A school district that lost at the U.S. Supreme Court when it demanded it had the right to push deviant sex ideologies, such as transgenderism, onto children without their parents' permission still is imposing its lessons on the young and impressionable, according to a report.
It is the Federalist that confirmed that schools in Montgomery County, Maryland, continue to push leftist agendas.
It now is forcing children as young as 12 to "decipher numerous gender ideology terms in a vocabulary lesson, without parental knowledge, permission, or the ability to opt out," the report said.
WND had reported when the Supreme Court decided Mahmoud v. Taylor, ruling that schools are not allowed to force their own religious beliefs onto young children, through mandatory lessons and a ban on opt-outs, because that infringes on the religious rights of the parents.
The case came out of Montgomery County where school officials adopted that mandatory LGBT indoctrination for children as young as three years old. Originally, schools offered an opt-out for parents who didn't want the school's religious ideologies taught to their children, but the school district, faced with a flood of such demands from parents, soon decided to force all children into the lessons.
A commentary after the decision at the Federalist noted the dissenters were Sonio Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Jackson, who famously established her place in history by telling her Senate confirmation hearing she was unable to define "woman."
"The majority opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, sided with the parents, saying, 'A government burdens the religious exercise of parents when it requires them to submit their children to instruction that poses 'a very real threat of undermining' the religious beliefs and practices that the parents wish to instill … And a government cannot condition the benefit of free public education on parents' acceptance of such instruction.'"
But, the commentary noted, "That is not how the three leftists see it. In fact, they see parents — especially religious ones — as roadblocks to education."
The new report said, "Even after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling stating the district had to allow parents to opt their children out of the coursework, the county is still trying to force-feed young teenagers and preteens 'transgender' propaganda."
The evidence is from Defending Education which obtained from a parent the school's own lesson.
"This vocabulary lesson requires that students buy into an ideology that many reject," DE Senior Director of Communications Erika Sanzi told The Federalist. "Does MCPS require that students subscribe to gender ideology in order to fulfill the district's family life requirements for middle schoolers? Because if so, that seems like viewpoint discrimination in a public school."
The assignment for seventh-graders from last month was part of a "sexual education" lesson and required students to define "sex assigned at birth," "gender identity," "transgender" and more.
There is no apparent opt-out available, "ostensibly so that parents did not find out about the content," the report said.
Experts warned that the agenda ordered discontinued had teachers "correct" students if they "expressed errant or opposing views of gender."
That agenda had teachers telling students they were being "hurtful" if they questioned how a boy could become a girl.
Scientifically, they can't.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom says he simply cannot stomach politicians who lie to the public, despite plenty of evidence the Democrat himself has deceived Americans.
Appearing on "Meet the Press" with NBC's Kristen Welker, Newsom indicated: "There is nothing I dislike more than a politician that just sits there and lies to you. And we all just sit there rolling our eyes going, 'Give me a break.'"
When asked about the decline of Joe Biden's cognitive abilities and why Newsom did not speak up, the governor said: "I'm not gonna substitute myself for someone else or for popular opinion. I'm gonna express my relationship to my truth with the former president of the United States including at the end of his term quite literally in December, which was a master class of foreign policy and domestic policy which I will never forget. … There was nothing to suggest [any problems with Biden's mental acuity]."
But the record tells a different story when it comes to Newsom's own veracity.
For instance, in a high-profile March interview with Charlie Kirk before his assassination, the governor claimed no one in his office used the woke term "LatinX" in reference to someone in the Hispanic community.
"By the way, not one person in my office has ever used the word LatinX," Newsom told Kirk. "I just didn't even know where it came from. What are people talking about?"
However, Newsom himself on many occasions has used that term, and Kirk posted a video noting, "CNN put together a brutal compilation of Gov. Gavin Newsom personally and repeatedly using the phrase.
"If he'll lie like this, directly to my face, on camera … ."
Newsom himself used the word LatinX on numerous posts on X.
Last month, as WorldNetDaily reported, Trump officials fact-checked Newsom after he promoted a false claim the Trump administration was closing parts of the Interstate 5 highway for a military showcase.
"Donald Trump and JD Vance think that shutting down the I-5 to shoot out missiles from ships is how you respect the military. PUT ASIDE YOUR VANITY PARADE AND PAY OUR TROOPS INSTEAD," Newsom wrote on X.
