Syrian gas attack kills more than 40 people, reports say

Another horrifying attack has happened in Syria.

According to reports, 40 people were killed from a poison gas attack.

The Attack

In all, 40 people were killed and more than 500 were injured in the town of Douma.

Injuries ranged from breathing difficulties, burning eyes, and foaming at the mouth.

This chemical attack would appear to mean the truce that had been negotiated has collapsed.

There may actually be more fatalities, but first responders have been impeded by the strong odors of the chemicals.

A spokesman for the Syrian Civil Defense stated, “Until this minute, no one has been able to find out the kind of agent that was used.”

Denials and Aid

Reuters reported the Syrian government, which is backed by Russia, has denied any connection to the attack.

They have claimed information pointing to Syria using the weapon are nothing more than a “fabrication” of the Army of Islam.

The government released the following statement:

“The army, which is advancing rapidly and with determination, does not need to use any kind of chemical agents.”

President Trump was very critical of the attack as well as offering support.

In one of his tweets this morning, he also called for the government to open the area up immediately so humanitarian aid can be sent.
