House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) continues to use inflammatory language to rile up her supporters following the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Pelosi’s latest inflammatory remarks came in a fundraising email that she recently sent out.
Pelosi and other Democrats are now trying to use the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe to energize voters ahead of the midterm elections. This was expected.
But, take a look at the language that Pelosi is using. Talk about incitement . . .
“A normal response won’t suffice”
Pelosi’s fundraising email starts off with the false statement that countless Democrats have been making following the Supreme Court’s decision: “Trump’s Supreme Court just ruled to rip reproductive rights away from every single woman in this county.”
The truth is that the Supreme Court just returned to every voter in this country the right to determine, through his or her state legislature, whether abortion ought to be legal or illegal. Pelosi, though, continues the fundraising email with a call to action.
We can either sit back and admit defeat to these far-right extremists . . . Or we can RISE UP, meet this ONCE-IN-A-GENERATION moment, and marshal a response so HISTORIC that we make every last anti-choice Republican REGRET what they’ve done.
The email concludes: “This isn’t a normal fundraising email. And, a normal response won’t suffice.”
This fundraising email follows on the heels of a statement that Pelosi released last week in response to the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe. In that statement, Pelosi used the same sort of inflammatory language that she used in the fundraising email.
Today, the Republican-controlled Supreme Court has achieved the GOP’s dark and extreme goal of ripping away women’s right to make their own reproductive health decisions. Because of Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, the Republican Party and their supermajority on the Supreme Court, American women today have less freedom than their mothers.
Pelosi went on to accuse “far-right politicians” of trying “to punish and control women.” And, she referred to the court’s ruling as “cruel . . . outrageous and heart-wrenching.”
With language like this, is the violence that we are seeing from the left in response to the court’s ruling any surprise?
