the production of a film supporting "reparations," the idea that whites who never owned slaves have to pay huge amounts of cash to blacks who never were slaves.
Paul Kerger, PBS CEO, said she doesn't understand the claims of bias.
She said, "So that I don't understand the criticism and always when people say we see bias in your programs and by the way we get that on both sides. You know, I get as many calls from people on the more progressive side as on the conservative side that have issues every night with every night's broadcast. You know, I see this or I see that."
She blamed it on listeners: "We're in a difficult time right now in our country around news coverage where people forget that news is news and it is not about hearing information that is reaffirming what you think you know."
Some individual stations have sued, claiming that their First Amendment constitutional rights include a right to be handed tax money to use to promote their own ideologies.
A new report confirms that about the time of the election, about 90% of the coverage of the Trump administration was negative. That anti-Trump rhetoric on PBS now has been ramped up to 93%, according to a report by columnist Paul Bedard in the Washington Examiner.
"The premier weekly news show on PBS increased its negative coverage of President Donald Trump and Republicans to over 90%, a clear demonstration that the taxpayer-funded network has no plans to offer balanced coverage despite the White House's defund threats," the report explained.
"Over the past three months, Washington Week with the Atlantic has provided coverage and commentary on Trump that the conservative watchdog Media Research Center graded 93% negative."
It was just before the 2024 election that the show registered at 90% anti-Trump.
Trump, now in his second term following his defeat of Democrat Kamala Harris in the vote, has made defunding the bias a priority.
"But instead of giving Trump any credit for the Israel-Iran ceasefire, cutting inflation, leveling trade tariffs, or ridding the government of wasteful spending, the show and its stable of MAGA bashers have gone on a hate rampage," the report explained.
The report cited Clay Waters of the MRC's NewsBusters team.
"Even with supposedly bipartisan foreign policy issues on the table like Iran, the coverage only became more slanted, at 93% negative," he confirmed.
The evaluation found panelists spent 83 minutes opining on Republicans, with 87 minutes negative and six minutes positive.
"Show 'intros' by moderator Jeffrey Goldberg often set a mocking anti-Trump tone, not the 'civil discourse' promised," the report said. "In covering Trump's successful immigration agenda, 100% of the coverage was negative."

A new report reveals that sources are suggesting that perjury charges may be in the offing for John Brennan, Barack Obama's leftist CIA chief who was part of the team that pushed the lies from the Steele Dossier onto the American public during President Donald Trump's first campaign.
They were trying to stop his campaign, or even put him in jail, and failed, giving America's economy and reputation a chance to surge during his first term, results that now are being implemented again during Trump's second term.
At the heart of the scheme at that point was the fabrications made up in the dossier, done by a former British agent who was paid by the Hillary Clinton campaign through a campaign, a law firm and a campaign research corporation.
The text, "leaked" so that the lies would be reported to the American public as legitimate concerns, made wild and unsubstantiated claims about Trump, including that his campaign was colluding with Russia, claims that since have been debunked.
It is the the Federalist that has reported on the latest details of an investigation into Brennan, then-FBI head James Comey, and others participating in the attacks on Trump.
The report said now a still-classified staff report from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence reveals the Brennan-led 2016 Intelligence Community Assessment ICA on those Russian interference claims was "significantly worse and significantly more corrupt than conveyed in the memorandum released last week by CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
The report cited sources familiar with the report, who said the HPSCI staff report also reveals more details of the corruption.
The new revelations "suggest" that "Brennan may finally face justice for his role in the Russia-collusion hoax. In fact, sources familiar with closed-door testimony Brennan provided to Congress suggest perjury charges are in the offing.
One circumstance is that Brennan testified behind closed doors he did not advocate for the dossier of lies to be included in the ICA. But that conflicts with the new CIA review that detailed how he specifically included it in the ICA, "over the objections of career intelligence officials."
Brennan apparently worked hands-on with that report, according to the most recent CIA confirmations.
One "conclusion" created at the time was that Russia was interfering in the election to help Trump.
