After pushing for $600 relief checks, Pelosi claims credit for Trump’s $2,000 demand

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is moving to take credit for President Donald Trump’s demands for $2,000 checks in the next federal coronavirus relief bill.

On Tuesday, Pelosi claimed that the $600 checks that were in the bill were “significant” even though the first round of direct payments were $1,200. Soon after, Trump rightfully demanded that Congress give Americans work — and Pelosi changed her tune in a heartbeat, The Daily Wire reported.

Pelosi understands that fighting Trump over the size of direct payments would look terrible. Instead, the California Democrat is taking credit for something she had no intention of pursuing.

Democrat dishonesty

Indeed, Pelosi said Tuesday that the checks were adequate. “They are significant, and they will be going out soon,” she claimed, as Yahoo reported. “The president may insist on having his name on the check, but make no mistake, those checks are from the American people.”

The House speaker, of course, didn’t let the opportunity to attack Trump slip by, despite the complete irrelevancy to the situation. Democrats have made a habit of fighting Trump at every turn, no matter the issue.

Following Trump’s refusal to sign the coronavirus relief bill until the check’s size was increased, both Republicans and Democrats scrambled to comply.

Pelosi took to Twitter to say, “Republicans repeatedly refused to say what amount the President wanted for direct checks. At last, the President has agreed to $2,000 — Democrats are ready to bring this to the floor this week by unanimous consent. Let’s do it!”

The wording of Pelosi’s tweet is incredibly subtle and, without context, sounds innocuous. However, with Democrats pushing a $600 check in the bill, Pelosi’s statement seems far from trustworthy.

To further show that Pelosi had no intention of writing $2,000 checks, Democrats previously rejected a bill that would have sent $1,200 checks to Americans, as reports noted.

Pelosi tried to rip us off

Thanks to President Trump, Americans avoided being ripped off by Democrats. Unfortunately, Trump will be likely leaving office in January, and we will be entirely at the mercy of Democrats.

Pelosi was OK with giving Americans checks half the first checks’ sizes, and Americans cannot forget this.

Democrats will be banking on Americans moving on by the time the 2022 midterms roll around — but their latest actions have shown once again that Dems simply cannot be trusted to have the American people’s best interests at heart.
