A George Soros-backed organization that has gone political, targeting Republicans with its activities, has been doing so while under tax-exempt nonprofit status from the Internal Revenue Service, according to a report.
It’s only a few years ago that the IRS itself took on the specific agenda of trying to destroy conservative and Christian organizations just as Barack Obama was seeking re-election, and denied or delayed their tax-exempt status.
It appeared that those groups largely were targeted by the IRS because of their criticism of Obama’s extreme left actions, and the IRS ended up paying out millions in damages as a result of the lawsuits that followed.
Now, a report from Breitbart News explains that the IRS, with its “well-documented history of targeting conservatives,” gave the “Good Information Foundation,” which reportedly is being backed by Soros, its tax-exempt status.
Its political agenda has become evident through the accusations of a lawyer and commentator, Preston Moore, who recently posted a video charging the organization with trying to get him to make a factually suspect video attacking President Donald Trump and “Trump Republicans.”
Moore said he was offered $400 by the “Good Information Foundation” and since he was no Trump supporter, considered the proposal.
Breitbart explained, then, “Moore emphasized he is not a Trump supporter and had initially considered accepting until the organization began dodging questions about the factual accuracy of its campaign. In Moore’s video, he includes email screenshots allegedly from the Good Information Foundation with ‘important notes.'”
Those demanded, “Say ‘criminal conspiracy,’ not ‘attempted coup,’ ‘treason,’ or ‘insurrection.’ Say ‘Trump Republicans,’ not ‘Trump and his allies.’ Say ‘January 6th investigation’ not ‘hearing’ or ‘trial’ Call this an ‘attack on our country or an attack on ‘America’ or on ‘Americans’ and a ‘criminal conspiracy,’ ‘committed a crime.’ Talk about ‘MAGA Republicans’ etc. Make clear this is ongoing and unresolved, not past and done. Show voter agency, turn the anger into defiance…”
Moore explained in an interview with Breitbart News that it was clear the foundation “wanted me to use the most graphic images possible. They wanted me to use fear to manipulate people into voting blue, or into voting not Trump.”
He said it was clear the campaign was about the midterm elections.
Online, the foundation is identified as a 501(c)(3) organization set up to “counter disinformation.”
“Good Information Inc., which is backed by billionaires Reid Hoffman, George Soros, and others, was established in 2021 to fund media companies and ‘efforts that tackle disinformation,’ Axios reported in October 2021,” Breitbart said.
It claims to want to “increase the flow of good, factual information online to counter and rebut the spread of misinformation and disinformation.”
Its tax-exempt status falls, however, falls under a category reserved for public education and charitable works.
“Breitbart News asked the IRS on Monday if the Good Information Foundation’s alleged activities put the organization in violation of 501(c)(3) rules. The IRS said it cannot comment on the legality of an organization’s actions without an official audit and pointed to a federal statute that mandates that 501(c)(3) organizations are ‘absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.'”
