Mike Pence abruptly cancels New Hampshire trip

On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence was scheduled to speak in New Hampshire to address the opioid crisis.

Suddenly, Pence was taken off Air Force Two and rushed back to the White House.

A day later, we still have no idea why.

Just About to Take Off

According to reports, Pence was on Air Force Two, sitting on the tarmac, waiting to take off when word came down to cancel the trip.

This was short notice for all involved and speculation has run wild as to the reason for the sudden change. The governor’s staff in New Hampshire was also sent scrambling, as Pence was the centerpiece of the event later that day.

Those that had planned on attending the event were obviously disappointed and confused as to what was happening. The event will be rescheduled, but that did not temper the disappointment.

Eric Spofford, the Chief Executive of the Granite Recovery Centers, the sponsor of the event, stated, “We were so honored to host Vice President Pence to discuss the opioid epidemic, treatment, and recovery but unfortunately the event was canceled.

“This issue is so important and we all need to work together toward solutions,” he added. “We look forward to working with the VP in the future, as well as all levels of government, as we continue to fight this epidemic.”

Cause unknown

While we still do not know the official reason for the cancelation, the White House communications team has assured everyone it is not a health concern.

Both President Trump and Mike Pence, however, have been fairly quiet on social media as well as being seen in public on both Tuesday and Wednesday, only adding more speculation to what is going on.

The White House tried to subdue the rumors from getting out of control, saying the reason for the cancelation would be made clear in upcoming weeks.

For now, the reason for the cancelation remains a complete mystery.
