A rather tense moment occurred outside the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. this week.
A man wearing a bulletproof vest and possessing a knife was apprehended by authorities outside the gates of the Embassy of Israel.
Attacker Still Unidentified
The man, who has yet to be identified by authorities, told the Secret Service agents apprehending him that he had a knife and his car was nearby.
When authorities checked the car, it was still running and there was a dog inside. They also found a bullet, but no other weapons.
Authorities stated the man did give up his knife willingly. They also stated he will probably have to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
The actual motive behind the failed attack is not yet known, but it seems pretty obvious. The timing of this, plus several high-profile Democrats being refused entry into Israel make it fairly clear this was this man’s protest to Netanyahu’s decision.
After Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) announced their planned trip to Israel, the Prime Minister took exception. Based on their support of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, Netanyahu refused the two congresswomen entry.
After receiving the visitation plan from the congresswomen, Netanyahu believed the two would be running an anti-Israel campaign on his soil, trying to negate the legitimacy of Israel.
While the banning of the two women was harshly criticized by Democrats, President Trump clearly supported the move.
Democrats are now apparently planning some type of retaliatory strike against Israeli diplomats to protest the move by Netanyahu.
Rep. Tlaib proved Netanyahu made the proper decision after the Interior Minister of Israel offered to let her visit on humanitarian grounds so she could visit her aging grandmother.
After the gesture, Tlaib went on a vicious rant against Israel and refused the invitation, making it clear the planned visit was nothing but a political stunt right from the very beginning.
