Sen. Rick Scott says Biden resignation a ‘quick and easy solution’ to inflation, economic woes

President Joe Biden has ramped up his attacks against Republicans in recent weeks and has particularly singled out Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) for criticism over a tax reform proposal the Florida senator has put forward to address the nation’s fiscal insanity.

In something of a prebuttal ahead of a Biden speech Tuesday in which, as expected, the president renewed his attacks on the senator, Scott suggested the best way to address rising price inflation would be Biden’s resignation, Fox News reported.

Of course, Biden dismissively laughed off that call to resign from Scott and insisted that it was the Florida Republican, and not himself, who “has a problem.”

Scott calls for Biden’s resignation

Following numerous rhetorical assaults against “MAGA Republicans” generally and Sen. Scott specifically over the past week or so, and in advance of a speech on the economy Wednesday from President Biden, the Florida senator issued a statement in anticipation of what would be said later by the president.

“It’s simple. The most effective thing Joe Biden can do to solve the inflation crisis he created is resign. He’s the problem. Getting him out of office is a quick and easy solution,” Scott said.

“Let’s be honest here. Joe Biden is unwell. He’s unfit for office. He’s incoherent, incapacitated and confused. He doesn’t know where he is half the time. He’s incapable of leading and he’s incapable of carrying out his duties. Period,” the senator added. “Everyone knows it. No one is willing to say it. But we have to, for the sake of the country. Joe Biden can’t do the job.”

Biden takes shots at Scott

During Biden’s speech, as had been expected, the president lashed out at Republicans and seemingly accused them of being to blame for the current skyrocketing consumer prices while also again singling out Scott, who he mistakenly said was a senator from Wisconsin, with disingenuous and outright false critiques of the senator’s tax reform ideas.

After the speech concluded, a reporter asked the president to address the quoted statement from Scott and call to resign. Biden simply laughed and said, “Resign? That’s a good idea.”

When further confronted with what the senator had said about Biden being “unwell” and “unfit” to continue serving in the White House, the president replied, “I think the man has a problem.”

Scott fires back

Later on Tuesday afternoon, Sen. Scott took to Twitter and shared a clip of that moment and also offer his own response to what had just been said.

“@JoeBiden is right. I do have a problem,” Scott wrote. “I have a problem with a weak, incoherent & confused president crushing the dreams of American families with raging inflation & doing NOTHING to fix it. Biden is a failed president & it’s time for him to resign.”

Scott also took a moment during a press conference with other GOP senators to reiterate his call for Biden’s resignation over his failed leadership on the economy and inflation, and said, “In the private sector when you have a CEO that doesn’t have the ability to deal with something, they resign. They go and do something else. Joe Biden ought to do the exact same thing.”