"Governor Newsom is deliberately spreading Fake News to Californians to fearmonger and score cheap political points," Taylor Van Kirk, the vice president's press secretary, told the Daily Signal.
William Martin, a special assistant to the president and communications director to the vice president, responded to Newsom's claim: "This is complete fake news. The Marine Corps said they are NOT shutting down the I-5 highway and that the event at Camp Pendleton is a training exercise. Also, President Trump IS paying the troops despite Chuck Schumer's efforts to hold their salaries hostage."
On Oct. 26, Newsom, who has been under fire recently for granting commercial driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, made no secret he's interested in following Donald Trump as the next American president.
Appearing on "Sunday Morning" on CBS, Newsom answered positively when asked about his White House ambition.
"Yeah, I'd be lying otherwise. I'd just be lying. And I'm not – I can't do that," Newsom said.
"I think the biggest challenge for anyone that runs of any office is people see right through you if you don't have that why. You doing it for the wrong reasons."

President Donald Trump has used his business expertise to advocate for Americans' finances in the White House, from demanding better trade deals with foreign nations to fighting inflation, which exploded to more than 9% for a while under Joe Biden.
One plan to save money, even generate income, now is being advanced by Sen. Joni Ernst R-Iowa, who has proposed the idea of letting the government sell its vacant buildings, eliminating ongoing maintenance costs and even generating sales price income.
"For too long, the entrenched bureaucracy has used red tape to prevent these ghost towns from being sold off," she said, in a report at Fox News.
The Disposal Act "immediately lists six prime pieces of D.C. real estate on the auction block and slashes through pointless regulations to fast-track the sale of the government's graveyard of lifeless real estate to generate hundreds of millions of dollars and save taxpayers billions," the report said.
It was several years ago she released a report on the federal government's lack of use of many buildings, in her "naughty list of no-show federal agencies" following the COVID-19 pandemic closures.
Her plan is the "Disposing of Inactive Structures and Properties by Offering for Sale And Lease (DISPOSAL) Act."
It would put on the market immediately the Frances Perkins Federal Building, home to the United States Department of Labor; the Department of Energy's James V. Forrestal Building; the Theodore Roosevelt Federal Building, which is home to the Office of Personnel Management; Robert C. Weaver Federal Building, where the Department of Housing and Urban Development was headquartered before announcing in June it planned to move; United States Department of Agriculture's headquarters at the Department of Agriculture South Building; and the Hubert H. Humphrey Federal Building, which headquarters the Department of Health and Human Services.
The report noted there are an estimated 7,700 vacant federal buildings nationwide, and nearly 2,300 more that are mostly empty.
"The Office of Management and Budget reported in 2023 that the annual cost of operating federal buildings deemed 'underutilized' sits at $81.346 million, while the General Services Administration reported in 2025 that deferred maintenance and repair backlogs at federal buildings exceeds $6 billion and will balloon to more than $20 billion in five years,." Fox reported.
The legislation lines up a path for more building sales in the future.
Ernst is part of the Senate's support team for Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, which is working to cut spending and save taxpayers money.
Trump himself has expressed concern over federal workers who stopped showing up at their offices during COVID, and haven't returned.
"We have hundreds of thousands of federal workers who have not been showing up to work. My administration will reclaim power from this unaccountable bureaucracy, and we will restore true democracy to America again. Any federal bureaucrat who resists this change will be removed from office immediately," he charged.

A town in South Carolina is changing its ordinances and has agreed to pay damages for its scheme to censor a Christian resident's statement of faith.
It is First Liberty Institute that battled in court on behalf of Ernest Giardino, and reached the settlement.
While the town of Chapin will pay "nominal damages" for its actions, it also will be held to account for lawyers' fees.
It is a consent order, adopted by a federal court, that now enjoins Chapin and its officials from enforcing an ordinance that kept Giardino from holding religious signs on public ways in the town without a permit.
The two sides "agreed on the contents of the order" after town officials moved to change their ordinance.
"Mr. Giardino just wants to share his Christian faith with others," said Nate Kellum, lawyer for First Liberty Institute. "We commend the town for revising the ordinance language so Mr. Giardino can live out his faith in the public sphere."
