President Biden visits daughter-in-law Hallie Biden as she prepares to testify against his son Hunter

President Joe Biden visited daughter-in-law Hallie Biden under the cover of night Sunday as she prepares to testify against his son, Hunter Biden, Just The News reported. Hunter Biden is facing two separate trials for gun crimes and tax evasion.

The president felt compelled to visit Hallie Biden's Delaware home after 8 p.m. on Sunday over the holiday weekend. Some speculate that the timing is significant as Hallie Biden will give her testimony over her involvement in his alleged gun law violations.

She was romantically involved with Hunter Biden in 2018 when he allegedly illegally purchased a weapon she later dumped for him. Hallie Biden is the widow of the president's other son, Beau Biden, who is now deceased, the New York Post reported.

The pair began their relationship shortly after Beau Biden's 2015 death from cancer. Hallie Biden is expected to testify against Hunter Biden as well as his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle.

The Alleged Crimes

The gun charges stem from a 2018 weapons purchase the younger Biden made while in the throes of addiction. Hunter Biden lied about his drug use and Hallie Biden ditched it for him in a dumpster.

He faces weapons charges in that trial, which will begin on June 3. At least a dozen witnesses are expected to give their testimony against him in that trial.

Hunter Biden is also facing tax evasion charges in Los Angeles, California, with that trial expected to begin in September. He is accused of bilking the government out of $1.4 million in federal income taxes over the course of three years beginning in 2016.

The president's son could face prison time if convicted of the crimes before him. Joe Biden's visit to Hallie Biden at such a time suggests witness tampering, but the White House denies it.

"No," White House spokesman Andrew Bates said when asked about whether the pair spoke of Hunter Biden's trial during the night visit. "He visited her because of the approaching 9th anniversary of Beau’s passing," Bates explained.

The First Coverup?

The Justice Department allegedly attempted to keep his crimes under wraps to protect Joe Biden, who may have had his hand in shady business dealings with his son. Last June, Hunter Biden took a "sweetheart" plea deal that ended in probation for his alleged crimes.

That deal fell apart the next month and exposed Hunter Biden to the scrutiny of the courts once again. Without the federal government to allegedly shield him, Hunter Biden must rely on the courts and the preponderance of the evidence.

This may not work out for him, as evidenced by his failed last-minute appeal to have the trial dismissed. As Fox News reported, Hunter Biden's attorneys attempted to argue that his Second Amendment rights negate the charges against him to no avail.

His request for a pretrial dismissal was denied, thus confirming Hallie Biden's need to testify. "The defendant’s Second Amendment defense does not implicate a right not to be tried that can be collaterally appealed," the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruled.

Hunter Biden will have to face the consequences of his actions. Whether his father was once again running interference for him or simply expressing sympathy and shared grief with Hallie Biden, it's not a good look for him or the nation.
