It has become crystal clear at this point that Republicans — and rightly so — are not letting the Biden administration and top Democrats forget how bad the Afghanistan situation truly is, especially given the fact that there are still Americans literally trapped behind enemy lines.
According to TheBlaze, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is not only leading a charge in the House to impeach President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, but she also recently told Glenn Beck that she’ll add House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to that list as well.
Boebert’s on fire
In the interview with Beck, Boebert opened up by thanking the conservative radio host for raising tens of millions of dollars for his Nazarene Fund, which was used to help rescue over 5,000 Christians from Afghanistan as the Taliban quickly took control of the country.
She went on to talk about her call for Biden’s impeachment, accusing the president of being guilty of a “dereliction of duty,” a sentiment shared by other high-profile politicians such as Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
“He has not fulfilled his oath of office as president of the United States and commander-in-chief,” the Colorado Republican added.
She hammered Biden and his top officials for not showing leadership and failing to protect endangered Americans on the ground in Afghanistan, let alone U.S. troops or the billions of dollars in equipment left behind for the Taliban to use at their leisure.
Boebert added: “I have legislation that will be introduced to impeach both Biden and [Vice President Kamala] Harris. And Nancy Pelosi can follow them out the freaking door.”
Others call for impeachment
While several Democrats have called for congressional inquiries into what exactly led to such a humiliating foreign policy disaster under Biden’s watch, a growing list of Republicans in both the House and Senate are standing firm on demanding that Biden face impeachment.
One of the proponents of impeachment also includes Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) who, according to Fox 5 Atlanta, recently wrote on Twitter, “It’s time for Congress to hold this administration accountable. Joe Biden must be impeached. Immediately.”
Taylor Greene has already issued multiple resolutions to kick-start the process.
Other Republicans, such as South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan and Tennessee Rep. Diana Harshberger, have joined Taylor Greene’s efforts, though such a process is unlikely to happen at the current time, as Democrats, under Pelosi, can quickly quash any such efforts.
But Biden, Harris, and even Pelosi had better gear up for the days following the 2022 midterms when Republicans are expected to retake majority control, as it’s more than likely we’ll see a number of impeachment votes at that time, or so we hope.
