President Trump on Thursday confirmed he will award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The ceremony for the posthumous honor is soon to be announced.
He was a "giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and inspiration to millions and millions of people," the president said.
The president revealed the plan while remarking on the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 Islamic terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, in which nearly 3,000 innocent people died.
"We miss him greatly, yet I have no doubt that Charlie's voice and the courage he put into the hearts of countless people, especially young people, will live on," Trump said.
Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday while holding a free speech event for students at a Utah university.
He was shot in the neck and died of his injuries.
His assailant is the target of a wide-ranging hunt.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika, and two children, a three-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy.
Trump's comments:
Before we begin, let me express the horror and grief so many Americans at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk have felt. Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people. Our prayers are with his wonderful wife, Erika and his beautiful children, fantastic people they are.
We miss him greatly, yet I have no doubt that Charlie's voice and the courage he put into the hearts of countless people, especially young people, will live on. I'm pleased to announce that I will soon be awarding Charlie Kirk, posthumously, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The date of the ceremony will be announced, and I can only guarantee you one thing, that we will have a very big crowd, very, very big.

"Antifascist" and "transgender" messages were found written on bullets in a gun discovered nearby after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated on a Utah school campus.
FBI agents said they found an older .30 caliber hunting rifle in the woods near the scene of the shooting at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
And three unspent rounds were found in the rifle's magazine.
"All allegedly engraved with transgender and antifascist messages," according to a report at AOL.
Kirk was speaking at a free speech event when he was struck in the neck by a bullet. He collapsed immediately and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Robert Bohls, FBI agent, revealed the assassin jumped down from the roof of a building directly across from the rally and fled into the woods after gunning down the influencer.
Separate confirmation of the bullets "engraved with transgender and antifascist ideology" also came from RadarOnline.com.
That's significant has there have been several mass shootings inflicted by transgender ideology advocates in recent weeks and months.
The New York Post also confirmed the discovery of the rifle and the theme-engraved bullets, but the exact messaging remained undisclosed.
Online, a posting by influencer Steven Crowder sourced the details to an ATF email.
"The email included a screen shot from what appears to be an internal message describing a weapon and cartridges located by an ATF and other law enforcement near the scene of the Charlie Kirk shooting at Utah Valley State University," the posting said.
"On September 10, 2025, at approximately 12:24PM, Conservative political influencer Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at the Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. Mr. Kirk was speaking at the University as part of the American Comeback Tour. Multiple SLC I and III agents responded immediately. The suspect fired one shot from an elevated position on a rooftop in an adjacent building on the campus and surveillance video shows the suspect, jumping off and fleeing the area on foot," said the ATF.
"ATF and other law-enforcement located an older model imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt action rifle wrapped in a towel in a wooded area near the campus. The location of the firearm appears to match the suspects route of travel. The spent cartridge was still chambered in addition to three unspent rounds at the top fed magazine. All cartridges have engraved wording on them, expressing transgender and anti-fascist ideology. An emergency trace has been submitted an ATF SLC is working leads generated by the trace. The firearm and ammunition have been taken by the FBI for DNA analysis and fingerprint impressions. Upon completion of forensics, the firearm will be disassembled for additional importer information."

CANCELED!
That's the word for a just-released launch of a comic book series called "Red Hood" that saw its first issue release on Wednesday.
It's because the writer, a "transgender-identifying" individual working for DC Comics, launched into celebration on learning of the assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk that same day.
A report at Daily Wire explained it was the "Red Hood" project written by Gretchen Felker-Martin with artwork by Jeff Spokes that had just released issue 1 on Wednesday.
Then came Kirk's murder, and Felker-Martin's social media statements, since removed, who said, "Thoughts and prayers you Nazi b—-." And "Hope the bullet's okay after touching Charlie Kirk."
"'The job market is grim, but there's a silver lining: Gavin Newsom needs a new co-host for his podcast,' Felker-Martin wrote in a third post, referencing a time Kirk and Newsom filmed a podcast episode together," according to the Daily Wire.
The next two planned installments of "Red Hood" now have been dropped, and DC Comics is offering retailers reimbursement for any unsold copies of the first, the report said.
DC said it affirms, "the highest value on our creators and community and affirm the right to peaceful, individual expression of personal viewpoints. Posts or public comments that can be viewed as promoting hostility or violence are inconsistent with DC's standards of conduct."
Felker-Martin's reputation for advocating violence already had been established.
"Referring to anti-trans activist J.K. Rowling, Felker-Martin previously wrote on Bluesky, 'I hope someone splits her skull.'" And in 2022, Felker-Martin released a story about burning Rowling alive.

