WASHINGTON – United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited the White House today, and praised President Donald Trump's leadership in the campaign to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Starmer thanked Trump, "…for changing the conversation to bring about the possibility that now we can have a peace deal."
He continued, "Now we want to work with you to make sure that peace deal is enduring, that it lasts […] and we'll work with you to make sure that absolutely happens."
Answering reporters' questions, Trump reiterated that the deal will not include allowing Ukraine to join NATO. He believes it would land the two Eastern European countries back at square one.
"I could be very nice and say, 'Oh, well, we'll work on it.' Look, it's not going to happen," Trump said. "That was one of the primary reasons it started."
The president also affirmed that the U.S. will remain a "backstop" to Ukrainian security, while saying he trusts that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not break any agreement.
"I don't believe he's going to violate his word. I don't think he'll be back [in Ukraine] when we make a deal. I think the deal is going to hold now," he said.
Trump pointed to other countries that are invested in the ceasefire as a reason the deal would last. "I know France wants to be there […] I don't think we're going to even be necessary but I don't think there'll be any problem with keeping the deal with the security."
It's clear that Great Britain is invested in a positive relationship with this administration. While visiting the Oval Office, Starmer presented Trump with an invitation from King Charles III for an "unprecedented" second state visit to the U.K.
"This is really special. This has never happened before." Starmer said, seated next to Trump.
"I think that just symbolizes the strength of the relationship between us. This is a very special letter. I think the last state visit was a tremendous success," he continued. "His majesty the king wants to make this even better than that."
For his part, Trump seemed genuinely taken aback by the historic invite and quickly accepted on behalf of himself and First Lady Melania Trump. They will stay at Windsor Castle.

WASHINGTON – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit President Trump at the White House on Friday. Trump made this announcement when speaking to the media in the Cabinet Room ahead of his first official full-Cabinet meeting of his second term.
The president seemed optimistic that a deal could be done that will benefit all nations invested in seeing an end to the fighting between Russia and Ukraine.
"The previous administration put us in a very bad position," said Trump of the Biden administration's inaction on a diplomatic solution to the war.
"Taxpayers shouldn't be footing the bill more than Europe is paying," he said. "We are going to sign an agreement that will be a very big agreement," that "will be about rare earths and other things." Trump was noncommittal on whether that deal will be signed on Friday or what else the visit by Zelensky will accomplish.
During his media availability in the Cabinet Room, Trump also praised DOGE, saying it is "one of the most important initiatives," of his administration.
The president then allowed Elon Musk to give an update on the department's work. Musk told reporters that in order to reach a goal of ridding the government of $1 trillion in wasteful spending, "We must save $4 billion a day."
The world's richest man also gave a more complete picture of the role DOGE plays in the Trump administration, saying, "DOGE is a support function for the president and for the agency and the department to find those savings. And we bring the receipts."
When the Cabinet was asked by Trump if anyone was unhappy with Musk, they all gave the Tesla founder a round of applause as a show of support. The president himself showed support for DOGE's email campaign, claiming that the goal is to root out any workers who should not be receiving a salary from the government.
Musk further explained, "The emails were mistakenly thought of as a performance review. They're not. They're a pulse check review […] What we are trying to get to the bottom of is we think there are a number of people on the government payroll who are dead."
President Trump touched on many other topics including the dramatically reduced number of illegal border crossings, the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan and the evolving hostage-release situation between Israel and Hamas from the Cabinet Room.

