Former Navy SEALs slam Biden White House over botched Afghanistan withdrawal

A group of former Navy SEALs who are planning to run for political office is calling out President Joe Biden for his failure to bring all Americans home from Afghanistan amid the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the region.

According to BizPacReview, the nearly half-dozen ex-SEALs unleashed harsh criticism against the White House over the fact that Americans remain behind enemy lines in Afghanistan. They reportedly wondered “why [Biden] has not mandated that Americans still trapped in Afghanistan be rescued rather than COVID-19 vaccines.”

“Rescue our citizens”

According to BizPacReview, the former SEALs broached the topic while speaking on the shocking and tragic deaths of 13 U.S. military service members in a terrorist bombing at the Kabul airport as American troops were conducting evacuation efforts there as they completed their withdrawal.

After all the troops were out, reports emerged indicating there were Americans left behind. Biden, for his part, promised to do all he could to get them out. But the simple fact is that he hasn’t.

Morgan Luttrell, one of the former SEALS who is preparing to run as a Republican for Texas’ 8th Congressional District, posed a good question during a recent interview with Fox News:

If the Biden administration is so concerned about saving American lives with these [coronavirus] mandates, these mask mandates and so on so forth, why don’t they mandate we rescue our citizens and save their lives as well over in Afghanistan?

Luttrell said that he has been in contact with Americans who still have family members stuck in Afghanistan, and they have been begging for help.

“All Biden has to do is say, let’s do this,” Luttrell said, according to Fox News. “Let’s mandate this; task [Joint Chiefs chair and U.S. Army Gen. Mark] Milley, task [Defense Secretary Lloyd] Austin, and go get our people.”

Where are the investigations?

Ryan Zinke, another former SEAL who is planning to run for Montana’s 2nd Congressional District, also chimed in: “Where are the congressional investigations?”

Zinke said of the withdrawal, “This is a Biden-created crisis, that we’ve left our family members, we’ve left our allies hanging in the winds, and not only has our government not been helpful of getting our people out, they have been, in many cases, the obstacles.” He added that “we should have investigations and get to the truth about what’s going on.”

Brady Duke, a former SEAL said to be vying for a House seat out of Florida’s 7th Congressional District, likewise condemned military leaders in Biden’s administration for being “careless about taking responsibility for what was a botched withdrawal.”

According to BizPacReview, he said:

And I think withdrawal is going too far. I think it’s really just a retreat, you know, you can’t say that it’s a success when you turn your back to the enemy on the battlefield. You know, while there’s Americans that we must, we must rescue from this country.

“You know, I think that we have to, we have to understand that this was a failure, that this was a failure. And we cannot continue this way. It was deeply un-American,” Duke added.