The legal team explained, "A Chapin police officer prevented Ernest Giardino from holding a religious sign on a public way at the intersection of Old Lexington Road and Chapin Road on June 20, 2024, reading 'Trust Christ He paid the price' on one side and 'He Saved Others—Jesus—He'll Save You' on the other. The officer informed him that he needed Chapin's permission to share his message with a sign."
He soon was told that city requirements demanded a two-week notice for him to proclaim his beliefs, and then limited him to 30 minutes, including that he would need to change sidewalk corners every 15 minutes.
When the dispute arose, First Liberty Institute filed a case in federal court.
At the time, Kellum said, "No one should be forced to ask the government's permission to express their faith in a public space. The First Amendment is his permit. Like any citizen in any city in America, Mr. Giardino is free to peacefully share his religious beliefs on a public sidewalk."
The case challenged the constitutionality of the town's agenda. It's because the town rule regulating "demonstrations" is written vaguely enough to allow officials to claim that a man holding a sign is, in fact, a demonstration.
It accused the town of violating the First and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution as well as the state's Religious Freedom Act.
The case filing charged, "Through signs, Giardino can convey his message without causing anyone to stop or speak with him. Individuals in vehicles can read the statements on his sign as they drive by him. Giardino typically holds a sign in a public space for over one hour and in the late afternoon during rush hour and/or after schools have let students out, to maximize the number of people who can view the messaging on his sign. He does not use amplification or project his message orally to share his religious beliefs. He remains silent when he holds a sign, only speaking with individuals who approach him for conversation."
The filing reveals Giardino tried to obtain relief from the town without legal action, but was told by one official the town believes its local requirement "supersedes the Constitution because it's a local ordinance."

Huge numbers of Americans want to roll back Joe Biden's pro-abortion agenda that created vast threats when his Food and Drug Administration removed a lost list of safeguards.
For example, the national survey from McLaughlin & Associates confirmed that 7 of 10 likely voters, including 57% of liberal voters, think one requirement should be for a doctor's visit before abortion chemicals are prescribed.
"Seven in 10 voters agree it 'makes sense' to bring back safeguards that were removed by Biden's FDA," the survey found, and, "Although the majority of voters in the survey identified as pro-choice, voters across the board also have 'significant doubts' about the safety of the FDA's current policy allowing mail-order abortion drugs."
"The harmful impact of Biden's FDA removing safeguards on abortion drugs, like in-person doctor visits, is an issue that overwhelmingly unites voters of all stripes. As a growing body of research indicates these drugs are far more dangerous than advertised, and new horror stories emerge day after day of women coerced and drugged against their will, landing in the ER and even dying along with their babies, Americans' concerns are more than valid. Even a strong majority of liberal voters agree in-person doctor visits and screening for coercion and abuse are simply common sense, yet the Biden FDA recklessly tossed them aside to push a pro-abortion agenda," explained Marjorie Dannenfelsler, the head of SBA Pro-Life America.
"The Trump administration promised a fresh review of the evidence on the risks of abortion drugs, and we eagerly await their following through. Right now, at minimum, they should heed the emerging science and the will of the people and immediately reinstate in-person doctor visits that existed before Biden's harmful COVID policy. Twenty-one states whose laws are being undermined and their most vulnerable populations threatened by the flood of out-of-state drugs will thank them."
The survey comes on the heels of an FDA decision to approve use of a new generic chemical to cause abortions.
The survey said two-thirds are concerned "abortion drugs are used by abusers to cover up rape, exploitation and sex trafficking," and a majority "disapprove of allowing out-of-state nurses and pharmacists to send abortion drugs to women in any state without any in-person medical care or a doctor's visit."
Eighty percent say "no one should be able to get abortion drugs online or from a foreign country and be able to give them to a woman without her knowledge or consent," and some 75% say "ensuring in-person medical care, including a doctor visit, is a matter of informed consent and not infringing on women's rights."
The reason for the expansion of the abortion industry's reach, too, was identified: "More than 7 in 10 voters agree drug manufacturers have pressured the FDA to lower standards to sell more drugs."
Just weeks ago, 51 U.S. senators led by Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., wrote to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary urging them to take swift action.

With the New York City race for mayor reaching a fever pitch, U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., went on what's being called "an unhinged, screaming rant" Sunday while rallying for Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani, who continues to lead against Independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
"This city was built by the Irish escaping famine, Italians fleeing fascism, Jews escaping the Holocaust …" AOC yelled, proffering a variety of accents.