Listening to establishment media, one might think President Trump's new administration has done a poor job of keeping air travelers safe in America.
Within the last month, media outlets have reported extensively on four aviation crashes and mishaps, most prominently the midair collision in Washington, D.C., that killed 67 on Jan. 29.
Last week, a plane landing in Toronto ignited and flipped over on landing. The 80 people onboard survived the crash.
But despite these incidents, the numbers show that air travel continues to be one of the safest modes of transportation.
"The data doesn't indicate a rise in serious accidents," aviation expert and professor Chad Kendall told 9news.com. "When we have two high profile accidents like this back-to-back, certainly it could show that it is, but statistically it is not."
Kendall continued: "When we have accidents like this, we go through a process and we determine what happened and then we make changes. Whether that's changes to training, technology, procedures, or communication. There's nothing off the table when it comes to safety and making travel safer."
Recent statistics from the National Transportation Safety Board, or NTSB, show there may have been a record low number of airplane accidents nationwide in January. If the currently reported numbers stay the same, there were 63 fatal or non-fatal crashes last month, compared to 80 in January 2024 and 89 in 2023.
That's the lowest number of crashes in a single month since 1982, according to data on the NTSB website. Overall, their data shows a trend of crashes declining over the years.
Last week, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy reiterated the overall safety of aviation, telling CBS News: "If you get in a plane, if you look at how many people fly, how many flights we have, of course it's a safe space."
Duffy remarked that there isn't a pattern behind the recent incidents, calling them each "very unique."

Amid the turmoil going on in Canada's government now, with the coming departure of Justice Trudeau from its leadership ranks, analysts have suggested that globetrotting banker Mark Carney has a path to replacing him.
But a candidate who right now is considered an also-ran has made a stunning demand that Canada work with nuclear-equipped allies to create a "a closer security relationship that guarantees our security in a time when United States can be a threat."
The comments are from Chrystia Freeland, who said, "The U.S. is turning predator, and so what Canada needs to do is work closely with our democratic allies, our military allies. I would start with our Nordic partners, specifically Denmark who is also being threatened, and our NATO European allies. I would be sure that France and Britian were there who possess NUCLEAR WEAPONS and I will be working urgently with these partners to build a closer security relationship that guarantees our security in a time when United States can be a threat."
Polling shows Carney is the favorite to take over Liberal party leadership, with Freeland trailing.
President Donald Trump repeatedly has suggested that Canada should be America's 51st state, while Trudeau has publicly resisted, saying Trump cannot take his country.

Testimony delivered to Congress confirms the U.S. Department of Justice under Joe Biden deliberately skewed the application of federal law to target pro-life activists.
The confirmation comes from Peter Breen, the head of litigation for the Thomas More Society law firm that represented some of those pro-life Americans.
The Biden administration misused the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act to prosecute, convict, and jail those people.
His testimony came before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight regarding the Biden administration's attacks specifically on 23 pro-life protesters.
President Donald Trump pardoned them when he took office.
Breen charged, "The Biden DOJ engaged in a systematic campaign to abuse the power of the federal government against pro-life advocates, while that same DOJ ignored hundreds of acts of vandalism and violence against pro-life churches, pregnancy help centers, and other advocates."
The topic of the hearing was, "Entering the Golden Age: Ending the Weaponization of the Justice Department," and it also featured statements from Chris Swecker, former FBI assistant director of the Criminal Investigations Unit, Jonathan Fahey, a legal partner at Holtzman Vogel, and Brendan Ballou, a federal prosecutor, according to a report from Fox News.
"They should not have been prosecuted," President Trump had confirmed. "Many of them are elderly people. They should not have been prosecuted. This is a great honor to sign this."
Breen added, "On behalf of our clients and the pro-life movement as a whole, we are thankful to President Trump for his recent pardons and to the members of this House who supported that effort. Those pardons sent a powerful message to the country, and especially to the millions of Americans in the pro-life movement, that the federal government should not be weaponized against Americans because of their sincere beliefs in the sanctity of human life."
Biden's campaign against the pro-lifers included claims that they "used force and physical obstruction to execute a clinic blockade."
Pro-life forces now are urging Congress to repeal the FACE Act, since it infringes on the First Amendment and restricts the freedom to protest.
"Of course, we urge Congress to repeal the FACE Act, which is selectively and illegally enforced by pro-abortion presidential administrations. But in the immediate term, Congress has several other concrete steps it can take, working with the new administration to define the proper scope of the laws and to defend the rights of pro-life Americans," Breen explained.

