After being implicated in the Hunter Biden laptop coverup, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is now facing serious calls for his resignation.
And, if he does not resign, the Washington Examiner reports that some congressional Republicans have already begun to threaten Blinken with impeachment.
The two congressional Republicans who are leading the resignation/impeachment calls are U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ). Other congressional Republicans have also joined in.
Biggs made his call for Blinken to resign in an interview that he recently did with Just the News.
There, Biggs said that the recent revelation about Blinken's involvement in the Hutner Biden laptop coverup "probably disqualifies him to serve as the Secretary of State."
Biggs said:
Let's talk about our allies who now don't trust us at all. And why would they? They think we're weak, untrustworthy. How in the world can he remain our spokesperson to the world? ... I just don't see how he can, and he should go. I think he's irreparably harmed the United States.
Biggs went on to say, bluntly, "Yeah, in fact, I'll break it on your show. Tony Blinken, you should resign."
Sen. Johnson had a similar message for Blinken.
But, Johnson, during his interview Friday with Star News Network, appeared to give Blinken an ultimatum, saying, "And if he doesn't resign, he should be impeached."
"Again, so many members of the Biden administration have this level of deceit, dishonesty, and corruption," Johnson added. "This is a lawless administration."
The backstory here is that Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee recently released an excerpt from a deposition with former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell in which Morell claimed that Blinken play a significant role in the coverup of the Hunter Biden laptop story in the leadup to the 2020 presidential election.
Blinken, at the time, was then-candidate Joe Biden's senior campaign advisor. And, it appears that Morell, in his deposition with the committee, indicated that Blinken was the driving force behind the letter signed by 51 U.S. intelligence officials claiming that the Hunter Biden laptop story was "Russian disinformation."
We now know, however, that U.S. intelligence knew that this was not true. We also know that the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story likely changed the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
At the time of this writing, Blinken has yet to respond to the allegations - or the calls for his resignation/impeachment.