There was lack of an evidence to support Brennan's "high confidence" in that, the report said.
Further, the report confirmed, "Those sources told The Federalist that HPSCI, under the leadership of then-Chair Devin Nunes, 'found the ICA significantly worse and significantly more corrupt than was conveyed in the CIA report.' The staff report also reveals more details related to the ICA's report on Russia's 2016 influence campaign."
The chief of the HPSCI, Rep. Rick Crawford, R-Ark., already has noted that there's strong public interest in making the report public.
The Federalist report concluded, "Given his record, there is no reason to doubt that Director Ratcliffe will ensure the HPSCI staff report will be declassified when the time is right. Here, the public would be well advised to remember that transparency and accountability may sometimes be at cross purposes: It may well be that Director Ratcliffe or the other members of the Trump Administration working to rid D.C. of the Augean-stable levels of corruption have not yet finished investigating the additional details and/or individuals implicated in the HPSCI staff report. And if that is the case, perjury may be the least of Brennan's worries."

A constitutional expert, Jonathan Turley, who has not only testified before Congress on constitutional issues but also has represented members in court on those same topics, is warning a small college in Maine that it is entering the dangerous waters of "facilitating such abuse of students."
The warning comes in a dispute at the school, Eastern Maine Community College, where a professor reportedly "attacked a Christian conservative student for writing an essay about gun control."
The student, Katherine Parker, accused English instructor Carol Lewandowski "of engaging in raw political bias."
Further, Parker said the school failed to support her constitutional rights.
Assigned to do a speech, Parker chose the topic of the 2nd Amendment. When she submitted a draft to Lewandowski for review, "Parker said that she was told to change topics and was ridiculed over her religious and political beliefs," the report said.
The teacher apparently told Parker to "avoid proselytizing with logical fallacies in a college class," apparently condemning her 2nd Amendment statements as a "logical fallacy." She then added "Wasn't your former speech a testimony to finding Jesus. Did Jesus pack heat?"
Turley commented, "One would think that such an abusive and politically biased attack on a student would result in the termination of the professor. However, Parker alleges that the community college did not seem inclined to take action against Lewandowski. Parker says that she spoke to EMCC Dean of Academics Lynn Hunter, who 'assured me that discrimination was not tolerated at the community college, but she did not give me a clear answer when I asked her how she felt about what the teacher said to me — she assured me that she would be getting both sides of the story.'"
He explained, "Such abuse of a student over political and religious views should result in the termination of the professor. However, we have seen a high-level of toleration (and even support for) anti-conservative and anti-Republican positions by faculty. That includes teachers in Maine calling for Trump supporters to be 'taken out.'"
He continued, "It is now common to hear inflammatory language from professors advocating 'detonating white people,' denouncing police, calling for Republicans to suffer, strangling police officers, celebrating the death of conservatives, calling for the killing of Trump supporters, supporting the murder of conservative protesters and other outrageous statements. One professor who declared that there is 'nothing wrong' with such acts of violence as killing conservatives was actually promoted."
"We have not heard directly from Professor Lewandowski, but these communications are shocking. If true, the failure of the community college to take action immediately against Lewandowski is a chilling reminder of how higher education has lost its moorings. By retaining Lewandowski, the college is not just allowing but facilitating such abuse of students."
He said, "What happened to this student is the very antithesis of the values supporting higher education."

A new, explosive report is alleging the same Deep State forces that brought Barack Obama to the U.S. presidency are responsible for the meteoric rise of Zohran Mamdani, the socialist who is now the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor.
The analysis Sunday by Ethan White at Gazetteller.com says: "Barack Obama was never just a president. He was a weapon – carefully installed, heavily protected, and strategically unleashed to dismantle the American Republic from within.
"Now, on July 6, 2025, the fruits of his deception are visible for anyone who dares to see through the smokescreen of media propaganda and elite manipulation.
