According to Radar Online, former Fox News Anchor Chris Wallace is “irate” after the recent ousting of CNN president Jeff Zucker.
The outlet also reports that Wallace is “second-guessing his decision” to join CNN now that Zucker is gone.
“Wallace feels . . . stiffed”
Radar Online came by this information by way of insiders.
One “TV industry insider” told the outlet:
Chris is the type of person who makes it known if he doesn’t like something. He went over there for Zucker and now Zucker is gone. Wallace feels that he has been stiffed. He’s got no staff, no Executive Producer, and the guy he gave up a prized gig for has just walked out the door.
Another source explained to Radar Online part of what might be driving Wallace’s meltdown.
“It’s no secret in DC that Wallace hates Jake Tapper and despises Sam Feist,” the source said, referring to CNN’s other leading personalities. “Zucker spun his magic to allay Chris’ concern about the pair, promising that his status as a ‘premiere journalist’ would not be compromised while working out of the DC bureau.”
In short, without Zucker, it appears that Wallace is feeling a bit more vulnerable.
Background
Wallace decided to give up his Fox News gig recently after 18 years with the outlet. Instead, he decided to join CNN specifically for a spot on Zucker’s new streaming-video service, called CNN+.
Wallace made it clear that Zucker was a big part of his decision to leave Fox for CNN. “I am honored and delighted to join Jeff Zucker and his great team,” he said upon his departure in December.
Zucker, in return, made it known that the feeling is mutual. “It is not often that a news organization gets the opportunity to bring someone of Chris Wallace’s caliber on board,” he said.
That’s all in the dust bin now though. Zucker recently departed from CNN after the discovery of an inappropriate relationship with a coworker, or at least that’s the official narrative. Others, however, have argued that because this relationship was well-known there must have been some other reason for Zucker’s departure, such as CNN’s abysmal ratings.
Whatever the case may be, here’s for hoping that Wallace goes with him and the pair are never heard from again.