The internet was flooded with prayers for conservative activist Charlie Kirk on word hitting the headlines he was shot in the neck at a Utah speaking event Wednesday.
Hundreds of pleas for God's mercy and healing consumed X postings. President Donald Trump later eulogized Kirk, confirming his death at age 31.
"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie," Trump said.
But some didn't join in the prayers.
Some demonized him, even as he lay hospitalized, fighting for his life.
It was MSNBC that took that position.
"MSNBC is ALREADY back to demonizing Charlie Kirk, just MINUTES after he was shot in Utah. Katy Tur called him 'a divisive figure, polarizing, lightning rod. What ever term you want to use.' THE LEFT IS FCKING DISGUSTING!!!!"
Actually, Tur read a statement from FBI chief Kash Patel in support of Kirk, then reverted to demonizing him.
Other memes that could be described accurately as demonic appeared. One showed a desk full of talking heads laughing uproariously.
Under the headline, "CHARLIE KIRK DEAD."
Anairuda posted a GIF of young ladies laughing and celebrating, under the statement, "They saying Charlie Kirk got shot…"
This, like one about Tur's comments, were removed from X almost immediately.
Another showed a man enthusiastically whipping his hand against his hip, with the statement, "me at the hospital watching Charlie Kirk's datascope flatline."
Someone posted an image of Kamala Harris chortling over, "I love good news," with the line, "pro-gun racist misogynist Charlie kirk dead by gun shot."
Harris, herself, actually said she was "deeply disturbed" by the shooting, sending her prayers to Kirk and his family.
"Andrea Junker" wrote, "Let's make one thing clear from the start: Charlie Kirk was the victim of a shooting in a country where he, along with other right-wing extremist influencers, have been inciting violence for years. — Kirk is neither a martyr nor a hero, he is a cause."
The antics of the commenters, drew a quick conclusion, too.
"We can never look at the far-left the same again after what they did to Charlie Kirk … These people want to m*rder us."

While the Daily Mail boldly said, "NASA has announced the discovery of microbial life on the Martian surface," the slightly more restrained Ars Technica confirmed the federal agency's analysis and peer reviewing confirmed the results "are consistent with a biosignature."
The Mail report said, "The new administrator for the space agency, Sean Duffy, said a sample collected by the Perseverance rover has been declared the 'clearest sign of life' on the Red Planet."
And Nick Fox, another NASA administrator, said, "This is the kind of signature that we would see that was made by something biological."
Multiple reports described how NASA has been looking at a feature in rocks on Mars, called "poppy seeds" or "leopard spots" that suggest the presence, a long time ago, of microbial life.
Ars Technica said results are not "definitive proof that there was water-based life on Mars billions of years ago, but the results are consistent with a biosignature. It's just that other non-biological processes would also be consistent with the data, so definitive proof might require analysis of the Martian samples back on Earth."
Joel Hurowitz, an astrobiologist at Stony Brook University in New York, told Ars, "We have improved our understanding of the geological context of the discovery since [last year], and in the paper, we explore abiotic and biological pathways to the formation of the features that we observe.
"My hope is that this discovery motivates a whole bunch of new research in laboratory and analog field settings on Earth to try to understand what conditions might give rise to the textures and mineral assemblages we've observed. This type of follow on work is exactly what is needed to explore the various biological and abiotic pathways to the formation of the features that we are calling potential biosignatures."
The NASA's research tool, Perseverance, landed in 2021 in Jezero Crater, where rocks already resemble a river delta suggesting the presence of liquid in the distant past.
It is equipped with multiple cameras and tools to include ground-penetrating radar and spectral analysis.
The latest results suggest iron phosphate in some green specks actually is vivianite, which "seem to have formed under low-temperature conditions and after the deposition of sediment."
"And the minerals of interest aren't evenly distributed throughout the mudstone; they are concentrated in specific zones. All of this taken together suggests that these might be biosignatures, per the authors," the report said.
The Daily Mail's brash comments noted, "Perseverance collected the life-proving rocks on July 21, 2024 while exploring the northern edge of Neretva Vallis, the ancient river valley formed roughly 3.7 billion years ago."