"And the clearest product of his globalist-engineered legacy is Zohran Mamdani – a foreign-born, socialist radical openly advocating the destruction of capitalism, national identity, and constitutional law."
The report says while President Donald Trump is still working to "undo the devastation" from the Obama years, "Mamdani emerges as the next key agent in the Deep State's unrelenting war against America.
"Make no mistake – this is a continuation of the same covert operation. What Obama began in secret, Mamdani now carries forward openly. And that's the most dangerous part."
White then probes into Obama's pre-presidential background, claiming the politician "was groomed for decades by Marxists, foreign ideologues, and anti-American globalists."
"His 'father figure,' Frank Marshall Davis, was a card-carrying Communist. His stepfather in Indonesia raised him in Islam. His early years were spent absorbing foreign ideologies, not American principles. By the time he returned to the U.S., he was already radicalized and fully embedded in anti-Western thought."
White says Obama's entry into U.S. politics was orchestrated with the help of George Soros' network and elite think tanks such as the Brookings Institution to polish, script and market him like a corporate product.
"He wasn't elected – he was installed," says White. "His ties to the New Party, an offshoot of the Democratic Socialists of America, were buried. His sealed college records, the suspicious gaps in his personal history, and the sudden erasure of his Pakistani travel logs are not coincidences. They are redactions. And redactions only exist to hide truths too explosive for public exposure.
"Obama's presidency was a Trojan horse operation. Under the guise of "hope and change," he launched a campaign of systematic erosion – weaponizing federal agencies (IRS, FBI, DOJ), expanding surveillance, empowering Iran, defunding the military, and feeding racial division. He wasn't leading America. He was softening it for conquest – economic, cultural, and spiritual."
White then fast-forwards to 2025, writing: "Zohran Mamdani – born in Uganda, raised in post-colonial Africa, shaped by South African leftist movements – is now being positioned to assume the mayorship of New York City. That's not a random rise. It's a continuation of the Obama blueprint. But Mamdani is different in one key way: he no longer needs to pretend."
He noted while Obama carefully hid his Marxist roots, Mamdani is out in the open with his support for socialism.
"He's not interested in preserving the system. He wants to torch it," White states. "He's the next phase of the global elite's endgame for America – raw, weaponized, and unleashed at full speed."
"At a 2021 Young Democratic Socialists of America event, Mamdani said it plainly: the mission is 'not simply to raise class consciousness, but to win socialism.' That's not reform. That's replacement. He's not trying to adjust capitalism – he's trying to eliminate it."
White continues:
Mamdani doesn't believe in racial equality. He believes in weaponizing race to divide and conquer. He supports taxing white people more. He promotes freezing rents to bankrupt landlords. He wants government-run grocery stores, forced wealth seizure, and the complete abolition of billionaires – while ignoring the elite billionaires who fund his rise.
Obama built the framework. Mamdani is enforcing it. And the collapse is no longer hypothetical.
If Mamdani wins the New York City mayoral race this fall – which the mainstream media has already practically declared – brace for a violent acceleration of collapse. Private investment is drying up. Real estate moguls are already eyeing exits to Florida. Banks are issuing warnings about frozen capital.
Rent control and public housing mandates are driving landlords into default. Police morale is crumbling. NYPD sources have already leaked internal memos warning of a 'mass resignation wave' if Mamdani is elected.
This isn't failure. It's sabotage. And it's working exactly as planned.
The global elites behind Mamdani and Obama don't care about outcomes. They want collapse. Their agenda is depopulation, total surveillance, economic sterilization, and cultural annihilation.
They push radicals like Mamdani into power not because he's competent – but because he will obey. Obey Soros. Obey Klaus Schwab. Obey the unelected World Government syndicate that is now being openly discussed under the cover of 'climate treaties' and 'U.N. emergency frameworks.'
This is why they fear President Donald J. Trump. This is why they rigged elections, buried truths, and unleashed lawfare operations to stop him. He's not just a political threat – he's a systemic disruption to their entire engineered collapse.
