Just weeks after it was announced Donald Trump had secured what the White House called a “historic” peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the president took to Twitter to reveal that he’d brokered a similar agreement between Israel and Bahrain. But in the sick mind of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the history-making deals are just “a distraction.”
According to The Daily Wire, Pelosi suggested in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Friday that Trump is using his recent moves in the Middle East to distract from his handling of the coronavirus pandemic here in the U.S.
“Good for him”
It was Blitzer who first begged the question to Pelosi: “How much credit do you give the President of the United States for these peace agreements?”
The answer? Not much.
“Well, hopefully they won’t — hopefully they will [be] beneficial to the region,” Pelosi said in response, according to The Daily Wire.
“We’ve been waiting for a very long time for the president’s proposal for an Israeli–Palestinian peace agreement that honored the two-state solution,” she went on to complain. “It was coming in two weeks, it was coming in two months, it was coming in six months — it still hasn’t come in any way that has brought peace.”
Pelosi then went for the jugular. “So, good for him for having a distraction on a day when the numbers of people who are affected and the numbers of people who are dying from this virus only increases,” she declared, according to The Daily Wire. Take a look:

Pelosi’s remarks drew swift criticism on Twitter, where Fox News host Bret Baier said plainly that the House speaker is flat-out wrong.
“This is quite an answer,” Baier tweeted of Pelosi’s remarks. “No matter your party — and even if you don’t like all the details inside — the UAE and Bahrain peace deals with Israel are not ‘distractions.'”
President Trump also touted the “breakthroughs” in his tweet announcing the Israel–Bahrain deal on Friday.
Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain agree to a Peace Deal – the second Arab country to make peace with Israel in 30 days!