The face of Iryna Zarutska, the Ukrainian refugee gruesomely slain on a Charlotte train last month by career criminal Decarlos Brown, may soon be appearing on large murals across America.
Tech giants including Elon Musk and Eoghan McCabe, CEO and founder of the customer communications platform Intercom, are pledging major donations to get the artwork started.
"I am offering $500k in $10k grants to paint murals of the face of Iryna Zarutska in prominent U.S. city locations," McCabe posted on X.
"Please contact katie@eoghan.com for more details. Please also share this message. If you would like to contribute to this fund, please contact Katie also."
Musk responded to McCabe's announcement by saying he would contribute $1 million.
GiveSendGo also launched its own campaign to promote the artwork to honor the 23-year-old murder victim.
"Iryna Zarutska did not ask to be a martyr," its campaign states. "But you can help make sure there is at least some meaning in her brutal death.
"We will install as many posters and murals across this great nation as funds afford so that the important conversations her slaying provokes may perpetuate and drive much needed change. Eoghan McCabe is donating $500k and looking for other sponsors.
"Every dollar beyond that donated here will help. Eoghan's team will ensure all installations are in high visibility locations, are well executed, and are completed legally."
Already more than $54,000 has been raised in that campaign, with a goal of $100,000.
One artificial intelligence expert named Blake has already proffered his own design for a Zarutska mural, saying: "Not a painter, but I do stuff with gen AI. Would be happy to provide artwork to be painted. For free use."
Ian Miles Cheong noted of McCabe's mural project: "I support this effort. While you're at it, can you commission a bronze statue of Iryna sitting on that bench to be placed in front of the Charlotte court as a reminder of their failings and to basically say 'never again.'"
Meanwhile, bestselling author and DEI consultant Matt Walsh says the haunting image of Zarutska's final, fearful moments when her throat was slashed will have a long-lasting impact on Americans.
"This image will define the new civil rights movement," Walsh said.
"We have a right to use public accommodations without being butchered in our seats. We have a right to safe communities where violent animals are rounded up and caged. This is not just a local crime. It's a civil rights issue."
President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for a "quick" trial for Brown as well as the death penalty for the "ANIMAL."
"The ANIMAL who so violently killed the beautiful young lady from Ukraine, who came to America searching for peace and safety, should be given a 'Quick' (there is no doubt!) Trial, and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY," Trump said on Truth Social.
"There can be no other option!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP."

UPDATE: The sheriff's office has now reported that two students were injured in the shooting, plus the shooter, who also was hospitalized. All three, all minors, are considered in critical condition. No names were released immediately.
There's been another school shooting, this time at Evergreen High School in Colorado.
Initial reports say that at least three people, probably students, are in critical condition after being hospitalized.
A report from KDVR television said authorities in Jefferson County, which encompasses the foothills community of Evergreen about 25 miles west of downtown Denver, said there was an "active assailant" at the school.
A spokesperson for CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood told FOX31 that three people are in the hospital in critical condition related to the incident.
Authorities revealed a 911 call came in about 12:40 p.m. Mountain Time, and a warning was issued that people who have kids at the school should not try to go there, as it still was "an active scene."
The building was being evacuated room by room.
A reunification site was set up at Bergen Meadow Elementary, nearby.