President Donald Trump and his executive branch Department of Government Efficiency, run by billionaire Elon Musk, are working to save American taxpayers perhaps up to a trillion dollars.
Already, estimates are that $65 billion has been cut from federal spending.
Now states are getting in the act.
Although they don't deal with trillions of dollars, savings of millions, hundreds of millions, even billions, will impact taxpayers significantly.
Just the News documents how Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced his state's version, the State Department of Governmental Efficiency Task Force.
"Florida has set the standard for fiscally conservative governance, and our new Florida DOGE task force will do even more to serve the people of Florida," DeSantis explained. "It will eliminate redundant boards and commissions, review state university and college operations and spending, utilize artificial intelligence to further examine state agencies to uncover hidden waste, and even audit the spending habits of local entities to shine the light on waste and bloat."
It's actually not an entirely new concept in the state, as it has "eliminated dozens of unnecessary boards and lifted needless regulations," already saved billions for residents, and paid down 41% of state debt while boosting rainy day funding by more than $9 billlion – all since DeSantis took office in 2019.
The state said the new task force will use a variety of methods to target and eliminate bureaucratic bloat, including artificial intelligence.
Its goals include eliminating another 70 boards and commissions, taking a deep dive into "all facets of college and university operations and spending," and look at local government spending.
"Florida will utilize AI to supplement ongoing efforts to review operations at our state agencies and identify more ways to cut unnecessary spending and eliminate bureaucracy," the report said.

Nicole Shanahan, RFK Jr.'s running mate before he ended his own presidential bid in 2024 and endorsed now-President Donald Trump, has taken social media by storm, posting online that, "Today, I am a Jew for Jesus."
The prominent tech billionaire released her testimony of becoming of Christian and being baptized.
Sometimes life has this way of turning down the volume on all the chaos, and in that stillness, we get a clear glimpse of what truly matters. One of these moments occurred in my life last month.
It was a quiet January night, just a few days before the presidential inauguration. I was lying in bed in the middle of the night with my six-year-old, Echo, gently calming her after a night terror had awakened her. As she finally drifted back to sleep, I felt a heaviness settle over me, thick and suffocating, like the air before a storm. It pressed against my chest, not like a weight, but like a presence—something unseen yet undeniable. At that moment, I could only think to bow my head, close my eyes, and offer a silent prayer to God.
The Valley of the Shadow of Death
In September 2024, our family suffered a heart-wrenching loss—one I'm not prepared to speak about in detail yet, but I will when the time is right. Not long after the tragedy, I met an incredible woman named Diane, a bishop, who had prayed with me after my loss and was the first to ask me if I wanted to be saved. (I'm still getting the hang of the lingo. Some say pastor, preacher, or minister, depending on the church—but I know Diane as a deeply faithful soul who helped guide me closer to Jesus. For that, I am forever grateful.)
I first crossed paths with Diane through my masseuse, Ade—pronounced "Ah-day"—a Mayan-Mexican immigrant I got to know after my divorce from Echo's dad. Ade is a kind, quiet Christian who would whisper prayers for me while he worked without ever letting on. It wasn't until months later that he told me about it. To this day, he remembers the first time we met and how worried he was about me. Coming out of my previous marriage, I was thin, fragile, totally worn down, and in anguish.
One day, it finally hit me that his prayers were doing more to heal me than the deep tissue massage ever could. As we were wrapping a session, I asked, "Hey Ade, do you know anyone who can help keep 'bad energy' away from people? Basically an exorcism." Ade looked at me, paused, and simply said, "Yes—when you are ready."
In the weeks following our family's loss, I saw Ade again, and as he had so many times before, he prayed for me. But this time was different. I bowed my head, let the tears fall, and begged God's help. It was then that Ade connected me with Diane.
The Water and the Blood
That next morning in January, I called Diane, who had texted me earlier, "I want to talk with you about getting baptized." This felt like the final confirmation of something I already knew: It was time. I called her then, and we decided that on Sunday (the day before President Trump's inauguration), she and her husband, Peter, would baptize me in my backyard.
As she pulled into my driveway, I was struck by her presence. Like me, she is a woman of mixed race from Oakland. With piercing blue eyes and curly black hair, she is a grandmother in her 70s with a quiet strength about her. I soon learned she was no ordinary chaplain but, in fact, the lead chaplain at Santa Rita Jail, the fifth-largest jail in the country.
During that meeting, Diane opened her worn and well-loved Bible—filled with highlights, underlines, and Post-it tabs. A book that had been studied and prayed over thousands of times. She moved through it with laser precision, guiding me to verse after verse as I struggled to read through my blurry, tear-filled eyes. The pain of life sometimes can consume your entire reality, and the injustice, the loss, and the extreme nature of it all can feel genuinely unbearable. The weight of the world, perpetuated by greed, lies, and indifference, can often feel hopeless. Diane looked at me and said with absolute certainty that Jesus could save me—that His blood is able to wash away sins and defeat the darkness that haunts the innocent.
I think it took the pain of that moment, the desperate need for hope, and the unwavering intensity in Diane's eyes to finally break through the last, most stubborn skeptic in me. When Diane asked if I wanted to be baptized, I didn't hesitate—I said yes.

