According to Breitbart, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was caught on camera Wednesday walking with protesters outside the Capitol — and she was surrounded by bodyguards.
As Breitbart noted, Pelosi’s guarded walk with those protesting the recent death of an unarmed black man in police custody came after President Donald Trump faced criticism from many in the media for having his own security while walking through a crowd of demonstrators.

The bottom line
Of course, Democrats and their cohorts in the media are willing to criticize the president over anything he does. Simply put, it is absurd to expect any official to go out into protests without significant security details, as violence has permeated nearly every peaceful protest.
Both the president and the speaker of the House are important figures, and it could be argued that either of them going into large crowds — especially ones this violent — is both foolish and unnecessary, if politically expedient.
Indeed, some protests have gotten so out of hand that police, in their attempts to control them, have had to use tear gas and rubber pellets. Some demonstrators have been injured as a result, and protesters have used those actions as an excuse to escalate the unrest.
The presence of a political figure at protests simply increases the risks of something bad happening.
What about COVID?
But not only is violence and crowd control an issue for police that should keep public officials away — there is also a forgotten risk that still needs to be accounted for: the coronavirus pandemic that crippled the globe for three months has seemingly disappeared over the last week and a half as thousands have gathered in large crowds.
Back in March, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the face of Trump’s coronavirus task force, said that all large gatherings around the country needed to be canceled to prevent mass transmission, as STAT reported. What’s more, those who are at higher risk from COVID-19 were advised to avoid large gatherings at all costs — and at ages 73 and 80, respectively, both Trump and Speaker Pelosi are in that group.
The two politicians need to be careful and protect themselves. It may even be time for President Trump to enforce social distancing again to disperse these large crowds.
In the meantime, we can only hope those in the media cool down their hypocrisy. If Trump is taking heat for something, Pelosi certainly shouldn’t be celebrated for it.