It's been several years since medical regulators inside the government and pharmaceutical companies unleashed the often-injurious mRNA treatments on Americans already suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
And just now some of the facts about that orchestration are emerging, including that some of the "experts" are naïve about some of the basic facts involving mRNA.
Including one Stanford University "infectious disease specialist" who was left stunned into silence by questions from U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., about the basics of the treatments.
It happened during a Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations hearing, when Jake Scott, a physician and co-leader of the so-called "Vaccine Integrity Project" claimed vaccines are among the most transparent and safest medical interventions every.
Johnson turned immediately to the basics, asking, "How much do you know about the mRNA technology?"
"A fair amount," Scott said.
Johnson then explained to Scott what is "true" messenger RNA, which degrades rapidly, and synthetic, which "is engineered to resist breakdown and persist for unknown lengths of time," according to Jim Hoft's report at the Gateway Pundit.
Johnson: "Is the mRNA that's encapsulating the lipid nanoparticle, is that true mRNA?"
Scott: "Is it true mRNA?"
Johnson: "I mean, true mRNA — your mRNA — degrades very rapidly in the body. Correct?"
Scott: "Correct."
Johnson: "So the mRNA in the injection, is it true mRNA? Does it degrade rapidly in the body?"
There was silence, then Johnson said, "Do you not know?"
Scott: "I do know. Yes, it does, but it sounds…"
Johnson: "No, it does not. It's modified mRNA, and it's designed not to degrade. There are studies that show it sticks around in the body. We don't know how long. The lipid nanoparticle — do you realize that it was designed to permeate difficult barriers, like the blood-brain barrier, like the center barrier? Did you know that?"
Explained the Gateway Pundit, "At that moment, the Senate chamber saw what many Americans have come to realize: so-called 'experts' who insisted they were following 'the science' are shockingly uninformed about the very shots they demanded the public take."
Anthony Fauci, formerly Joe Biden's COVID adviser, once, in fact, insisted that people arguing with his pro-shot agenda were arguing with the "science."
Scott also admitted that risks of blood clots and myocarditis in young men exist from the shots.
Johnson wasn't finished, asking Scott, "Did you believe when Fauci told us that the mRNA shot would stay in the arm? Did you believe that? … It's a simple yes or no. Do you believe the COVID injection stayed in everybody's arm? Do you believe that's what happened?"
Scott; "Primarily."
Johnson unloaded: "You think so, huh? Were you aware of the Japanese FOIA study that was conducted, a biodistribution study where, in rats, it biodistributed all over the body, accumulated in the adrenal glands, in the ovaries? … It distributes all over the body, and when it attaches to a cell, it unloads its mRNA into the cell and turns the cell into a manufacturing cell of a protein that is toxic to it. Do you realize that? Are you aware of that? Just yes or no. Do you know that or not? Because I talk to a lot of doctors who don't have a clue."
Silence.
The Daily Caller News Foundation also reported that Scott confessed he was wrong to push for masking for two-year-olds during the pandemic.
And the Gateway Pundit pointed out how Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., was humiliated by witness Aaron Siri, a vaccine lawsuit expert, when Blumenthal tried to belittle the witness.
Blumenthal pointed out to Siri that he was not a medical doctor.
Siri responded with what the Gateway Pundit called "a nuclear truth bomb."
He revealed, the report said, "A team of respected researchers at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, led by Dr. Marcus Zervos, Division Head of Infectious Disease, undertook a massive vaccinated vs. unvaccinated birth cohort study involving 18,468 children enrolled between 2000 and 2016."
That showed vaccinated children were 3.03 times more likely to develop allergic diseases, 4.29 times more likely to develop asthma, 5.53 times more likely to suffer neurodevelopmental disorders — including speech disorders and developmental delays and 5.96 times more likely to develop autoimmune diseases.
And Siri responded to Blumenthal's "cheap stunt" about his personal qualifications.
Siri noted that for legal cases he deposes experts routinely, "including the world's leading ones with regards to the vaccines. I have to make my claims based on actual evidence. When I go to court with regards to vaccines, I don't get to rely on titles."

