Star of ‘Counting On,’ Mary Duggar, dead at 78

Fans of the TLC show Counting On got some very devastating news over the weekend.

Mary Duggar, paternal grandmother of the Duggar clan, passed away this weekend at the age of 78.

Cause of Death Released

While many of these celebrity deaths are quite a mystery, doctors were quick to announce the cause in this case.

Duggar died of an accidental drowning at her Arkansas home. According to reports, she slipped by the pool and fell in.

A call was placed to emergency services and the paramedics arrived around 4:37 p.m. When the paramedics arrived, they found Duggar unconscious.

On Sunday, the Duggar family announced the news of her death on their official fan page on Facebook.

Family Pillar

Fans of the show already know how much “Grandma” was loved and respected. She was also known for her devout faith.

The family stated in their announcement that “Mary found great joy in sharing her love for Jesus and her own story of how at age 15 she asked Christ to forgive her for her sin. It was at that time she committed the rest of her life to live for Him, a commitment she kept with devotion.”

They went on: “She loved to share with others how they too could be forgiven of their sins, live a fulfilling life as a Christian, and one day spend eternity in heaven.”

Mary may be gone, but her legacy is assured of living on for quite some time.

She is survived by her son Jim Bob, as well as 34 grand- and great-grandchildren.

Rest in peace, Grandma Duggar. Your family and friends will miss you.