Trump doesn't bend to Soros. He doesn't bow to Davos. He doesn't accept the Obama legacy. He dismantles it. That's why they spent eight years undermining him and are now doing everything to stop his second term from restoring the Republic.
And while the elites flood cities like New York with ideological bombs like Mamdani, Trump continues to rally patriots, rebuild sovereign economies, and expose the networks behind the curtain. On July 4, 2025, just two days ago, he reminded the nation in Philadelphia: 'We are one nation under God – not under Schwab, Soros, or Beijing.'
White says we're currently in the "final stage of a long, slow, and deliberate sabotage operation."
"From Obama's whispered socialist lies to Mamdani's loud, unapologetic war against American capitalism, we are watching a timeline unfold that was written years ago in backrooms filled with elites who despise everything America stands for.
"Mamdani isn't just another radical. He's a signal. A siren. Obama was the blueprint. Mamdani is the execution. And if we don't stop it now, there may not be a second chance."
As WorldNetDaily reported in 2011, Donald Trump, five years before he was elected president, was among the major names in America suggesting Obama's presidency could be "illegal" if legitimate proof were not provided demonstrating the commander in chief is indeed a "natural born citizen" of the U.S.
"To be honest with you, I want him to have a birth certificate," Trump told Greta Van Susteren of Fox News at the time, "because [otherwise] that would mean that his presidency was, I guess you'd have to say, illegal. You have to be born in the United States. I hope that he was born in the United States. I hope – but I want to get rid of the word hope, I want to know for sure – I hope that he was born in the United States and I hope this doesn't become a big issue."
"He spent millions of dollars trying to get away from this issue. Millions of dollars in legal fees trying to get away from this issue. I brought it up just routinely. All of a sudden a lot of facts are emerging, and I'm starting to wonder myself whether he was born in this country," Trump said on "Fox & Friends."

The lawfare schemes assembled against President Donald Trump while he was in office, and then during the four years before his second term, likely have no equal.
He was charged in an organized crime count, he was accused of fraud when the "victims" said they'd like to do business with him again, he was accused of fomenting insurrection, he was accused of misstating business costs by labeling legal fees legal fees, he was hit with a SWAT team raid over paperwork disagreements.
The lawfare goal was clear: Not just to try to dissuade him from running for a second term, which Democrats feared, but to actually find a way to put him in jail to guarantee that result.
Now one senator has promised to name names of those involved in the schemes.
Some already are known. Letitia James, New York's attorney general who now is under investigation herself for fraud, was one. So was Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. Several judges were in on it.
But all will be revealed, according to Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa.
According to a report at the Gateway Pundit, he said, "I'm going to make sure as chairman of this committee, by listening to whistleblowers, getting documents that have been kept from Congress of the United States, I'm going to make sure that everybody is exposed and the documents prove it for the eight years that the opposition was trying to put President Trump in prison."
He said, "What we're doing, whether we had Republican or Democrat administrations over my years in the United States Congress, this President and his appointees to the Department of Justice and the FBI have given us the first real cooperation that we should have had under both Republican and Democratic Presidents before. But it was just obfuscate and cover up and not let the truth out because it's going to be embarrassing.
"So we're getting some whistleblowers their jobs back. We are releasing documents because I want everybody who had anything to do since President Trump went down that golden elevator in 2015 have been trying to get him out of the presidency or when he was out of the presidency, getting into prison."
He said, "We don't have to put up with that in America. President Trump hadn't put it in America. And I want to thank President Trump and his administration for helping me make this stuff more transparent and never see that it happens again.
In fact, even during Trump's first campaign, the Hillary Clinton campaign worked with a former British agent, a legal team and a campaign advising team to fabricate the Steele Dossier which made all sorts of wild allegations about Trump.
The claims later were debunked entirely.

There's no doubt President Donald Trump is trying to restore peace around the globe, after multiple wars broke out under the U.S. leadership of Joe Biden.
Some have been reduced, while others still rage. Key right now are the wars between Iran and Israel and Russia and Ukraine. The Israel-Iran conflict appears to be subsiding, while the Russia-Ukraine conflict isn't.
