Sarah Sanders has managed to keep her cool under fire every day… until now.
While reading a 10-year-old letter written by a father to his son serving in Afghanistan, Sanders had to visibly choke back tears as she read the father’s words.
The father, only known as Joseph, wanted to send his son a letter to let him know he understood the purpose for which he fought.
“Please don’t lose sight of your purpose.
You’re the only hope and glimmer of light for the good, innocent men, women, and children that you are protecting.
This may be hard for you to understand.
Most people know that all of you are there because you volunteered to be there. Your actions and dedication are seen by people throughout the world as without a doubt the most heroic action of any person which can be made.
You and the soldiers standing next to you from all of the other countries are the pride of not only the nations they represent, but every individual that years to be free.
Stand tall, my son, and be steadfast. For it is you who are the defender of freedom.”
War with a Purpose
The man sent the letter to the president in the hopes he would read it.
We can only imagine it was also to support the president’s decision to increase our presence in the Middle East in an effort to finally bring this war to a close.
While choking back tears, Sanders stated that for the sake of every man and woman who has fought and/or lost their lives in this war, they are owed a debt by Trump.
That debt is secure “an honorable and lasting outcome to this conflict.”
One thing history as taught us that we cannot let up until the enemy is completely defeated.
Anything else and we will likely find ourselves in this exact position years from now.