In an apparent effort to help the homeless population in Oregon, Democratic leaders of the state legislature have introduced a bill that would reduce the legal severity of theft in the Beaver State – but only if the thief shoplifts a "basic need item," with examples of things "unhoused" people tend to use.
House Bill 2640 in effect legalizes the stealing of things like food, water, and health care supplies, along with items like tarps and tents.
Though the bill has no House member's named attached to it, the introductory language in the legislation notes that it was filed on behalf of the Oregon Criminal Defense Association.
The theft of an item worth less than $100, currently a Class C misdemeanor, would become a Class A "violation," but, again, only if the stolen property is "a basic need item."
Text of HB 2640 explains:
"As used in this section, 'basic need item' means food, water, clothing, health care or medical supplies, shelter including but not limited to tarps and tents, reproductive care items including but not limited to condoms and menstrual products, child care items including but not limited to diapers and formula or sanitation items including but not limited to soap, disinfectant and toilet tissues."
The group Oregon Citizens Lobby opposes the bill, stating, "A Class A violation in Oregon is the equivalent to a traffic violation. This enables criminals to commit crimes without serious consequences, putting Oregonians at a greater risk. It appears the lawyers introducing this bill think these crimes aren't worth their time, but don't stop to realize that stopping lessor crimes with consequences has a significant impact on their case load of major crimes."
In addition to making theft less of an offense, HB 2640 changes the definition of the crime of aggravated harassment to legalize spitting on a law enforcement officer, as long as there is no risk of spreading a communicable disease.
The change in statute describes one who "intentionally propels saliva at the public safety officer, and the saliva comes into physical contact with the public safety officer and creates a risk of spreading communicable disease to the officer, while the [public safety] officer is acting in the course of official duty or as a result of the [public safety] officer's official duties." The italics indicate the language proposed to be added to state law.
The Oregon Firearms Federation decried the bill, noting that it "essentially legalizes trespassing, driving while suspended, refusing to show up in court after arrest, refusing to register as a sex offender, spitting on police, and theft of food, tents, clothing, condoms and other things."
A public committee hearing on the bill is scheduled for Feb. 26.

