Ohio club shooting leaves 1 dead, 7 injured
A 28-year-old woman was shot in the head in the back of a Cleveland, Ohio club on Friday, the only fatality of an apparent shootout.
Club X-Rated in downtown Cleveland held an event to showcase some local rappers.
According to police, at some point, an argument broke out and guns were drawn.
Shots started to ring out, eventually spilling out into the street.
When the bullets stopped flying, seven people had been wounded and one woman had been killed.
Six men were treated for wounds at local hospitals.
A seventh man, only identified as being 25 years old, remains hospitalized with wounds to his chest, hand, and arm.
After being found in the back of the bar, the woman was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
So far, police have made no arrests in the case.
Cleveland is the Next Detroit
While Cleveland often manages to avoid the big headlines, the city is among the top 5 in the country for murders per capita.
At the top of that list is St. Louis, with 29.1 murders per 100,000 citizens.
Baltimore is close behind at 27.3, then New Orleans at 24.5, Detroit at 20.2, and Cleveland at 14.5 per 100,000.
This is an issue local politicians have been dealing with for years, but they have done little to stop the carnage.
Strangely enough, every mayor of these cities also happens to be a Democrat. Interesting.
