Perpetually aggrieved anti-Trump agitator Robert Reich is calling for Trump to be disqualified from running for president.
While Trump is already facing two politically motivated indictments, Reich, a socialist who served as Bill Clinton's Labor Secretary, is calling for an even harsher crackdown on President Biden's leading rival.
"It's that simple," Reich declared.
To the dismay of many Democrats, a conviction in a court of law would not prohibit Trump from running for president under the Constitution.
As a workaround to that pesky obstruction known as the ballot box, Reich proposed knocking Trump off the ballot altogether using the 14th Amendment, which bars "insurrectionists" from holding federal office.
“Not only should Trump be prosecuted,” Reich tweeted, “but Section 3 of the 14th Amendment clearly bars anyone from holding office who has ‘engaged in insurrection’ against the United States of America. He should be disqualified from running for president. It’s that simple.”

The idea of using the 14th Amendment to stop Trump from running has gained circulation ever since the January 6th "insurrection," which Democrats have called an act of sedition akin to the Confederate rebellion.
Trump is still facing potential charges over January 6th from Biden prosecutor Jack Smith, who unsealed an unprecedented federal indictment of Trump over classified documents on Friday.
Although it's unlikely Trump will be forced off the ballot, Democrats could try to knock out his campaign by having him jailed. In a defiant post-indictment speech Saturday, Trump denounced the authoritarian methods of his "communist" enemies as a throwback to Stalin's Russia.
"Biden is trying to jail his leading political opponent and opponent that’s beating him by a lot in the polls, just like they do in Stalinist Russia or Communist China," Trump said.
Trump warned the next election could decide the country's destiny.
"Either we have a deep state, or we have a democracy. We’re going to have one or the other, and we’re right at the tipping point," he said.
For all their lectures about "democracy," it seems Democrats are terrified to let the people choose the next president.
