One would think delivering pizza to be a relatively safe job.
That was not the case for Jose Alvarado, though. He was shot to death outside the Papa John’s store where he worked on Wednesday night.
Disturbing Video
The horrifying and apparently unprovoked attack was caught on video by surveillance cameras.
The attack took place around 10:30 p.m. on Amsterdam Avenue in Harlem.
The suspect in the video is the man wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap approaching Alverado, who is the man fidgeting with the bicycle.
Sadly, Alverado, 37, did not survive the attack.
He was pronounced dead at a local hospital soon after the attack.
On the Run
The suspect immediately fled the scene and is still at large.
The NYPD posted photos from the security cameras in hopes that the public can help identify Alverado’s attacker.

It does not appear to be a robbery, as nothing was taken from Alverado after the shooting.
Police stated that at this time they are investigating several theories as to why the man shot Alverado.
Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea stated, “There’s a couple different theories that we have at this point that I won’t go into… it’s a little preliminary.”
From the video, it appears random, as Alverado was obviously caught off guard and had no reason to believe the man approaching him was going to shoot him.
