Reports indicate vetting process for Afghan refugees is far from sufficient

The next big political fight, especially with the backdrop of the 2022 midterm elections, will focus on the tens of thousands of Afghan refugees recently brought into the United States and those who have yet to arrive.

The situation, according to The Daily Wire, is already facing increased scrutiny, with one of the primary concerns focusing on whether or not the vetting process for the Afghan vets is sufficient. The Biden administration swears it is, but new reports are telling a vastly different story.

What’s going on?

The situation is apparently so alarming that it has the full attention of The New York Times. The typically Biden-friendly media outlet pointed out that for many of the incoming Afghan refugees, proper records, flight manifests, and other critical data simply don’t exist.

“Flight manifests have been at times incomplete or missing, visa or citizenship status is unknown, and there is a lack of basic demographic data,” the Times wrote.

As noted, the Biden administration, on multiple occasions, has promised that the Afghan vets arriving on U.S. soil have been vetted, but given what is known about the circumstances on the ground in Kabul, especially in the last chaotic days of the evacuation process, people were literally being shoved onto outgoing flights.

“Refugees pushed their way onto airplanes. Hundreds of children were separated from their parents. Rogue flights landed without manifests. Security vetting of refugees was done in hours or days, rather than months or years,” the Times wrote.

One doesn’t need to be an expert to presume that there exists a number of Afghan refugees, many of whom are already being settled in the United States, who have not been fully vetted to the point where we should feel safe with letting them loose across the country.

Vetting a “disaster”

Jason Rantz of KTTH tweeted an alarming piece of information regarding the status of many of the refugees — information that came directly from former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.

“Top U.S. officials have informed him that Biden’s vetting process for Afghan nationals is a disaster, noting many do not have documentation and that the admin is telling officials to go with their gut feeling,” Rantz wrote.

Adding yet another disgusting layer to what will soon become the top issue of the day is the fact that the Associated Press dug into reports that Afghan men have already been seen bringing young girls, or “brides,” with them on their escape from Afghanistan, prompting requests from some inside the State Department looking for guidance on the issue from Biden’s White House.

“Intake staff at Fort McCoy reported multiple cases of minor females who presented as ‘married’ to adult Afghan men, as well as polygamous families,” a document obtained by the AP read.

It’s no wonder why Biden’s polls are plummeting, as he already lost the confidence of most of the country over his Afghanistan blunder. Now he’ll somehow have to tackle and fix a refugee situation that could rival the crisis at the southern U.S. border.