"Black Americans fleeing slavery and Jim Crow. Latinos seeking a better life! Native peoples standing for themselves!"
Her screams into the microphone became so loud, they actually overmodulated and distorted the audio as she concluded: "Asian-Americans coming together in Queens! In Brooklyn! In the Bronx! In Manhattan! In Staten Island! In this country, in a vision to build the freest, toughest, and greatest city on earth!"
AOC added: "We must remember in a time such as this, we are not the crazy ones, New York City. We are not the outlandish ones, New York City. They want us to think we are crazy. We are sane!"
Journalist Benny Johnson reacted to AOC, saying: "New York is cooked."
Cristina Laila at the Gateway Pundit noted "AOC's meltdown was reminiscent of Howard Dean's 'Dean Scream Speech' that ended his career during the 2004 Iowa caucuses."
Others commented:
"BREAKING: AOC Mistakes Campaign Rally for Exorcism; Audience Unsure Who's Possessed."
"She sounds like a Disney villain losing her mind screaming like that."
"Listening to her makes me so grateful to have hearing loss."
"It may sound funny, but I don't think we should underestimate AOC. She is dumber than a box of Q-tips, but she has a charisma that gets certain people fired up."
"New York is about to get what the majority of New Yorkers deserve. Sane New Yorkers need to either move away or invest in barrels of personal lubricant."

State education bureaucrats routinely set "standards" for schools to include certain things in their classrooms for students to learn.
But too often, they are reflecting an agenda or ideology, not the simple facts, according to a report at the Federalist.
For instance, even in Republican majority Alaska, its latest iteration of requirements, dated just last year, have no mention of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and even Christianity.
"Alaska's new social studies standards don't mention the Nome Gold Rush. They don't mention the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. They don't mention William Egan, the state of Alaska's first governor, and they don't mention Sarah Palin, who ran for Vice President of the United States. There's a lot more that's missing in the Alaska social studies standards, but you can tell right away that something is wrong when Alaska's social studies standards leave Alaska's children ignorant of the headlines of Alaska's history and the most famous Alaskans," the report explained.
"The names of Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln are absent. But so are words like Christianity, Protestantism, and Catholicism; any hint that technological advance might have improved Americans' standard of living; and virtually all of the narrative, events, and heroes of America's wars."
The report noted those bureaucrats appear to be on "radical autopilot" for those social studies standards.
Americans expect such indoctrinations in leftist states like Rhode Island and Minnesota, where materials "strip out factual content, and ignore or slander the history of Western civilization and America, and call it 'social studies instruction.'"
"But radical activists embedded in state education departments do the same thing in red states whenever policymakers and citizens aren't looking. That's what just happened in Alaska," the Federalist said.
The state standards from the Department of Education and Early Development lack "basic facts of American history, much of how our government works, and our foundational documents of liberty. The standards also introduced substantial new amounts of politicized material."
The results came about because state officials outsourced much of the work on the "standards" to "radical activists who have captured the national social studies establishment."
Sources included the extremism of the National Council for the Social Studies, the College, Career, and Civic Life Framework for Social Studies State Standards, and more, the report said.
The result was the injection of politics like the racist Critical Race Theory, after a working group used race categories to discriminate against content advisers.
"And so engaged in illegal racial discrimination in creating its standards," the report said.
So convoluted was the end result that there is a nine-page section on "How to Read the Standards," the report charged.
And it gets worse, the report said, "The standards' subordinate social studies education throughout to 'action civics,' also known as 'protest civics,' which uses the pedagogy of 'service-learning' to substitute vocational training in progressive activism for classroom civics education. They push the narrative that an 'engaged citizen' can only effect change through 'demonstration' (p. 100) and protest, and they also conflate action civics with progressive advocacy: 'Recognize historic inequalities in the United States and Alaska and evaluate proposed solutions to correct them.'"

Two priests and a journalist have been acquitted in a Spanish court of wild claims about "hate speech" over their discussion about the elements of Islam.
It was Custodio Ballester and Jesús Calvo who had been accused by Muslims of hate crimes during a talk show in 201`7.
Also accused was the director of a digital media outlet, Armando Robles.
"The public prosecutor's office had requested a four-year prison sentence for Robles along with a 10-year ban from teaching and a 3,000-euro ($3,500) fine. In the case of the priests, the prosecutor sought a three-year sentence," according to a report from Catholic News Agency.
