A new Axios/Survey Monkey poll placed two of President Donald Trump’s children almost on top of the hypothetical candidate list for the 2024 presidential election.
While the election is still almost five years away, Republicans have clearly been impressed with Donald Trump, Jr. and Ivanka Trump, who play key roles in their father’s campaign and administration, respectively. In the poll, Trump Jr. led all but one other potential candidate with 29% support, and Ivanka Trump was fourth, with 16%, according to Survey Monkey’s report.
Current Vice President Mike Pence was favored by 40% of Republicans in the poll, but younger Republicans favored Trump Jr. over Pence.
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley came in third, with 26% support.
Supporting their dad
For his part, Trump Jr. has been vocal about his father’s success as president and has used his 4.2 million Twitter followers to support his father’s decisions and initiatives. He is also involved in his father’s campaign, appearing at rallies and writing a book called Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us, according to The Washington Post.
Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump serves as an official adviser to the president in the White House, and she has spearheaded initiatives to promote education, economic empowerment of women, job creation through workforce development, and entrepreneurship.
She has also given speeches to the U.N. and other organizations representing the Trump administration. While Ivanka Trump’s exact political leanings have not been clear, she has recently supported paid family leave, according to CBS News — not exactly a typical Republican policy.
Still, many see her as a new face for the Republican Party that could attract younger voters in the future.
A snapshot of the future
Neither Trump Jr., 42, nor Ivanka Trump, 38, has said they want to run for president in the future, but neither has ruled it out, either.
Trump Jr. recently divorced his wife Vanessa, with whom he has five young children. He is currently dating former Fox News host and Trump supporter Kimberly Guilfoyle and is an avid hunter who supports the National Rifle Association, according to The Mercury News.
Ivanka Trump is married to Jared Kushner, who also advises the president, and they have three young children.
Both are accomplished speakers who give strong support to their views and their father’s administration. And either would be a good fit for the White House once their father’s time is up.
