Leftist protesters in Washington, D.C. unfurled a huge banner reading “Remove Trump” near the White House on election night as President Donald Trump and his team members spent the night there, waiting on results.
According to Breitbart, the large black and white banner was seen at Black Lives Matter Plaza on Tuesday in a video shared by Bloomberg.

Election night protests
The demonstration was organized by far-left activist group Shutdown DC, which has been planning anti-Trump protests for election week for months, according to Breitbart.
Signs with slogans such as “Trump Pence #OUT NOW!” and “Abolish The Police” were carried by protesters or hung up on security fencing. Some scuffles with bystanders and police have also been reported.
Hundreds of protesters gathered at the plaza again on Wednesday night as the election still had not been called, though DCist noted that the crowds were “quieter” than on election night.
The plaza, a two-block section of 16th Street NW, is next to Lafayette Square, which has long been a favorite gathering place for activists. During the June protests that followed the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser renamed the street section “Black Lives Matter Plaza,” and the public works department painted “Black Lives Matter” on the street in large yellow letters. The new name was made permanent by the city council in late October, according to WTOP.
As protests continued, three people, a woman and two men, were reportedly stabbed in an altercation near the White House early Wednesday morning. WTOP reports that their injuries are not life-threatening. According to police, the victims identified themselves as affiliated with the Proud Boys and said they were attacked by Black Lives Matter protesters. The police have not yet been able to confirm the claim, and the incident is under investigation, NBC Washington reports. Police are looking for three suspects.
Other protesters reportedly banged on the doors of D.C. residents while marching late on election night, shouting “Wake up!,” the Washington Examiner reported.
More protests planned
With the results of the presidential race still in doubt, Shutdown DC has announced more “caravan” protests for Thursday and Friday morning. “We’re putting the Republican Party and the White House on notice that we will not tolerate the attempt to subvert democracy and illegitimately seize power. A combination of cars, bikes, and on-foot demonstrators will take action to disrupt business as usual until all votes are counted and our democracy is legitimate,” the group’s website reads.
Meanwhile, pro-Trump protesters reportedly gathered in Maricopa County, Arizona, where ballots are still being counted late Wednesday night. Chanting “Fox News sucks!,” Republicans expressed frustration with Fox News after the network prematurely called the state for Biden on Tuesday night.
As of Thursday morning, the state’s results are “still too close to call,” NBC News reported.
