Judge Jeanine Pirro is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at a fundraiser for St. Barnabas retirement community in Pennsylvania. But not everyone is happy about it.
Two major advertisers are now backing out from sponsoring of the event due to Pirro’s recent comments about Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
Both UPMC and Dollar Bank no longer wish to be associated with the event.
Still Paying the Price
The fallout over Judge Jeanine’s comments regarding Rep. Omar’s choice to wear a hijab continues.
Pirro has already reportedly been suspended by Fox News for two weeks.
There have also been cries from her current TV sponsors, who say they are pulling their ad spots from Fox News.
Now, sponsors’ choice to pull out of this event has created a whole new problem for Pirro that could cripple her career.
St. Barnabas Standing Tall
To this point, though, St. Barnabas has stood behind its decision to have Pirro as its speaker, and there is little evidence the organization plans on cutting its ties with Pirro.
When a spokesman for the organization was reached by a local news outlet, he said very little about the controversy.
Jim Lauteri, the spokesman for St. Barnabas, stated: “We don’t put out statements about our sponsors.”
When asked directly about the comments made by Pirro, he said plainly: “She’s entitled to her opinion.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
