Pierce Brosnan cited for venturing into Yellowstone hot springs

James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan got himself into a real-world jam at Yellowstone National Park.

The GoldenEye star was cited for venturing into the park's famous thermal springs.

The area is off limits to visitors - but much like the famous daredevil he portrayed in the movies, Brosnan was not deterred by the rules.

Pierce Brosnan breaks the rules...

Yellowstone Park is dotted with signs spelling out the dangers of the hot springs and urging visitors to stay on designated paths.

"Boardwalks and trails protect you and delicate thermal formations," the Yellowstone website says. “Always walk on boardwalks and designated trails. Keep children close and do not let them run on boardwalks.”

Some adventurous visitors have been badly burned or even killed.

But of course, Bond was never one for the beaten track.

Court date scheduled

A photograph showed the seasoned 70-year-old Irish actor, with a distinguished, silvery beard, taking a dip at the Mammoth Terraces, one of the park's many natural marvels.

There's no sign that Brosnan left the scene in a jetpack or an Aston Martin.

Brosnan was charged with Foot Travel in a Thermal Area and Closure Violation, which comes with fines of up to $5,000 and six months in jail.

Brosnan ordered to appear

Brosnan was reportedly at the park for leisure on November 1. The park has its own courthouse, the Yellowstone Justice Center, and Brosnan has been ordered to appear there in January.

While mostly known for bringing Bond into the modern era with GoldenEye and other titles, Brosnan has also had comedic roles in movies like Mamma Mia! and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Brosnan stars in the new action movie Fast Charlie, along with the late James Caan.

Unlike the perpetual bachelor he played on screen, Brosnan has been happily married for over 20 years, and his admirable devotion to his wife Keeley Shaye Smith has received media attention.

"We like each other a lot. We love each other a lot," Brosnan told Fox News Digital. "And we've been down the road, and we've seen many, many hardships as families do, as we all do."
