Christie blasts Biden for folding to progressives: ‘Why should we be surprised?’

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) just exposed President Joe Biden on national television.

According to Breitbart, Christie accused Biden of folding to progressives in the Democratic Party on so many issues that the president seems to have all but abandoned his reputation as a moderate and taken up progressivism himself.

“Why should we be surprised?”

Christie’s comments came on Sunday during an appearance on ABC News’ This Week.

There, Christie said the moderate Biden who spent decades in the Senate — and the one who voters cast their ballots for back in November 2020 — “is now officially dead and buried.” In its place, said the Republican who once ran for president against Donald Trump, is a much more radical liberal.

“I had a political science professor who said when your adversary is willing to commit suicide, there’s no reason to commit murder,” Christie said, according to Breitbart. “The result is the same. It’s the death of 2020 Joe Biden,” he said.

“The guy who ran against the progressives ran against Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, ran to be a uniter in this country, ran saying he was going to force compromise… He went up to Capitol Hill, and he capitulated to the progressives, the liberals in his party,” the former governor added.

“And why should we be surprised?” Christie said. “He couldn’t stand up to the Taliban. How could we expect him to stand up to AOC?”

“He hasn’t stood up to anyone”

Christie is right: Time and again, we have seen Biden give in to the progressives, most recently on the subject of infrastructure with his $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” proposal.

It was made pretty clear last week that progressives are calling the shots on the proposal. Their threat to tank the $1.1 trillion infrastructure bill was enough to force House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Democratic leadership to call off a vote until later this month at the earliest.

It was one of the most explicit examples thus far of the progressives’ hold over the Democratic Party.

Later in his Sunday interview, Christie was pressed on his stance, which one panelist called “partisan.” But the former governor doubled down.

“Hold on a second,” he said, according to Breitbart. “Did he stand up to the Taliban? Why is that partisan? He hasn’t stood up to anyone except for the people in his own party who nominated him.”