Fact: The one and only solution to Iran's ever-worsening crisis lies in the complete overthrow of the religious dictatorship. The international community is gradually reaching consensus on this point, and the Iranian people are more prepared than ever, their society now in a basically explosive state.
Neither war nor appeasement, but only regime change by the people of Iran and their organized Resistance, can truly guarantee peace in the region. To achieve this, however, the right of thousands of resistance units across Iran to confront the IRGC – that's the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that protects the theocratic regime – must be widely recognized. The need and timing are urgent. Every additional day granted to this regime only means more war and bloodshed. The regime's calls for negotiation are nothing more than desperate attempts to buy time. And its time is running out – as all the evidence attests.
Iran's streets are no longer under the regime's control
One of the clearest signs of the regime's decline is its loss of control over the streets. Until 2017, the Islamic Republic still had the ability to mobilize its supporters. But after successive uprisings – from December 2017 to November 2019, and later in 2022 – the streets gradually slipped from the regime's grip. Today, women and girls appear in public with voluntary attire. This is not a sign of tolerance by the regime, but proof of its inability to suppress them. Defections within the repressive forces are also widespread, leaving the regime increasingly stripped of its primary tool of control.
The cancelled concert
On Friday, Sept. 5, just one day before a major rally held by the Iranian opposition in Brussels, a large concert was scheduled to be held in Tehran. The decision to stage this event had been made by the Supreme National Security Council, the regime's highest decision-making body. Its main purpose appeared to be countering the impact of the opposition's demonstration in Brussels. The performance was assigned to a well-known singer whose father holds a prominent place in modern Iranian music.
The decision at such a high level reflected the regime's need for shows designed to present the slogans and aspirations claimed by the Supreme Leader as if they were being fulfilled. On Aug. 24, Supreme Leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei had declared: "This sacred unity of the people with the Islamic Republic – this steel shield – must not be harmed. Today, thank God, unity exists."
Except it doesn't. But by consistently accusing opponents of sowing division, Khamenei hoped the concert would project an image of national unity and silence dissent within the establishment. History shows that in the final days of their rule, all dictators tend to resort to such displays in an effort to appear nationalistic and unifying.
The concert was to be held in Tehran's iconic Azadi Square. But according to Peyman Soltani, conductor of the Tehran Nations Orchestra, "Public opposition forced the cancellation of this program," because people saw it as aligning with the ruling regime. Its cancellation revealed that in Iran's political arena there is a force capable of challenging the regime and disrupting its calculations.
Defeat in cyberspace
In the realm of the internet and social networks, despite heavy filtering, the regime has failed to prevent young Iranians from connecting with the free world. Although access has become more difficult, the government has never managed to impose absolute control over cyberspace. In other words, the Islamic Republic has been forced to retreat not only in the streets, but also in the digital world.
A shared sense of collapse
The sense of the regime's imminent downfall is no longer confined to its opponents. Even within the system, this perception is clearly visible. In the minds of the people, the regime has already collapsed – only its physical fall remains.
'Time for a free Iran has arrived'
Last Saturday, Sept. 6, former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence joined Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the Iranian Resistance, at a major Iranian rally held in Brussels to show support for the Iranian people's determination to bring about change.
In his address to tens of thousands of Iranians and human rights activists in Brussels, Pence stressed that the time for change had come, declaring: "The time for a free Iran has arrived."
"There is no weapon stronger than the will of a people determined to achieve their aspirations," he added. "That will is now embodied in the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran and the National Council of Resistance of Iran, and it will prevail."

Decarlos Brown, the man federally charged with murdering 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte commuter train Aug. 22, is now speaking about the horrific slaughter, claiming the government implanted "materials" inside his body to make him butcher the Ukraine refugee.
In a phone interview circulating online, Brown blames "The material. Put it like that. The material using my body. It's that. You know, that's not me.
"I'm talking about just for no reason. But since they did that, since they did that, now they got to investigate the material my body exposed to. Since they want to do all that, now they got to investigate."
The interviewer asks Brown: "She's from the Ukraine … and you know they got a war … so I'm just trying to understand, out of all people, why her?"
"I don't have nothing," Brown responded. "They just lashed out on them. That's what happened.
"They lashed out on her. Well I was working out … Whoever was working the material, they lashed out on her."
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for a "quick" trial for Brown as well as the death penalty for the "ANIMAL."
"The ANIMAL who so violently killed the beautiful young lady from Ukraine, who came to America searching for peace and safety, should be given a 'Quick' (there is no doubt!) Trial, and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY," Trump said on Truth Social.
