President Joe Biden’s approval rating just hit rock bottom in another poll, the Washington Examiner reports.
This poll was conducted by YouGov for CBS News. The pollster surveyed a “nationally representative sample of 2,062 U.S. adult residents” between April 5 and April 8.
The findings
In this poll, President Biden’s approval came in at only 42%. The majority — 58% — indicated that they disapprove of the job that Biden is doing as America’s president.
Breaking the numbers down further, 39%, a plurality, said that they strongly disapprove of Biden’s job performance, while 19% said that they somewhat disapprove of it. That’s opposed to 23% who said that they somewhat approve of Biden’s job performance and only 19% who said that they strongly approve of it.
As for why Biden’s approval rating is so low, it would appear that the ongoing economic crisis is one big reason. Sixty-three percent of participants indicated that they are not happy with Biden’s handling of the economy, and 69% said that they are dissatisfied with Biden’s handling of the inflation that we have been seeing.
Two other reasons why Biden’s approval rating is so low are crime and immigration. Some 62% indicated that they disapprove of Biden’s handling of immigration, and 61% said that they disapprove of Biden’s handling of crime.
The poll has almost no bright spot for Biden or his administration.
A new low
This is the worst poll yet that Biden has received from CBS News/YouGov.
A little more than a year ago, in March 2021, the pollster had Biden’s approval up at 62%. By August 2021, it dropped to 50% before going down to 44% in November 2021.
Ever since then, it has been hovering around the low 40s. It was at 43% for both February and March of this year. Now, in April, 42% is the new low for Biden.
RealClearPolitics, a polling aggregator, has Biden’s average approval rating at 41.3%, and it has his average disapproval rating at 53.8%. This means that Biden, on average, is underwater by 12.5 percentage points.
Just about all of the polls factored into these averages have Biden’s approval somewhere around the low 40s. A couple of polls, though, do have Biden below 40%. Those polls come from Marist and Harris. They were taken at the end of March.
