New poll shows nearly 6 in 10 voters think Biden should take cognitive test, publicly release results

President Joe Biden has repeatedly shown over the past two years that his mental health and cognitive capabilities are simply not what they once were and have been diminished, rendering him unfit to serve in the important and highly demanding role as president of the United States.

A new poll shows that nearly six in ten voters agree with that sentiment and believe that Biden should take a cognitive test and release its results to the general public, Breitbart reported.

Even Democrats want cognitive test

Pollsters with McLaughlin and Associates conducted a survey of 1,000 voters between August 20-24, and among the questions asked was this: “Do you think Joe Biden should take a cognitive health test and release it publicly?”

In response, 59 percent said “Yes” while 30 percent said “No” and the remaining 11 percent either didn’t know or refused to answer that query, which is consistent with prior polls from McLaughlin on the same question dating back to November 2021.

Unsurprisingly, conservatives and Republicans and supporters of former President Donald Trump overwhelmingly replied “Yes,” but what was somewhat shocking was the fact that even 40-50 percent of Biden-supporting liberals and Democrats also said the president they generally approve of should publicly release the results of a hypothetical cognitive test.

Relatedly, the McLaughlin poll also noted President Biden’s advanced age and asked about the likelihood of Vice President Kamala Harris being compelled to finish out Biden’s term in office. The pollsters found that 52 percent thought such an outcome was likely compared to 39 percent who said it was not likely that Harris would have to take over for Biden at some point prior to the 2024 election.

Majority “worried” about Biden’s mental fitness

Breitbart noted that this poll from McLaughlin can’t really be dismissed as an outlier, as its results appear to be in line with those of other polling outfits who have asked similar questions in prior surveys.

Scott Rasmussen, formerly of Rasmussen Reports, and his new group, RMG Research, asked 1,200 voters in June: “How worried are you about the mental and physical fitness of President Joe Biden?”

That poll found that 59 percent of voters were either “very” or “somewhat” worried about Biden’s mental and physical fitness, while a combined 35 percent said they were not particularly or at all worried about the president’s fitness.

Majority says Biden not mentally fit to be president

Then there was the Harvard CAPS/Harris poll of 1,966 registered voters between April 20-21 that found that 53 percent had doubts that Biden was mentally fit to be president, compared to 47 percent who thought that he was fit to serve in that role.

That poll also found that 62 percent of voters believed that Biden had shown that he was too old to be president, while 38 percent didn’t think his age was a factor.

Breitbart noted that some of President Biden’s critics have called on him to take a cognitive test in order to either prove that he is up to job of being president or is in a position he has no business being, and it would appear that a solid and consistent majority of the American people feel the same way.