But among the various projects on which Trump has worked is a peace deal between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
That one was ignored by many media organizations.
WND reported that it was ending three decades of war.
Vice President JD Vance praised Trump's role, "If I think about what I know about these two countries, for 30 years, pretty much the entire time that I can remember these two countries being in the news, much of the story has been about them fighting one another, about them killing one another. And now, we can look forward to a future where my children will look at this moment as the beginning of a new story, a story of prosperity and peace."
And while that one hasn't been the topic of nightly news reports, or even weekly reports, a commentary at the Washington Stand notes it may be the most important of all, the "one we all overlooked."
That's because of the atrocities involved.
Random beheadings en masse. Mass rapes. Dozens of bodies of decapitated victims, lootings, burnings, terrorism, butchery, for decades.
"This is the hellish situation that the Trump administration has been intensely negotiating behind the scenes to stop," the commentary explained.
"They were going at it for many years, and with machetes," the president emphasized. "It is one of the worst wars that anyone has ever seen. And I just happened to have somebody that was able to get it settled."
The Washington Stand explained, "In an incredible development, the president celebrated a peace deal between the two nations, which could end the decades-long bloodshed that has ravaged the two bordering countries.
"We just ended a war that was going on for 30 years with six million people dead," Trump said, as the foreign ministers flanked him. "No other president could do it."
The ceasefire "is one of the most consequential achievements of Trump's term," the commentary said.
The article cited multiple atrocities, include when "rebels" founded up Christians, tied them together and hauled them to a nearby church where later the grisly scene "defied imagination," as there were bodies of dozens of men, women and children, all decapitated. Manhy of the attacks are by Islamic terrorists on members of the Christian population.
"While Americans' attention has been on Israel, Iran, Ukraine, Russia, China, and our own borders, a vicious war has raged between Rwanda and the DRC, a systematic campaign of rape, terror, and butchery against the predominately Christian nation of the DRC. For months, that quiet invasion has only intensified, as a rebel force linked to Rwanda — the M23 — along with the Islamist Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) tried to seize key territories of the second largest country in Africa and control the mineral-rich land, said to be sitting on $24 trillion worth of natural resources," the commentary said.
"Thousands have been killed — shot in cold blood, blown to pieces with shoulder-fired rockets, or caught up in the massive explosions since the conflict peaked earlier this year," it explained.
"In just two months, more than 10,000 cases of rape and sexual violence — almost half against children as young as 10 — have been documented (countless others were not). Until recently, the locals 'describe[d] a state of near lawlessness in city centers, where gangs of armed men, some escaped from local prisons, prey on civilians using weapons left behind by the Congolese army,'" it said.
"Under the terms of the agreement, The Washington Post reports, the two sides agreed to 'halt aggression against each other and to cease support for armed groups on each other's territory.' They also pledged to try to cooperate economically, including on 'mining and processing materials and other resources that link both countries, in partnership, as appropriate, with the U.S. government and U.S. investors.'"
Joel Kappa, a Fulbright alumnus and resident of Congo, told the Stand, he is "deeply grateful to President Trump's administration and its commitment to end the war."
"I'm praying," Kappa continued, "that God will continue to use President Trump's administration to end this long and meaningless conflict between DRC and Rwanda. I'm convinced that the time for peace has come, and we must learn now to love and live together like brothers and sisters. That's what God wants from us as His children, and I'm happy to see that President Trump and his administration understand it clearly."
One Rwandan official said Trump, because of his work, "deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Absolutely."

Back in the runup to the 2012 presidential election, as Barack Obama was seeking to maintain an iron grip on the "fundamental changes" he wanted in the United States for another four years, his administration weaponized the IRS.
That was when a lot of those "tea party" organizations were being organized. Also there were a lot of Christian groups that, like the tea party groups, were seeking legal IRS status so they could advocate regarding the issues that exploded under Obama's regime.
