It’s not a secret that Fox News’ Sean Hannity isn’t a fan of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
According to Fox News, on Monday night, Hannity not only dropped the hammer on President Joe Biden and his administration for its response to the pandemic, but he also took a shot at Fauci, demanding that he be fired for being “wrong too often.”
Hannity slams Biden admin
One of very few cable news personalities with the courage to take on the Biden administration, as far as its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hannity laid out a case describing how badly the administration botched the messaging regarding pandemic-related updates.
“Instead of communicating a coherent strategy for what we now know to be the delta variant, the Biden administration is even attacking their press secretaries in the media mob, that’s how desperate they are,” Hannity said.
The Fox host added: “One White House staffer called the coverage of breakthrough COVID-19 cases, ‘completely irresponsible’ saying, ‘the media’s coverage doesn’t match the moment and has been hyperbolic.'”
He went on to cite statistics concerning breakthrough cases of COVID-19, which are much lower than what most of the mainstream media would want their viewers to believe. Hannity added that breakthrough cases have only happened in .075% of vaccinated individuals.
“We’re not whipping up hysteria for profit as the Biden administration really was accusing people at NBC and their reliable allies in the media mob. We’re just giving you facts and honest perspective,” the highly-rated Fox News host said.
After demanding that the Biden administration provide clear answers to questions that Americans have about the latest pandemic-related developments, he turned his attention to Fauci, who he believes has been wrong more times than he’s been right.
“Dr. Fauci needs to be fired. He’s been wrong too often,” Hannity said.
Hannity joins a number of high-profile Republicans who have also gone on record calling for Fauci’s firing or resignation, including Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), who tweeted in July, “The time has come for Fauci to resign and for a full congressional investigation into the origins of #COVID19 – and into any and all efforts to prevent a full accounting.”
According to CNBC, Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) made a similar call earlier this year, saying “It is long past time for Dr. Fauci to stop talking to the American public. Fauci should resign or be fired immediately.”
While it’s unlikely that Biden will fire him or Fauci will resign as a result of Republicans’ call to do so, the NIAID director has raised questions that need to be answered, and until that happens, he’ll continue to lose the public’s trust.
