Singer Michelle Branch arrested in domestic violence incident involving husband

Singer Michelle Branch was arrested early Thursday morning at her home in Nashville after police responded to a domestic incident and she admitted to slapping her husband Patrick Carney one or two times.

Carney did not have visible injuries, but Branch was taken into custody over the incident. Branch and Carney, a drummer in the Black Keys, are reportedly divorcing after three years of marriage.

Branch was released on $1,000 bail later Thursday morning because she is breastfeeding a six-month-old daughter she and Carney share.

“To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” Branch said in a statement. “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”

Cheating allegations

Branch and Keys have two children, including the breastfeeding infant and an almost four-year-old son, Rhys.

TMZ reported that Branch accused Carney of cheating on her with his manager, but no further details were available and Carney has not responded to the allegations.

Branch was previously married to Teddy Landau from 2004-2015 and they share a 17-year-old daughter.

According to Yahoo News, Branch will have to appear in court on November 7.

Branch’s career

Branch, 39, came to prominence as a singer in the early 2000s with the single “Everywhere.” She continued to produce hits through the 2000s and formed the duo group The Wreckers with Samantha and Jessica Harp.

Her first two solo albums sold over a million copies each, and in 2003 she won a Grammy for a song on which she and Santana collaborated.

She was nominated to be one of VH1’s 100 Greatest Women in Music of All Time in 2012. Today, she is reportedly worth around $15 million.

She met Carney in 2017 when they produced her album Hopeless Romantic together, according to Buzzfeed.