The decision came from a Provincial Court of Malaga.
The ruling focused on whether the spoken and written words were criminal, the report said.
Franklin Graham, chief of the worldwide Samaritan's Purse Christian ministry, said, "It's unbelievable that this Catholic priest from Spain had to go to trial to defend his right to speak the truth about radical Islam. I appreciate the fact that Father Custodio Ballester wouldn't back down, even in the face of a jail term. He was also threatened with a 10-year ban from preaching. Good news—the Spanish court acquitted him last week! I'm not a Catholic, but I'll be preaching in Spain next year and I hope to have a chance to meet him!"
CNA said the critical ruling focused on whether the statements were "hate crimes" or whether they were protected by Spain's precedents for freedom of expression.
While the court itself blasted the priests' comments, fretting "no matter how despicable and perverse the message" or how "clear offensive" the statements, it found that the elements of hate crimes were not there.
"Not only is there speech protected by freedom of expression, but we could even accept that there is intolerant speech that also exists within the scope of freedom of expression, even though it may be offensive, not only to the group or person to whom it is directed but even to the person listening to it," the court said.
It was the Association of Muslims Against Islamophobia that had complained to the prosecutor's office in Barcelona about the comments from the men during a talk show.
In a statement to ACI Prensa, CNA's Spanish-language news partner, shortly before the trial, Ballester said he felt at peace: "As Jesus Christ says, they will take us to the synagogue and the courts, and there the Holy Spirit will give us wisdom that our adversaries cannot counteract," the report revealed.

Most Americans, if asked to identify the single biggest problem currently wracking their nation, probably would point to the overwhelming and ongoing crime, corruption and chaos directly resulting from years of staggering levels of illegal immigration into their country.
After all, until the inauguration of Donald Trump as president last January, the Biden administration had perversely, some even say treasonously, not only allowed but essentially invited and enabled millions of illegal aliens, including tens of thousands of convicted murderers, rapists, gang-members and sex-traffickers – not to mention large hordes of surly, tight-lipped, military-age Chinese men – to freely cross the U.S.-Mexico border to spread their criminality and treachery throughout America. And don't forget the legions of cartel-linked drug-smugglers responsible for this nation's current epidemic of fentanyl poisoning, the No. 1 cause of death of Americans 18-45.
Fortunately, President Trump has taken mighty strides to stop the madness, virtually sealing the southern border and deporting many illegal-alien criminals. Meanwhile, his Department of Homeland Security is working to track down the "nearly 448,000 unaccompanied alien children who entered the United States illegally over the last four years," many of them victims of sex trafficking and other abuses, as Homeland Security Inspector General Joseph Cuffari recently testified before Congress.
So, illegal immigration – or to put it more candidly, the intentional, full-scale foreign invasion of America engineered and enabled by today's radicalized Democratic Party – remains a massive and ongoing problem for all decent, law-abiding Americans.
But then there is the other, largely invisible half of America's immigration problem, about which most Americans know virtually nothing.
And that is the focus of the latest Whistleblower Special Report just released by WorldNetDaily, and titled "OUTSOURCED AMERICA: How the India Lobby, corrupt immigration programs and rampant offshoring are decimating the U.S. workforce." The editors consider this special expanded Whistleblower edition so crucial that the digital edition of "OUTSOURCED AMERICA" is being made available FREE to everyone requesting it.
"OUTSOURCED AMERICA" does not focus merely on the few outrages that occasionally manage to make headlines, such as Microsoft's recent expulsion of THOUSANDS of American workers in favor of cheaper foreign techies. Rather, Whistleblower exposes in stunning detail, a result of months of original and painstaking investigative reporting, exactly how and why MILLIONS of qualified, educated and experienced American workers have been facing a silent but devastating crisis: being intentionally excluded from their own country's workforce.
Through a detailed analysis of public records, government data, insider case studies, firsthand testimonies and more, this exclusive and in-depth report presents indisputable evidence that America's workforce, enforcement systems and job protections have been systematically and intentionally undermined and transformed.
As this special report explains at its outset: "Whistleblower's investigation exposes a coordinated, systemic restructuring of the U.S. labor market, engineered through legal immigration loopholes, offshoring strategies, corporate lobbying and foreign government influence, especially on the part of India and its affiliated actors. It documents how this system is not accidental or organic, but deliberately built, maintained and expanded to benefit foreign interests while massively displacing U.S. workers, hollowing out domestic opportunity and compromising America's national security."
