Chicago police arrest two suspects after attack on ‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett that leftists blamed on Trump

President Donald Trump has been vindicated.

Though leftists blamed the president for an alleged attack on Empire actor Jussie Smollett, Chicago police filed no charges on Friday against two men they arrested on Wednesday amid claims that the incident may have been staged.

Rumors Running Rampant

Rumors that the allegedly racist and homophobic attack on Smollett did not take place as the actor described got started when a reporter for ABC7 in Chicago tweeted that Smollett’s character was being written out of Empire, a Fox sitcom.

The reporter’s sources claimed the attack against Smollett — which Smollett alleged was brought on because he is black and plays a gay character on Empire — was staged by the actor so the show would more or less be forced to keep him on for ratings.

The show immediately pushed back on the claim, saying that Smollett’s departure from the show has not been discussed and is not in the show’s immediate future.

But what would you really expect them to say, especially with as much attention as this case has received in recent days?

The Attackers

The ABC7 reporter’s rumor was further fueled by reports about the persons of interest that police have arrested in the case: two brothers who were reportedly being held at a local police station for questioning as late as Friday evening.

The two men were not only allegedly extras at one point on the show — but they are also of Nigerian descent.

As you may recall, Smollett described the men as both wearing ski masks, using racial slurs, and wearing pro-Trump “Make America Great Again” hats.

The implication by Smollett was fairly clear from his interviews that these were fervent Trump supporters who did not like him because of his skin color — but that seems to not be the case.

Still, local police have made it very clear that Smollett is still considered a victim in this case. However, it will be very interesting to hear what happens after the police have the suspects in “the room” to ask them some questions.

If it turns out Smollett staged the entire thing, Lady Justice needs to introduce herself to him.
