Poll finds swing voters overwhelmingly blame Biden’s words, actions for border crisis

Just over two months after President Joe Biden’s inauguration, there is still a long way to go before the 2024 presidential election cycle will be in full swing.

Even at this early stage, however, Biden appears to have a swing-voter problem that could prove fatal to his party’s hopes of another term in the White House, as a bombshell Rasmussen report indicates.

Biden attracts widespread blame

According to Breitbart, pollsters surveyed 1,000 likely voters and found that a majority believe he shoulders the responsibility for a growing influx of undocumented migrants attempting to illegally cross the southern U.S. border.

Citing the president’s statements on the matter as well as his administration’s early policy decisions, swing voters were especially likely to blame Biden. These voters can often make or break a political candidate’s chances, especially in presidential races, since they typically cast a ballot based on issues important to them and their families rather than strict political ideology.

A whopping 57% of the non-Republican and non-Democrat voters surveyed agreed with the statement that Biden “has caused” the border crisis based on his words and deeds.

Furthermore, just 30% of the swing voters believe that the president is not responsible for the wave of migrants. Another 12% were “not sure.”

Among the respective parties, the results were unsurprisingly more polarized if not predictable. Nearly three in four Republicans blamed Biden for the border crisis while just three in 10 Democrats felt the same.

New photos add to controversy

With a large number of politically unaffiliated voters and even a few members of his own party pointing the finger at his administration, the results could spell trouble for Biden or his favored successor.

The poll was conducted between March 18-21, which was prior to the release of several stunning revelations regarding the Biden administration’s attempts to control the deepening border controversy.

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) released photos on Monday showing the deteriorating conditions inside a border detention facility originally meant to hold adults. Several conservative pundits have piled on the Biden administration, especially given its reluctance to allow members of the press to tour the facilities.

Additional negative headlines on the topic include news in recent days that agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection are releasing some migrants onto American soil without issuing a court date.