The predictable result of this betrayal? A literal epidemic of broken American workers and their families, characterized by deprivation, suffering – and sometimes worse.
The whole massive yet vexingly underreported issue is laid bare and documented in Whistleblower as never before, in the sincere hope the Trump administration will act to end this huge and ever-growing injustice – the invisible other half of America's immigration crisis.

"This is truly one of the most important Whistleblower issues we've ever published," says bestselling author and longtime Whistleblower Editor David Kupelian. "Visa abuse has grown into a genuine monster, upending and destroying American lives in numbers that are hard to contemplate.
"For the American worker who has played by the rules, worked hard, gotten educated, paid his dues and landed a good-paying STEM job (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a U.S. company, being fired so he or she can be replaced with a less-qualified but cheaper and more controllable foreign replacement is humiliating enough. But often the fired U.S. worker is also required by the company to train his or her foreign replacement, which can take months.
"Sometimes," adds Kupelian, "it's worse than humiliating, as when 41-year-old software developer Kevin Flanagan committed suicide after being fired from his job at Bank of America and told he had to train his foreign replacement. This so distressed Kevin that, after clearing out his desk, he walked out to his truck in the BofA parking lot, pointed a Remington 12-gauge shotgun to his head and pulled the trigger.
"For most U.S. workers so ignominiously kicked out of their job," concludes Kupelian, "the result is less horrific – but still devastating for their livelihood and their family's wellbeing, and profoundly destructive of the American Dream. This injustice is being repeated hundreds of thousands of times, all across America. Yet precious few people know of its extent, its cause – and its solutions. The dedicated journalists putting together this edition of Whistleblower hope to change all that."

The Nobel Committee has gone political again, snubbing President Donald Trump for its noted Peace prize, instead choosing a prominent opposition leader in Venezuela.
The winner, announced Thursday, is Maria Corina Machado.
The agenda of those in the international organization that picks its favorites to honor appeared when Barack Obama was elected, and within months was given the prize for his work to push "cooperation" among nations.
Then at Trump's first term, the organization passed over his stunning precedents in the Middle East with his Abraham Accords, which established recognized and peaceful relations between multiple Arab neighbors and Israel.
The White House response to Friday's decision was, in a statement released by spokesman Steen Cheung, "President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will. The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace."
Trump himself has listed his work toward peace, not the least of which was this week's announcement of a ceasefire in the war Hamas terrorists launched against Israel on October 7, 2023, when they invaded the Middle East democracy and slaughtered some 1,200 residents, kidnapping hundreds more.
The few remaining hostages, under the deal brokered by Trump are supposed to be released in the coming days.
Trump also has noted his work to broker peace arrangements between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Republic of Rwanda. Also he's worked to prevent violence between India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, Egypt and Ethiopia. He's also worked diligently to end the massive death and destruction raging in the ware between Russia and Ukraine.
The Nobel Committee gave Machado the award, citing "courageous defenders of freedom who rise and resist" authoritarianism.
Commenters, however, noted that Trump could be eligible for next year's award.
Machado has been an opponent of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, a position supported by the Trump administration also.
Jorgen Watne Frydnes, chief of the Nobel committee, said Machado was picked "for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."
In the significant advance to peace in the Middle East reached just this week, both sides, Israel and Hamas terrorists, agreed to the first phase of Trump's plan to pause fighting and release hostages.
Trump, over his two terms in office, has been nominated for the award more than 10 times, by Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu, Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet, a Ukrainian politician, as well as legislators from the US, Sweden, and Norway.
Fox News analyst Brit Hume had suggested before the announcement that Trump should easily win.
"This is a big day and a big deal and the president is talking about, what Monday and Tuesday, he said, that will be exciting indeed and I think, you know, discussing the Nobel Peace Prize is interesting. It's a little puzzling to me why he would want it, because the Nobel Peace Prize to evenhanded observers robbed itself of a great deal of credibility when the prize was given to Barack Obama when he had done absolutely nothing besides get elected."
"The president has been trying to bring peace, this president has tried to bring peace all over the world and a number of conflicts have stopped in no small part because of his efforts," Hume said. "If the Barack Obama standard is the standard, the president should be a shoo-in, but I wouldn't count on it."
