Outrage ensues after Pelosi’s latest political stunt falls flat

House Speaker Pelosi’s (D-CA) latest photo op just fell flat…

After pictures surfaced of Pelosi, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and other high-profile Dems in Congress wearing traditional African Kente cloth while kneeling in the Capitol Emancipation Hall in honor of George Floyd, massive outrage ensued.

Too far

When many Americans saw Pelosi’s stunt, it was hard to hold back the cries of hypocrisy. After all, Pelosi shredded President Donald Trump for holding up a Bible for a photo op outside of St. John’s Episcopal Church just a few days ago.

That was hardly the worst of this, though.

Pelosi and her fellow Democrats seemed to think it appropriate to wear Kente cloth during their nine-minute moment of silence … and it didn’t take long for social media to take notice.

While Pelosi was all smiles, thinking she pulled off the PR opportunity of the year, her efforts didn’t go over so well with everyone.

Cultural appropriation

Screenwriter Eric Haywood tweeted, “What if they, like, just passed some laws instead of dressing up like a Wakandan chess set?”

Obianuju Ekeocha, a pro-life activist and huge Twitter personality expressed her outrage at the Democrats’ “token” use of the traditional West African Kente cloth.

“I’m sure there’s something you could have done to show your solidarity with black people instead of taking the Kente material and making a little show of it!” Watch below:

Even Bernie Sanders’ former Press Secretary Briahna Joy Gray had some criticism for the Democrats, tweeting, “As Congressmembers ice their knees and put away their kente cloth graduation stolls, I hope they consider supporting a monthly stimulus check.”

Frederick Joseph, the author of “The Black Friend” and former Elizabeth Warren surrogate, was also quite disturbed by the display…

Pelosi should be embarrassed.