The IRS was used to identify those organizations, then deny them permission to operate. This was done by repeatedly asking long lists of questions – one interrogatory demanded to know the subject of the prayers of the group's members – and more.
Also, when delays didn't seem to provide the answer, the IRS simply declined to make a decision, making groups wait months, even years.
The result was that the speech of those organizations, which likely would have been highly critical of Obama, was suppressed.
Eventually, after the election, the schemes were exposed, and the IRS was called to account for the injuries it inflicted.
But the provisions in the IRS code used by Obama for that agenda still exist.
Which is why, according to a report at the Federalist, there's a lawsuit to change them.
The action has been brought on behalf of Freedom Path, a "now nearly inactive conservative issue advocacy organization" that filed for tax-exempt status in 2011.
The IRS grilled the organization about its donors in 2012, but movement only began on the request when two years later the scandal created under the direction of then-IRS official Lois Lerner wound down.
Then finally, in 2020, nine years after application, the IRS denied the group's nonprofit status based on its "Facts and Circumstances" evaluation – the agenda that was used then, and still exists.
Lex Politica attorney Chris Gober has been fighting for changes, the report said.
The case is back in court before Judge Jia M. Cobb in Washington soon.
The vague factors in the list are used by the IRS, which then can decide whether the group advocates over "issues" or whether it is involved in "political campaign" work, which precludes tax-exempt status.
Vague factors considered by the IRS include things such as whether, "The position of the candidate on the public policy issue has been raised as distinguishing the candidate from others in the campaign, either in the communication itself or in other public communications," and "The communication is not part of an ongoing series of substantially similar advocacy communications by the organization on the same issue."
The factors are subjective, so there are no clear standards for IRS officials making those decisions.
The circumstances, the report explained, are similar to those in the 2010 Supreme Court decision Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. The FEC then had been using a similar 11-factor test to decide if a group's communication was used to express political advocacy, and the court said it was ambiguous and interfered with free speech.
Anthony Kennedy, then on the court, said in that decision, "The FEC has created a regime that allows it to select what political speech is safe for public consumption by applying ambiguous tests. If parties want to avoid litigation and the possibility of civil and criminal penalties, they must either refrain from speaking or ask the FEC to issue an advisory opinion approving of the political speech in question. Government officials pore over each word of a text to see if, in their judgment, it accords with the 11-factor test they have promulgated. This is an unprecedented governmental intervention into the realm of speech."

Just hours after President Donald Trump discussed the possibility of deporting Elon Musk to South Africa, the former DOGE chief appeared to change his recent negative tune about Trump, giving the commander in chief credit for resolving numerous world conflicts.
"Credit where credit is due," Musk posted on X early Wednesday.
"@realDonaldTrump has successfully resolved several serious conflicts around the world."
Musk attached a message Trump had posted Tuesday on Truth Social, in which the president stated: "My Representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza. Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War.
"The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
Musk recently has been vocal in his opposition to Trump's Big Beautiful Bill due to concerns about adding to the national debt.
On Monday, Musk wrote: "It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!
"Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people."
Trump pushed back early Tuesday, saying on Truth Social, "Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!"
When reporters asked Trump later Tuesday morning if he would deport Musk, the president said, "We'll have to take a look."
"We might have to put DOGE on Elon," Trump added, referring to the Department of Government Efficiency that Musk previously led. "You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon."
Musk responded to Trump, saying: "So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now."
On Monday, Musk vowed to bankroll primary challengers of any Republican lawmaker who voted to pass Trump's bill "if it is the last thing I do on this Earth."
"He should've known I wouldn't do that, I couldn't do that. I campaigned on those things for two years. I never understand why he did what he did, but he's not going to get his mandate, and he better be careful, because he might not get anything else. You know what that means, right?" he said.

Reports have confirmed that John McConnell Jr., a federal judge in Rhode Island, long has been a financial supporter of Democrats, contributing some $60,000 to the party's candidates.
He was nominated to the bench by Democrat Barack Obama.