Leftist personality Michael Moore has claimed that among the criminal illegal aliens being deported by President Donald Trump could be the person who would have found the cure for cancer.
Or discovered how to stop an asteroid that is forecast to hit Earth in 2032.
And the White House has a recommendation: He can go ahead and visit all the quantum computing and particle physics labs "that MS-13, TDA, and the cartels are now going to have to set up back home in El Salvador, Venezuela, and Mexico."
Of course the White House statement was dripping with sarcasm and it ridiculed Moore for complaining about the administration's focus on "putting our own citizens first by mass deporting illegal migrant rapists, murderers, and other criminals."
The White House, in a statement from Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai, then noted Moore is now in contention for "the dumbest statement of the year."
Specifically, the White House reported, some of those deported of late include:
And more.
A report at Breitbart documented Moore's fretting concerned: "Who's really being removed by ICE tonight? The child who would've discovered the cure for cancer in 2046? The 9th grade nerd who would've stopped that Astroid [sic] that's gonna hit us in 2032?"
Moore mostly is known for his anti-Trump statements as well as his work on the films "Fahrenheit 9/11," and "Bowling for Columbine."
In support of his argument, Moore pointed out Steve Jobs was the child of a "nothing-migrant."
"Those of us who count ourselves as part of the 'non-hater' demographic of Americans cannot even begin to add up or ascertain the innumerable ways our lives have been made better by our beloved immigrant neighbors," he said.

There's been resistance to President Donald Trump's border security agenda since he took office and ordered that criminal illegal aliens be rounded up and deported.
Some of it has been international, which mostly has disappeared as Trump's plans have moved forward. Some of it has been political, from Democrats who facilitated Joe Biden's open borders scheme for years. Some of it has been, frankly, dangerous, as there were leakers who distributed advance information about raids to the public.
Those people, insiders with details about coming raids, have been identified, according to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
And they are getting fired.
"We have found some leakers. We are continuing to get more. They will be fired. There will be consequences," Noem said. "When they leak information to the press in order to blow an operation, they are putting law enforcement lives in jeopardy. They are risking their lives and putting their families in the position where they have to live without those individuals any further."
But the resistance, or "insurrection" against legitimate law enforcement activities, continues to find new methods to undermine American security.
A report from Fox News now explains that the newest method is doxxing.
"Flyers showing the names, pictures, and phone numbers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have surfaced in a Southern California neighborhood," the report said. "Multiple federal law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin that anti-ICE activists, who have been interfering with ICE operations in the Los Angeles area in recent days, have now started putting up posters featuring the personal information of ICE and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officers working in the Los Angeles and Southern California area."
The report said the posters, in Spanish, suggest being "CAREFUL WITH THESE FACES."
And the posters charge, "These armed agents work in Southern California. ICE and HSI racially terrorize and criminalize entire communities with their policies. They kidnap people from their homes and from the streets, separating families and fracturing communities. Many people have died while locked up in jails, prisons, and detention centers."
But a DHS official told Fox, "These pathetic activists are putting targets on the backs of our law enforcement as they shield MS-13, Tren De Aragua and other vicious gangs that traffic women and children, kidnap for ransom and poison Americans with lethal drugs. These individuals will be held accountable for obstructing the law and justice. This shouldn't be controversial."
While freedom of speech and assembly are constitutionally protected, "any individual who impedes law enforcement operations, potentially threatening the safety of law enforcement agents and subjects of their investigations, is subject to investigation and potential prosecution by the Department of Justice," the DHS statement said.
Earlier, a Tampa Free Press reported confirmed that those insiders who earlier leaked information about coming raids had been identified.
Noem said those leaking such information were putting at risk the likes of federal agents.
"When they are breaking the law, we are prosecuting and holding them accountable to it. We're not here to play games. This is about America," Noem said.
That scandal erupted Feb. 7 when the Los Angeles Times printed a report based on a leaked internal memo detailing plans for an ICE raid in the area.
The plan, which targeted those convicted of crimes including rape and murder, sparked protests in the "sanctuary" enclave of Los Angeles.
While Noem confirmed some leakers were identified, their numbers and soon-to-be former employers were not identified.
Noem had said polygraph tests and examination of employee emails were being used to identify leakers.
"It's amazing how these bureaucrats who have an agenda to stop the work that we're doing to bring safety to America will sell each other down the river just to protect themselves," she said.
