There are a number of folks on the left who have convinced themselves that, one way or another, President Donald Trump will soon be removed, either via an impeachment conviction, a resignation in disgrace, or by way of the voters in November.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) apparently falls into that optimistic camp. Speaking with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos on Sunday, Pelosi suggested that Trump will be removed from the Oval Office in the election “ten months from now,” if not in the Senate impeachment trial.
Pelosi “optimistic” about Trump removal
“Let’s be optimistic about the future, a future that will not have Donald Trump in the White House one way or another,” Pelosi said. “Ten months from now we will have an election if we don’t have him removed sooner.”
“But, again, he’ll be impeached forever,” she added. With this statement, “#ImpeachedForLife” immediately began trending on Twitter, Rolling Stone noted.
“We’re confident in the impeachment. And we think there’s enough testimony to remove him from office,” Pelosi reiterated later in the interview.
Pelosi calls Trump “crazy”
Pelosi appeared on ABC’s This Week with Stephanopoulos and the bulk of their discussion was centered around the topic of impeachment and the effort to see Trump removed from office.
At one point in the conversation, Stephanopoulos referenced a tweet posted earlier that morning by the president in which he referred to Pelosi as “Crazy Nancy” and criticized the impeachment effort.
Asked to respond to what Trump had posted, Pelosi initially attempted to dodge the question but eventually said, “So again, I don’t like to spend too much time on his crazy tweets, because everything he says is a projection. When he calls someone crazy he knows that he is. Everything he says you can just translate it back to who he is.”
Overconfidence could come back to haunt her
Pelosi clearly believes her branding of President Trump with the stigma of impeachment will ultimately prove successful in seeing him removed from office, either by way of a conviction in a Senate trial or after voters sent him packing in the 2020 election.
Pelosi’s predictions about Trump haven’t always been accurate, however, as The Daily Caller pointed out in a brief video. The video begins with Pelosi’s assurance to Stephanopoulos that Trump would soon be gone, followed by past clips from Democrats — including former President Barack Obama — and liberal celebrities all confidently dismissing Trump’s chances of winning the presidency in the first place in 2016. This is awkward.

Viewers will no doubt recall the many, many people on both the right and the left who so confidently predicted that Trump would “never” become president, only to be proven woefully wrong by the voters on Election Day.
While anything can happen between now and November, it sure looks like this overconfidence may very well come back and bite Democrats once again.
