Ilhan Omar calls on advertisers to ditch Fox News, Tucker Carlson

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) wants advertisers to ditch Fox News and one of its star hosts, according to The Hill. In fact, she probably won’t be satisfied until the network’s conservative programming is canceled altogether.

That’s the impression the freshman congresswoman gave in a recent series of tweets slamming Fox, which she accused of “giving a nightly platform” to white supremacy, and host Tucker Carlson, who she called a “racist fool” following his recent criticism of her, The Washington Post reports.

The feud lives on

It was on his weeknight primetime program, Tucker Carlson Tonight, that Carlson first blasted Omar, who has made name for herself as a constant spewer of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel rhetoric. Indeed, Carlson hasn’t been shy about making it clear that he isn’t a fan of the freshman congresswoman from Minnesota.

On Tuesday, Carlson escalated his criticisms, calling Omar “living proof” of America’s failing immigration system, according to MSN.

“Omar isn’t disappointed in America, she’s enraged by it,” Carlson said of Omar, who came to the U.S. as a refugee from Somalia, MSN reports. “Virtually every public statement she makes accuses Americans of bigotry and racism. This is an immoral country she says, she has undisguised contempt for the United States and for its people. That should worry you and not just because Omar is a sitting member of Congress.”

From there, Carlson went on to refer to Omar as proof “that the way we practice immigration has become dangerous to this country.”

“A system designed to strengthen America is instead undermining it,” Carlson lamented. “Some of the people we try hardest to help have come to hate us passionately.

“Maybe that’s our fault for asking too little of our immigrants, we aren’t self-confident enough to make them assimilate so they never feel fully American,” Carlson added. “Or maybe the problem is deeper than that. Maybe we’re importing people from places whose values are antithetical to ours.”

Omar calls for a boycott

It was those remarks from Carlson that sent Omar on a tweet-storm.

“Not gonna lie, it’s kinda fun watching a racist fool like this weeping about my presence in Congress,” Omar wrote of Carlson, retweeting a clip of his Tuesday night program. “They will just have to get used to calling me [c]ongresswoman!”

Omar also shared a message Tuesday urging advertisers to abandon Tucker Carlson Tonight for its alleged “hate speech.”

Of course, no matter how much Omar tries to get Carlson’s show canceled, Fox News has continuously stood by him. But how long can the network keep his advertisers on board? Only time will tell.
