One dead, two injured following California bowling alley shooting

A shooting that took place at a California bowling alley over the weekend left one person dead and two others injured, SFGate reports

The shooting took place at the Granada Bowl bowling alley, which is located in Livermore, California, at 1620 Railroad Ave. The incident took place at around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

What happened?

The Livermore Police Department provided a statement on the matter. It appears that the shooting followed a fight.

“At 6 p.m, a fight broke out at Granada Bowl,” Livermore PD tweeted. “One of the patrons involved pulled out a gun & fired several rounds striking 3 adult victims. We’re not releasing the identities of the victims at this time. We’re currently following up suspect leads. We’ll provide details as we have them.”

This statement followed another in which the police department asked those in the area to avoid the bowling alley until they get the situation under control.

More details emerge

NBC News reports that the fight was “among a group that knew each other.”

The identities of those involved have not been released. What we do know, though, is that the individual who died was a 28-year-old male.

The other two individuals who were injured were also said to be in their 20s.

Suspect is still at large

Livermore police still have yet to arrest the suspect.

The only information that has been provided about the suspect is that he is a man in his 20s who knew his victims. Police do believe that they know who this individual is. But, they are keeping this information from the public for now.

It could have been worse

In a way, it is fortunate that only three individuals were struck as the bowling alley is reported to have been packed on Saturday, including with a number of families and young children who were celebrating a birthday party. Many are said to have fled the building when the shots were fired.

The bowling alley did release a statement on the matter on Sunday. They closed down following the shooting, but they are expected to reopen on Monday, although, for now, they are going to be operating on an abbreviated schedule.
