The Daily Wire reports that some congressional Republicans have begun to call for U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to resign.
The resignation calls come after reports that Blinken allegedly played a key role in the cover-up of the Hunter Biden laptop story during the leadup to the 2020 presidential election.
The revelation came from former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell.
Morell recently participated in a deposition with the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee, and it was during this deposition that Morell revealed Blinken's role in the cover-up.
The following information comes from an excerpt of the disposition that was recently released by the committee.
The background here is that, in the leadup to the 2020 presidential election between then-candidate Joe Biden and then-President Donald Trump, the New York Post published a bombshell report claiming that a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden shows political corruption in the Biden family.
Several pro-Biden entities attempted to silence the Post's report, including the mainstream media and Big Tech. But, in addition to this, a letter was circulated in which 51 U.S. intelligence agencies claimed that the Hunter Biden laptop was "Russian disinformation." It would later be shown that this not only was not true but that U.S. intelligence knew that it was not true.
In his deposition, Morell revealed that Blinken was behind the letter. Blinken, at the time, was a senior adviser to Biden's campaign.
Blinken, at the time of this writing, has yet to respond to the allegation.
Now, several congressional Republicans are calling upon Blinken to resign, if he really was behind the "Russian disinformation" letter.
Among them is U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ). Biggs, on Friday, said, "This, in my opinion, probably disqualifies him to serve as the secretary of state." Biggs went on to suggest that Republicans may impeach Blinken, but, in the meantime, he said, "Tony Blinken, you should resign."
Another call for Blinken to resign came from U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI). "If he doesn’t resign, he should be impeached," Johnson said.
U.S. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) took things a step further, saying, "Anthony Blinken is a disgrace. He has now lost ALL credibility. He’s damaged our country irreparably. He needs to RESIGN NOW!!”
It remains to be seen how this situation will play out. For now, the Democrats are trying to claim that Morell did not implicate Blinken in the matter. But, we are waiting to see the White House's and Blinken's response.
