Trump shreds Mueller over Roger Stone arrest

January 26, 2019 by Jerry McCormick

President Donald Trump wasn’t pleased with the FBI’s dramatic arrest of Roger Stone Friday. Stone was indicted for making false statements, obstruction, and witness-tampering in the course of special counsel Robert Mueller’s collusion investigation.

After watching the CNN footage of the early morning FBI raid, Trump blasted the Justice Department’s over-the-top treatment of Stone.

“Greatest Witch Hunt in the History of our Country! NO COLLUSION! Border Coyotes, Drug Dealers and Human Traffickers are treated better. Who alerted CNN to be there?” Trump tweeted.

How Did They Know?

How in the world did CNN know about the raid on Stone’s house?

During the initial report, the onsite reporter was asked that very question.

Initially, he said it was just gut instinct that led to him to be outside of Stone’s house that day.

His reasoning was the significant amount of grand jury activity the previous day.

Oddly enough, though, none of the other major outlets had a reporter with that tingly feeling that something was about to go down.

One could also point to the number of angles the network had covered.

This was a significant amount of resources to dedicate based on gut instinct,

What About Safety?

Another point brought up by author Greta Van Susteren was the safety aspect of allowing the cameras and lights to be rolling while agents served the warrant.

CNN tried to play up the pre-dawn raid as normal FBI procedure when it thinks its agents could be in danger. But did they really expect the 66-year-old Stone to open the door blasting away with an AR-15?

It seems plausible that someone tipped off CNN about the raid and the FBI wanted it on the news when the arrest took place.

And it supports Stone’s claim that the whole affair is “politically motivated.”
