Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-NY) has been hanging on to her gavel by the skin of her teeth.
In an effort to unite the party and regain control, Pelosi called a caucus meeting to discuss the impeachment of Donald Trump.
More Political Theater
This was a bold move by Pelosi on the same morning she had a major meeting scheduled with the President.
She called the meeting early Wednesday morning with only one topic on the agenda: the impeachment of President Trump.
Pelosi is trying to hold her party off on moving forward with impeachment because she knows they cannot win the case. Even so, she needed to do something to pacify her fellow Democrats.
After the meeting was over, Pelosi held a brief presser about the meeting. She did her usual “nobody is above the law”, then blatantly accused the President of being involved in a cover-up.
Needless to say, that did not sit well.
No Infrastructure Meeting
President Trump apparently had tuned in to see Pelosi’s news conference, because he was livid with Pelosi and Schumer when they showed up at the White House.
Trump immediately called Pelosi out for her comments, then abruptly ended the meeting. Trump held a press conference of his own in the Rose Garden, stating, “I don’t do cover-ups.”
The President then went on to list the various subpoenas and warrants he has obeyed during the Mueller investigation, proclaiming unprecedented transparency and cooperation.
Trump has had it with the continued investigations and accusations, and is refusing to work with Pelosi and Schumer on anything until the nonsense stops.
