Much to the surprise of the liberal talking heads, Republicans are actually rallying behind their president.
According to a recent Morning Consult/Politico poll, more than 75 percent of Republican voters support President Donald Trump declaring a national emergency to build the wall.
Trump and Republican voters have had a rather interesting relationship throughout this presidency.
When Trump was running for office, he had far more support in the party than any poll ever stated.
It was as if stalwart Republicans were getting his message but did not want to admit they were actually going to vote for him.
His “in-your-face” methods were not to their liking, but they firmly believed in his platform.
We are seeing much the same thing now with public support for the border wall.
Ask a man or woman to their face in public about it, and many will say it is unneeded simply because they are afraid of the public perception of supporting the wall.
Ask them privately or in a random anonymous poll, and we start to see the real numbers.
Finally Fighting Back
Much like many crises in Trump’s presidency, the shutdown was needed to make a point.
Democrats have been spewing anti-Trump rhetoric for months and it was finally time to call them out.
When Trump began the shutdown, Democrats made a fuss over the federal workers and military members that were not receiving paychecks (the Coast Guard was unfunded at that point).
Republicans countered by bringing several measures to the floor that would have paid these individuals, but the callous Democrats shot them all down.
Leading the wave of resistance was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.
They claimed Trump was using federal workers as pawns but when the dust settled, it became clear it was actually the Democrats who were responsible.
The overwhelming immigration problem combined with the two-faced lies spoken by some of the most powerful Democrats in this country are finally starting to wake people up.
The massive wave of support by Republicans is only the beginning, as we are finally seeing signs of support from Democrat voters who also want a solution.
It may take a little time, but make no mistake about it, Trump will get the wall built.
