Loudoun County, Virginia, has worked to establish a reputation for its leftist ideology in schools.
It was there that a parent was accused of trespassing after he complained at a school board meeting that his daughter had been assaulted by a boy, posing as a girl, in a girls' restroom at a school.
School officials ended up getting indicted over that whole episode.
Not far away is Montgomery County, Maryland, where school officials are in defiance of state law with their mandates to teach LGBTQ lessons to all children, without advance notice and without letting parents opt their children out.
So the opening of a new Christian school, Cornerstone Christian Academy, in Middleburg, Virginia, met with a response that might have been expected.
"These parents didn't walk, they ran," to the school, according to a report from Fox News.
The school had been announced just a few months ago by Cornerstone Chapel Pastor Gary Hamrick. It's serving students K-8 at this point.
It was described as an alternative to a public school for children.
"It’s just incredible," school chief Sam Botta told Fox News Digital in an interview. "There was excitement from the very beginning."
"I have never been in a place that has been so filled with excitement and smiles and love," added Courtney Hanak, who teaches first grade. "From teachers, from parents and administrators, from our church, from the kids."
The school's web page explains, "We believe each child is a treasure given to parents, having been fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139:14). At CCA, we are committed to coming alongside families in helping our students explore and discover the unique gifts, passions, and dreams that God has placed deep within them. We will also provide our students with the opportunity to pursue and experience their calling as part of their education at CCA. This is what we refer to as 'Calling Prep.'"
Botta said parents want a school that shares their values.
The church helps pay for tuition when families cannot afford to full cost.
Jennifer Paranzino, parent of a CCA student, said. "The biggest thing I find as a parent so refreshing is that this school… their intention is really to partner with parents. They really do view parents as equal teachers."
In Virginia, school officials in Fairfax County's district recently defied the governor's instructions on bathrooms that required students to use pronouns and bathrooms in alignment with their biological sex.
"With everyone that’s going on in the world – the woke agenda, the LGBT… Christians students are being penalized in their work products – their writings, their art projects, if they mention Jesus or Christ or God, and they need a place where they can not just grow academically, but in a spiritually safe environment that’s faith-focused and faith-grounded," explained Kristan Bergman, a CCA teacher.
