Nancy Pelosi takes heat for refusing to stand and applaud during most of Trump’s SOTU speech

President Donald Trump delivered his second State of the Union address on Feb. 5, and while the speech was well-received by the majority Americans, the event was marred by the numerous instances in which a bulk of the Democrats in attendance — including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — refused to stand or applaud at clearly non-partisan good news.

The refusal to stand and applaud was perhaps even more noticeable than it might otherwise have been because of the decision by most Democratic congresswoman to dress in all white pantsuits — purportedly in honor of the suffragettes who fought for the right of women to vote 100 years ago — and sit together in a bloc, which created rather stark imagery when they sat straight-faced while everyone else applauded.

Bunch of sullen teenagers

Lifezette reported that the “white pantsuit crew” has been roundly criticized for their stubborn display of partisanship, which included them remaining seated and straight-faced even as everyone was cheering such laudable accomplishments as historically low unemployment and significant reductions in child and sex trafficking — not to mention refusing to pay homage to World War II veterans, Holocaust survivors, or even a little girl prevailing over cancer.

Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal fixated on Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as emblematic of the entire group of white-clad left-leaning women, and remarked that she and others had behaved as though they were sullen teenagers.

She tweeted:

Unemployment, sex trafficking, and abortion

But Noonan was far from the only one to point out the rather noticeable refusal of Democratic women to stand and clap during the speech, as countless others noticed and called it out as well.

Liberal-leaning independent Dave Rubin tweeted:

Lauren Cooley of the Washigton Examiner was “speechless” over Ocasio-Cortez’s actions — or lack thereof.

The “Conservative Millennial,” Allie Beth Stuckey, even wished that Trump would have made the Democratic congresswomen look even more hypocritical.

Congressional Democrats have styled themselves over the past two years as the #Resistance to President Trump, but at that speech on Tuesday, it sure seemed like the only thing they were resisting were undeniable accomplishments and clear-cut goals that weren’t partisan issues at all but things that were overtly related to making or keeping our nation as the greatest in the world.

The Democrats’ refusal to stand and applaud for such things only revealed them to be the spiteful partisan hacks they truly are.
