On Friday, congressional Democrats — led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) — were presented with the GOP’s list of proposed witnesses for their upcoming public impeachment hearings.
On Saturday, Schiff basically tore it up and told the GOP to try again, the Washington Examiner reports.
Not Going to Happen
When Democrats wrote the rules for the impeachment, Schiff was given the power of veto over any witness the GOP wanted to call.
On the list for the GOP were Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, among others. Additionally, the whistleblower and anyone related to preparing the complaint were also on the list.
Schiff, of course, said no to them all.
He stated: “This inquiry is not, and will not serve, however, as a vehicle to undertake the same sham investigations into the Bidens or 2016 that the President pressed Ukraine to conduct for his personal political benefit, or to facilitate the President’s effort to threaten, intimidate, and retaliate against the whistleblower who courageously raised the initial alarm.”
In other words, Schiff will not allow the GOP to call anyone he thinks will actually help the case of Donald Trump.
These hearings are supposed to be unbiased and allow both sides to present their case to their fellow members of Congress so an informed decision can be made to move forward with this impeachment or not.
When the GOP crafted their list, it was well done because it would expose just how biased these hearings are going to be under Democrats.
Republicans knew full well Schiff would never allow the frontrunning candidate’s son to be on the witness stand when he is trying to win the nomination.
The witnesses Schiff has refused have all been implicated in this case in some way, shape, or form, especially Hunter Biden, but we will never get to hear from him in the House hearings.
All is not lost, though, because eventually, this is going to land in the Republican-held Senate, where the truth will finally be revealed and Trump will be exonerated.