He's a former treasurer of the Rhode Island Democratic Committee and chaired the campaign of Providence Mayor David Cicilline.
But what's gotten attention now is that he's also documented as being part of an organization that was funded, at least partly, by grants from the federal government.
Then at the same time he, instead of recusing himself from the case over government grants and funding, sided with a team of Democrat state attorneys general who oppose President Donald Trump's agenda to freeze and cut federal funds being handed out through grants to nongovernmental groups.
A report at Fox News explains that U.S. Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Darrell Issa, R-Calif., are asking the judicial council for the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals to investigate McConnell over that issue.
Their charge is that the judge has a financial conflict of interest in the outcome of the issue.
McConnell has been making decisions in "a pivotal funding freeze case in Rhode Island brought by 22 states with Democratic attorneys general. The case centers on the Office of Management and Budget's order in January that federal agencies implement a multibillion-dollar suspension of federal benefits."
States say they get the money no matter what because Congress approved it, and McConnell agreed, blocking Trump from suspending those payments.
The fight now has gone over McConnell's head, to the 1st Circuit.
But in his ruling, he had claimed the Trump suspension "fundamentally undermines the distinct constitutional roles of each branch of our government." He claimed the freeze wasn't rational and showed no "thoughtful consideration" for the consequences.
Issa and Jordan pointed out that McConnell long has been a leader with Crossroads Rhode Island, an organization that has gotten "millions of dollars in federal and state grants."
"Given Crossroads's reliance on federal funds, Judge McConnell's rulings had the effect of restoring funding to Crossroads, directly benefitting the organization and creating a conflict of interest," Jordan and Issa wrote.
An earlier complaint over McConnell's ties to Crossroads, and his decision affecting that group's funding, was filed by America First legal.
And Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., already has filed articles of impeachment against the judge.

Numerous firefighters and police officers in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, have been shot and killed in an apparent ambush on Sunday, with someone purportedly intentionally setting a blaze to lure the first responders to the hotspot to be fired upon.
"Send law enforcement now! There's an active shooter zone!" shouted one firefighter pleading for help on his radio.
"Everybody's shot up here! Law enforcement! Code 3 now up here!"
"We now have two deaths. We have an unknown amount of casualties," said Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris.
"We still have civilians coming off of that mountain. We might have civilians that are stuck or in shock on that mountain. So this is a very, very fresh situation."
"It is going to be a tough next couple of hours, absolutely," Norris added. "I'm hoping that somebody has a clear shot, and is able to neutralize. Because they are not, at this point in time, showing any evidence of wanting to surrender. So as soon as somebody has a clear shot, I encourage them to take that shot, neutralize the threat."
"FBI assets are headed to the scene in Coeur d'Alene to provide tactical and operational support, said FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino. "It is an active scene."
"Multiple heroic firefighters were attacked today while responding to a fire in North Idaho," said Gov. Brad Little.
"This is a heinous direct assault on our brave firefighters. I ask all Idahoans to pray for them and their families as we wait to learn more. Teresa and I are heartbroken."
"As this situation is still developing, please stay clear from the area to allow law enforcement and firefighters to do their jobs."
NBC affiliate KHQ in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, reports: "Police and emergency crews are responding to an active shooter situation, where multiple firefighters were reportedly shot.
"Kootenai County Deputies are asking residents to avoid the area. According to Northern Lakes Fire Protection Chief Pat Riley, firefighters were reportedly shot while responding to a brush fire in the area of East Nettleton Gulch Road.
"According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, there is an active shooter situation at Canfield Mountain. Injuries have been reported, but the extent is unknown. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area.
"Fire crews were forced to pull back, and the brush fire remains an active threat. Authorities urge residents nearby to remain cautious and alert, as the situation is still unfolding."
Kootenai County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Howard told ABC News that "when fire personnel responded to the blaze, they started getting shot at by an unknown person in the woods."
"Law enforcement is investigating whether the fire could have been intentionally set in order to lure first responders to the scene, Howard added."
