A top official in the Biden White House was just busted without a mask on a commercial flight, the Washington Examiner reported.
According to the Examiner, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry was flouting protocols put in place by President Joe Biden to curb the spread of COVID-19 when he was spotted on a plane without a mask covering his face.
That’s a violation
The incident was captured in a photograph published by the Tennessee Star. In it, Kerry — described by the Washington Examiner as Biden’s “climate czar” — can be seen on an American Airlines flight, apparently in a first-class seat, reading a book while maskless.
At Biden’s behest, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had issued an order last month requiring passengers on all airlines to wear masks while traveling.
In a statement released shortly thereafter, American Airlines agreed to follow this order, as the Examiner noted. “Our mask requirement has been and will continue to be a critical component of our comprehensive effort to protect the health and well-being of our customers and team members during the pandemic,” a company executive said.
While an exception is made to passengers who are actively eating or drinking, Kerry didn’t appear to be doing either in the photo shared by the Star.

Rules for thee, but not for me
Kerry’s violation of the order comes as the president and others in his administration continue to encourage Americans to practice social distancing and wear masks to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. Kerry, for his part, is only the latest Democrat to be caught violating these guidelines.
Also taking flak over apparent violations of local mask orders is California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who is now facing a recall effort that was launched in part over allegations that he skirted his own guidelines to visit what The Hill described as a “posh restaurant” in the Golden State.
According to The Hill, the push to recall Newsom garnered more than 2 million signatures before a Wednesday deadline, well above the 1.5 million needed to move forward in the process.
“The people of California have awoken,” Randy Economy, an adviser to the recall effort, said, according to The Hill.
One can only hope the rest of America soon follows suit.
